First Pics Of My Is200 Se

Recommended Posts

Thought it was about time I posted some pictures up, gave her a good clean took most of Sunday. Am pleased with the results.

For those interested I clay bared the whole car with the aid of Sonus detailer spray, used one coat of Merzerna intensive polish mixed with a bit of Merzerna final finish. Then went over with Chemical Guys wet look gloss finish and finished with Merguires Carnauba Wax to seal it all in.

Also painted the calipers last weekend, just need to sort out my mullered alloys, there a state (previous owner I may add)!! If anyone is selling any alloys pm me as am on the hunt; that goes for exhausts to! Think im catching the modding bug!!

looks good mate.

did you do it all by hand or with a cable polisher??

is the merzerna intensive polish an abrasive or a filler??

I used a cable polisher - Meguire G220, cannot recommend it enough is a fab machine!

Merzerna is an abrasive, a medium cut polish. Hate the polish's that fill because a couple of washes down the line all the marks are back!!

I was thinking about gettin a polisher.

Just one question,do you see marks left by the polisher when the sun shines on the car?

have seen some cars with a terrible finish once they have been machine polished.

Would like to get rid of some swirl marks, but would not like to make a mess of my car.

Cheers Adrian

Depending on how good you are and what polish you use you can avoid getting swirl marks. Can also get them out easily with most swirl remover products and keeping your powermop on about 1500-2000rpm. Also i higly reccomend a Makita power mop. Not cheap but i use them at work 10hours a day pretty much non stop and had one for over a year ;) most other cheaper mops just bounce or stop on scratches! not what you want!!

If your going to have a go i would reccomend getting a few pannels from a local scrappy first to practice on! doesnt matter if you mess them up :D

No you dont see swirl marks with a random orbital buffer. The car had previously been machine buffed really badly with a rotary buffer and looked awful covered in swirls.

It is so hard to do any damage with the Megs G220 with the right pad and polish. If you apply too much pressure it does not rotate so you do not burn the paint. It takes a bit of practice, im learning all the time. Pretty much fool proof, get one!!
