  1. ****, I feel for you having serious rust issues on such a recent car, I thought the Lexus marque was a bit above that ! What mileage are you at with this problem ? My indie always takes my Lexus ( and my other cars ) to the MOT testing station personally to be there and understand exactly what any potential MOT issues might be from the Tester himself. This gives him the opportunity to maybe resolve instantly any simple issues and also to bring the car back the next day ( or sooner ) if it's something he has to achieve back at his workshop. I get charged the full official 100% MOT price though BUT I'm not otherwise paying for his time in that attendance and I guess he only pays the normal Trade price of say 50% of retail MOT price. But I'm happy with that, it's a great personal service. He never charges extra, only for the annual service ( and any MOT work ) that follows the MOT. Helps maybe make my cars possibly the lowest maintenance cost one's around. Malc 1

  3. The exterior, paint finish, 19'' rims, interior with the dark rose leather, the driver's seat is ultra comfy, the stereo is excellent, the adaptive cruise.

  4. The ahs should be shuttering parts of the light. If you can visibly see it happening then it's working fine. I wouldn't worry about other drivers. I get flashed all the time in my RX with dipped beam LED lights It's worse in lower cars as the light is at eye level There's no setting to make the strips brighter. I think they dim when driving to avoid distracting you or causing glare

  5. That certainly explains why it is programmed to be so cautious - thank you. I'm just not going to get anywhere near the bottom of the tank from now on!

  6. The point to avoid to be without fuel in hybrid cars is that if this occurs, even not considering the risk to damage fuel pump, the driver insists moving in EV using traction battery, till totally discharge, and with tractio battery discharged it's impossible to start the car: it needs a complex operation of recharging with an external charging machinery that is NOT common to find even in Lexus garages. So, need of towing and a long time to wait to fix the issue, and much money to spend. This the reason why extimated miles in reserve are very prudential: on my GS with a 65 liters of tank the warning alert of low fuel appears with almost 10 liters and a indication of only 50 kms, while with my usual driving style I could do 160 more km. from light on (100 miles).

  8. I know slightly off topic but I have both rx450 and gs450 so both have same engine although it's slightly de tuned to make the RX slightly more economical. So despite the RX Being heavier and less aero dynamic it still manages to be about 6-8mpg more economical than my Gs. All things considered I think that's pretty good. that equates to about an extra 80miles per tank. carl

  9. It might be worth mentioning that before my MOT at Lexus Birmingham I do usually get a pre-MOT inspection that I have a week or two before the actual MOT occurs , so maybe that is worth considering in the future. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  11. Thanks, everyone. That's what I was hoping for reassurance about, Paul - when I filled-up, it took just under 35 litres. I will try not to let it get so low, but at least I know that I'm not about to glide to a halt when the warning light comes on!

  12. Maybe ask the dealer you bought it from - Lexus?

  13. I tend to adjust my driving style - and right foot - accordingly. On good roads the ride still amazes me - it's so good.

  14. sorry I'm hijacking here ............. so 14 litres left leaves you about 180 miles Reserve................. that's brilliant and nowt to worry about I guess when it hits orange ( does it then ? ) On my brilliant but now ancient Ls400 the gauge looks just about empty when it hits the orange and I know I've got about 100 miles left in the 85 litre tank ........ not having this fandangled modern technology that tells me how many ( dubious ) miles I might or might not have left of juice in the tank. ( I achieve about 30mpg at a steady 75/80 mph fully laden on the autoroutes of europe / Mway ( or should I say 70mph only ........... it's most efficient fuel consumption profile for me ) BUT drops to early 20's average usage ) Malc

  15. The tank capacity is 45 litres. It seems to keep 10 litres spare as zero comes up at around 35 litres used. Some people have gone beyond this and managed another 100 miles or so. It's well documented on the Prius forum about this but it's not really advised to let the CT get low on fuel. I've just filled up tonight as my range showed 32 miles. I only managed to put in 31 litres before it clicked off (£37). Still great on fuel and managing 55 mpg (calculated). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  16. Tez, You have been asked not to break the club T&C's, you obviously feel that they don't apply to you as you keep breaking them despite being asked not to. This is why your posting abilities have been suspended. 17. The British motoring press are extremely biased. I have now covered 1200 miles in 10 days and without doubt is the best car I have driven. I did 30years in the police and for a short time was in charge of the local road policing unit so have driven many vehicles at very high speeds in difficult situations. The Lexus is without doubt the most comfortable car I have owned for years, the closest being my Mercedes 300ce from 1992 which in those days was a £42000 car. I am absolutely amazed that a 220bhp car is so economical and I love driving it . My average so far according to my phone app is42mpg. Over the last 3 days and 300 miles the average Mpg was 44. 75. This car is certainly making me smile.

  18. Wouldn't consider letting the tank get that low personally, always fill up before reaching 1/4.

  20. I think I will let them have a look and depending on their assessment of the actual damage I will decide whether to let Lexus deal with it. All this for a sub £100 part. ****! Thanks for the replies. Feeling a bit better about it all now.

  21. As others have said, it does it on mine too. I don't know if it's the gearbox or the drive-by-wire system, or even communication between the two, but it's certainly not as responsive as other cars I've driven with a 'normal' cable-operated throttle. Again as others have said, most noticable when slowing down for an obstacle which then moves, so you can put your foot back on the accelerator to start speeding up again - always a bit of a lag between pressing the accelerator and the car beginning to pick up speed, which leads to the slight jerk.

  22. Seems primarily related to the MK1 and in the US. Can't say I remember reading anything much about transmission issues in our Forum... and certainly nothing that would suggest an epidemic.

  23. Bad news Chris and I too hope you get it sorted for less than an arm & a leg ! Age & environment take their toll on cars too! With regard to Waxoyl etc. Many years ago when I was a young man, (and dinosaurs still ruled the earth,) I spent some time in Germany where the common practice was to take your car to the garage in the autumn and have the underside sprayed with old engine oil. This seemed to work reasonably well as a corrosion inhibitor and was both quick & cheap. Totally unacceptable nowadays of course for all sorts of health & environmental, ( & I am sure, commercial, ) reasons. However, having briefly researched more modern under body treatments for my own RX when I first got it, I came to the conclusion that it was an expensive & time consuming option probably only worthwhile on a new or nearly new car where the corrosion had not yet set in. This is of course only the opinion which I formed. If other members have experiences to share I would certainly be interested.

  27. All is forgiven there are so many electronic system features on this car I'm still learning how to use them and how they work , the radar cruise control for instance is quite awesome in use to name just one.
