  2. Welcome to the forum Mark. Sorry to hear of your woes. The councils are out down here at the moment, making the usual disgraceful efforts at resurfacing the roads. When you go out, it is constantly on your mind 'How soon before my windscreen goes!' Hate it!!! Enjoy the forum and your car.

  3. And the thing is that you know that's true. I don't know of any other car I've ever owned that I could say that about. I've driven brand new cars that don't drive anything like an LS of advancing years!

  4. Just a quick introduction. Collected my new to me 300h late last week and have covered just over 600kms since collection. Replaced 4 tyres, had an intermediate service carried out and some time with the detailer before collection so now its a case of driving and enjoying. I am genuinely surprised at the positive reaction the car receives. Mine is a 2014 H F Sport model in white. So far so good, I had heard some reviews of harsh suspension however I have no issues but still have the rose tinted glasses.

  9. Another recall thread, great I'm going to start another next week. Can never have too many, is it laziness? Is it the need to ask lame and generally FSQ about issues that can easily be solved by doing on search via your web browser. Surely it's quicker to search, I would have thought, than typing the question on this site and expecting someone else to do the search for you. Sick to death of reading lame posts about lame issues particularly about consumables: Q..."How much should I pay for a pollen filter"? R..."They are cheap at ECP" Q..."I don't like ECP, I'd rather pay for a Lexus part" Q..."What oil should I use"? A..."Offer on at ******"" Q..."I don't trust them" On and on and on and on.........rant over. Ready for a warning point.

  11. Hi Stuart, welcome. You are not alone, much as I love trawling Autotrader etc, the thought of actually buying a new car is quite fraught. The RX is a complicated car, and Lexus bits are expensive, but with a full (?) dealer history you should be reassured it will probably be as reliable a ten year old car as you can buy. Are you buying from a main dealer, or a trader? It would be worth having in your hand a Hybrid Health Check from a Lexus dealer, I'd say. Buying older cars (as I do), I would always recommend to someone not to commit every penny they have to buying the car, but instead to keep a significant chunk back for possible repairs. Let us know how you get on; I guess being a Saturday you well be in the process of picking it up right now!

  12. In Ireland the BMW service schedule on newer cars is 30,000Kms/2 years whichever comes first and a brake fluid service every third service. So a service contract will get you 2 oil services, a major service, a brake fluid service plus any stat vehicle inspections which for €500 it represents very good value for money when you are doing the mileage imo I had an oil service & air filter replaced last week in a Dublin based Lexus dealer, €179 all in and another €50for a hybrid health check. Servicing is always one of those topics, personally whilst a car is still under warranty and less that 7 years old I will always use a main dealer, my own preference but I do believe that technicians who are seeing marque specific vehicles all day have a keener eye for both indentifying and resolving issues

  18. Hi Stuart, welcome to the Loc ..you've got a nice motor there, I had a is200 for 10 years and can honestly say it was the second best car I've owned, ( the best car I owned was a lotus elan +2 that was way back in the 1980s ) I've got a is250 now but still miss my is200 , what colour is your car ? Is it auto or manual , I had the manual and found the gearbox perfect , have you had the cambelt replaced ? I think recommended to be done every 60k or 4 years whichever comes first. I just thought I would mention it ......look after your car and it will last you well, Allan

  20. Hi John, welcome. That is an absolute beauty; looks just like one they had in Lexus Hedge end's showroom last time I was down there. What a car. Look forward to seeing your updates; like you say, not many about as yet so you are something of a pioneer for that engine/body combination.

  21. Hi Iain... Many thanks for the compliment and i have say the white is equally as stunning. I still haven't seen another one yet but that kinda makes me feel quite privileged to have something different on the road and because of that it turns so many heads,as im sure you get the same, a lot of people still ask what make it is because from the side they cant tell..lol.. Thanks for the tip on the RC section, i'll keep an eye what post come up..

  22. Welcome John.....lovely looking vehicle. Those wheels look a bugger to keep clean ! Hi Steve.. Thanks for your message and i apologise for the late reply, i've only just got returned from holiday.. So far the wheels haven't been too much of a problem but i have polished them 3 times with a polish called Mirror Glaze which works extremely well on surfaces that endure very high heat temperatures, so nothing like road and brake dust sticks to the surface... That said, i clean the car at least 3 times a week, so not much has a chance to stick to any part of the car anyway... I'm sad i know but i cant stand my car being dirty, i've been the same with all my cars over the years though.. I learnt it from my Dad with his cars...lol

  23. Just found out that if you stand next to the car in the dark with the keys in your pocket the internal lights come on. It's as if it anticipates your every need. Okay this may seem basic but it's the first time I have been to it in the dark.

  24. I see the foot brake comment often on these forums. Personally I don't understand the dislike, yes it may be different but after a few days it is just natural.

  25. I had to top up the coolant a couple of times when I first got my mk4. I put it down to the garage who had recently renewed the coolant not bleeding it well enough, would wait a few top-ups before thinking there`s a problem with cooling system. Simon

  26. Enjoy mate, these are remarkable machines. I had owned mine two days when i made a 650 mile round trip and such was the cars aura of competent quality, it never even occurred to me that it would not make it...not many sub 2k 'bangers' I would have jumped in mid July and made such a trip...2500 miles later, it's still to miss a beat! I'm in a bit of a quandary with mine, I go back to uni in September and really don't need it. I buy 'treat' cars for the summer months then go back to being a poor student for the rest of the year...but I really don't wanna let it go....it IS on gumtree and I have tentatively offered it to a few members on here...but be warned....these cars GET to you...in a big way...

  27. You could try 1200 wet and dry on the headlamp, followed by cutting compound and then polish- nothing to lose

  28. Having looked at the factory manual there is no mention of replacing the actual rubber seal around the door, you may break some clips removing the old one but they should be obtainable from the dealer or if not let me know as I have some seals on one I am breaking and you can have some clips. If the mastic stuff stays on the door and doesn't get pulled off with the seal it should be ok to reuse, it may be an idea to warm the area with a hair dryer to make removal easier. Hopefully below is a PDF showing the door weatherstrip components and the clip locations. 2000 Lexus LS400 Rear Door.pdf
