Not sure if mine is a real tartan...

but looks like a tartan'ish pattern - mostly Green.

Blanket type cloth on one side, water resistant membrane backing.

Folds up leaving a flap with velcro fastening - results in a carry handle B)

4 quid from safeway couple of weeks ago...

And already used on several picnics

Supercharger AND picnic blanket... Yessss i get ALL the best toys :D

Now just some suitable headgear and i'm well + truly sorted :zee:

I have two (wouldn't you know........ ;) )

My "best" one is green tartan, with a waterproof back. It folds up into a bag with a carrying handle. Cost £45 from John Lewis

My other one is mostly red, very cheap and nasty, but came free with a tank of fuel (from BP I think it was)

I tend to use them together - the waterproof one on the ground, and the red one on top, that way if anything gets on to the cheap one, I can wash it

(There was a time when I used them a lot, but they haven't been out for a while now .........)

Do i look like the sort of person that has a tartan blanket?  :shifty:

Oh, I think you DO have a tartan blanket.......... :winky:

Why so coy?

There's nothing to be ashamed of :whistling:

Well.. I hate to dissapoint you Lyn.. but I don't have a tartan blanket... or any colour/pattern blanket you care to mention...

I guess I'm just not cool enough to have one :P :winky:

So when you get all overcome with a need to "picnic" in the open air,  :winky:  :whistling: what do you do - get grass stains?

Do I look like someone who ever has a picnic ?? :shifty:

Just awaiting Steve's Pot Noodle comment now...

I can't actually believe I'm replying to this topic!

I don't own a blanket (honestly), but our CR-V has a full size picnic table built in to the boot! Does that count?

I had a picnic all to myself on Sunday - and before you all start to laugh and call me sad - it was so relaxing. The wife was working and it was clear blue sky day so decided to take a drive up through the stirlingshire countryside up and over the Queen Elizabeth Forrest Trail (if you know it, you'll understand why). I stopped right beside a loch (that's a lake to you southerners!) took my sandwich, coke (drink!) and sat on a rock reading the Sunday papers for a few hours. I've never done something like that on my own but it was fantastic - so tranquil, and with the sound of the water lapping around the rocks and birds singing in the trees - I was totalled de-stressed for a few hours. :geek:
