A Sad Day

Mrs Marks Uncle died at the weekend.

Nigel Kemp was one of the few remaining Battle of Britain pilots, who flew Hurricanes on many a mission during WW2. I believe there are only about 10 left now.

It still amazes me that they these guys were only about 20 or so years old, when they were asked to go into battle on a one to one basis up in the sky. I couldn't imagine trusting any of the kids of today with a job like that :o

If it wasn't for hero's like Nigel, I suspect we may all have been speaking German today.

He was true Gent, a bit like the actor Leslie Philips with handle bar moustache etc, and was still pulling the birds at 80 odd years old :D

A very sad moment indeed - really does make you stop and think what that generation went through - they must dispair at the youth of today (type-casting heavily I know ...).
