  1. I think the dealers are interested if you have the current or last gen model of RX, if you have Gen 1, 2 or 400h, they aren't interested in helping you other than scaring you with a large bill to tempt you to upgrade - "you have dust on your break disc, that'll be £120 for the part and £400 to fit... Or I can give you a discount on a shiny used/new RX....)" Hmmmmm....

  2. .... certainly a few older ones emerging for sale now, some with sensible prices and others really not ( not yet anyway ). Can't help thinking that 18" wheels/tyres will take away the soft comfy ride usually associated with the Ls400 Malc

  3. Glad you've finally got to the bottom of the problem and you had enough funds to do so. If it was me, I'd have had to scrap the car for the sake of spending over £4k on a new battery. Further up the thread someone mentioned that there is an external battery charger available but not many dealers have one at their disposal. Seems to me that there's a market for an external power supply that could be plugged into the mains and also plugged into the car, temporarily taking the place of the battery for testing purposes. Ok, you couldn't take the car on a test drive but in cases like this, it would have shown that the battery was not at fault and to look elsewhere.

  5. Sometimes if the battery has been disconnected this happens....reset all 4 windows as follows, Fully open each window in turn and then one at a time close them by holding the door trigger on each door until fully closed...KEEP the switch held up in that position and do not release for a few more seconds, I believe you'll here a "beep" do all four separately (do not use the front door pairs of switches to do the back windows use their own switch on each door). This resets the door windows to some kind of a default setting. Happened to me a few times before I figured what was happening (maybe with the help of someone on here) my Lexus IS 220D is almost 10 years old, it maybe different for newer models. Vrmm Vrmm

  6. Have you checked the power steering fluid level recently, that will make the noise if low, also the fact it is more apparent on slow cornering.

  7. Hi Yes, I have an RX 450h model and I pull a Trigano Silver 310 model with pop up roof. The cost of the tow bar is high, £900 fitted by Westfalia at their Bristol centre. This is the only tow bar that can go on an RX 450h, because of the air suspension! 2ddesign

  9. Hi Mate, glad to know that someone else on here has experienced the Nissan life, i love it. and tbh they becoming more and more inaccessible by the day because everyone drifts them into walls they get written off which is a massive shame. looking at 6k for a decent one now :'( And mine is currently stage 1 with all supporting mods at around 290bhp. most of my money and time has been spent getting it solid underneath, they are probe to rust basically between the front bumper and the rear bumper! so i had to keep on top of that. the rest of the time was converting it back from a drift car to a nice road car, i managed to save one from meeting a wall and being broken for parts which im happy about. Big plans are near tho and will be transformed soon i hope. but only being 20 im trying to save cash for a flat as well its hard to fit everything in ahah Anyone interested in the nissan build process since i have had it is welcome to have a read here - http://sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?579477-Mats-red-s14a-long-term-project thanks for the welcome mate, i will deffinatly be getting some question posts up soon and already have a wanted thread up! i will get some pics of the Lexus up soon to, as its not at my place at the moment i cant get any of it. I need an unwelded diff (god only knows why the guys before me welded the diff) and it needs the rear ABS rings on the driveshafts replacing which are already ordered and the abs sensors are reading low so going to replace them out of precaution to. other than that i cant wait to get it into daily driver duties! Also noticed your both in Hampshire to, small world isnt it.

  14. Well, I realize I'm three years late to this party but I thought I would chime in - my brother-in-law in Los Angeles, CA, USA has had his Lexus since 1998 or 1999 (bought it brand new) and at this point it has 370,000 miles on it. His excellent mechanic told him there is absolutely nothing wrong with the engine or any major systems that he can see, although the grey paint is worn through on the hood (just cosmetic issues). I can't remember what model he has but I think it may be one of the LS models. For this reason, I am now shopping around for an older LS with low miles on it. My BIL's car has been nothing but reliable for almost two decades. Can't beat the Lexus - and that's coming from someone whose extended family has sworn by Mercedes Benz and Cadillac for a couple of generations!!

  15. FM radio is rubbish anyway - its got worse over the years anyway Play around with the equaliser, remember you have to do this separately for each source!

  17. Glad you got everything sorted! I completely agree re. the myth of the Lexus dealerships - it seems that people are swayed by the ego-boosting staff and the marble floors and 'free' coffee and biscuits.

  18. this is how my car looks (when I picked it up last month) I think the rear is tinted more than the fronts but it's not enough to give my kids the privacy I want. In that light the Sonic Titanium is lovely :) need to give it a clean and buff me thinks soon

  19. That's brilliant, thanks Steve. I couldn't believe the price of the ATF, so much so that I'm wondering if they've made a mistake. However, as we say around these parts, I'm keeping my head down and saying nowt

  23. Hi to all of you ,my first time so bare with us. I got 2006 IS 220d just had it 12 months 82000 full history about 6 month ago had fifth injector replaced , exhaust gas valve and software update all done after dash lights came on and covered under recall from Lexus. The problem all stems from carbon build up so my question is this. As anyone used biodiesel the good quality stuff ? I have just used a full tank with a 50% mix bio + normal diesel and then after about 100miles with no problems i diluted it more with normal diesel 25 + 75 and have not had a problem . Engine sounded quieter no funny smells but the main reason i used it was for its engine cleaning qualities hopefully on the CARBON. I have just filled the tank with normal Morrisons diesel 60 Litres but once i have used about 6 litres i will top up with biodiesel 10% mix and i intend running it on that mix for the time being. Anyone any experience with using biodiesel good or bad then let us know please thanks davey b
