  1. Hi I passed through an adventure to replace the key fob battery and I think worth to inform others. In the internet and in the official manual prompt you to place a screwdriver in the middle of the key where the is a slotting and twist it so to separate the two cover parts. In my NX450+ (10/2022) key there's no slotting and luckily didn't destroy the key. After the "booming" and whilst assembling the pieces of the key noticed that it opens just by sliding the top side of the key. So easy. No tools no pressure. If your key has not slotting just slide the top side. If your key has a slotting use screwdriver. Thanks for reading and be careful.

  2. I think delivery lead times are improving.. Picked up my 450 F Sport at end of October which was 4 months earlier than quoted at time of order. First Lexus having switched from BMW… absolutely delighted with this amazing car and customer service from the dealer. Only one smart key fob and no locking wheel nuts, however Lexus UK customer service say both will be supplied as part of campaign wave 5, but were unable to say when this will actually happen.

  3. Thank you for the messages and support. I just wanted to bring some updates... so far nothing, the car is still stolen... last night I got a bit hopeful as an article from BBC was saying that a thief was caught in Grays and had a Lexus, but it was an NX300h... full article here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-suffolk-67526914.amp Also wanted to add an interesting article from JLR: https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/cars/article-12774935/Jaguar-Land-Rover-older-models-Range-Rover-security-tech-keyless-theft.html?fbclid=IwAR0Rv7IF9K0aUeL1lxHn3vtFL-klUjEnpLSYPWDvMbFZkdoHafAtDDyvsWw JLR is doing something about their theft issue, maybe is not the perfect solution, but at least they are trying, they admit they have a problem and are trying to fix it. The thing that annoys me the most is that Lexus could have done an awareness leaflet (email) for every person buying, owning, servicing, or anything to do with having a car from them or using a service they offer, saying that they are aware of the increased numbers of Lexus (or Toyota) being stolen via CAN method and encourage the use or fitting of extra deterrents (steering wheel lock, immobilizer, tracker...), this way people can are aware and prepare. I was servicing my car at Lexus every few months, so they had plenty of opportunities to make me aware. I'm not referring only to me, other people don't use forums or they trust the brand too much to think that this can happen to them, or maybe they think that the car is bulletproof against theft or they don't use the internet to keep up to date, maybe other reasons... Lexus (and Toyota) are losing customers because of this, I won't be buying another Lexus, and if my car is recovered I will sell it straight away... I'm still hopeful... but I'm aware of the fact that even if I'm adding extra deterrents to keep it from being stolen the thieves will still try to steal it and damage will be done every single time... to replace the cable and front bumper is around 6K... In the last week, I got in touch with quite a few people who were in similar positions, Lexus owners... if their stolen car didn't have a tracking system or immobilizer it was never recovered... if they had a tracking system or immobilizer then they were left with the car, but damaged... one person had 4 attempts and after being repaired 3 times (bumper and wiring loom, which takes a few weeks for parts to be delivered and fitted, insurance premium goes up) the 4th time the thieves decided to cut all seats... so far everyone which had their car stolen or vandalized had moved away from Lexus... just by curiosity, try to go to a Lexus dealer and ask if they want your car... they might say that their stock is full... more and more people are realising the hard way that this is not a great car to own because of theft... other than that is amazing, reliable, fuel-efficient... I know that not everyone will agree with me, but I do hope that people are being informed more by the manufacturers... It's a game of cat and mouse, thieves are always finding new ways of stealing, but the manufacturers can make a difference by at least keeping their customers informed and aware... Sorry for the long post, but I do hope this will be read and shared with other Lexus (or Toyota owners)... and I do hope that they are heading in the right direction, maybe trying to fix the problem like JLR... maybe other manufacturers... Have a great day and I'll keep you updated if anything exciting happens....

  4. So if third party companies can develop solutions that can be retrofitted relatively easily then surely Lexus could and should offer a solution.

  8. JLR admited thay have a flaw in the system and trying to fix it from their pocket, maybe it's not the best system, but at least they are trying. https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/cars/article-12774935/Jaguar-Land-Rover-older-models-Range-Rover-security-tech-keyless-theft.html?ito=native_share_article-nativemenubutton Lexus does nothing but loose it's customers, not even a theft prevention leaflet or email. I know it happens to all car manufacturers, but at least try to give the head's up because they know that these cars are vulnerable and the number of stolen Lexus (or Toyota) are on the rise. I trusted Lexus, owned 2 of their cars, but now my trust is broken.

  11. Gonna be a waste of time taking it out and trying to seal it.... ive tried and failed.... For all the effort required to take bumper off and remove headlight.... Just get yourself a new one. See my guide pinned to this forum on how to do it, i even have photo comparing the old headlight with the new one.

  12. Just seconding those before me with some additions. Yes, winter consumption can be fairly higher for a combination of factors. Engine starts cold, takes time to warm up to reach optimal operating temperature. But in a hybrid, also the traction battery takes much longer to warm up which something you really need for fuel economy. The NiMH battery cells need to warm up to 25C or more, ideally, to give you their full benefit of regen and discharge performance. Based on reverse engineering I've seen, there is no active thermal management on the battery pack other than a cooling fan if it gets too hot. The power delivery profile of these hybrids change noticeably once the system is all warmed up, foremost in your low-end electric torque and also the time the engine can spend off in EV mode. With a cold battery, the car feels anaemic which will probably make you apply more throttle, which will be coming from the engine. The other thing other may have not mentioned is air density is greater in winter. This matters if you do 50+ as it increases the drag component of the overall resistance pushing against the car. Some say a naturally breathing engine gets more economical with cold air, but from experience the extra drag outweighs that gain it seems.

  13. Well... I am glad to say, that after tests spread over 3 months, 'no cancer found'. I'll take that. Just another PSA test in 6 months... I feel I know a bit more about prostates (etc) now! Best wishes to EVERYONE, which ever side of the 'cancer fence' you are. Regards, Piers.

  14. We had occasion to use the remote climate app function today and we noted something which might be of use to other owners. We always have the climate control in the car set to Auto with the Concierge set "on" to automatically heat the seats and steering wheel. We used the app to select front and rear defrost but without the seat/wheel heating options. The car responded as required and was ready to go in 10 minutes with clear screens. However, the automatic settings on the car had been overwritten by the app just like if you were sitting in the car and had selected the de-icers manually. In order to get back to the automatic seat heating etc, we had to cycle the Auto button on and off in the car. This seems to restore the previous settings. Is there an app operating manual which gives full details of how it all works? We have noticed a similar overriding functionality of the app before as using the remote lock/unlock function resets our preferred manually set "unlock on Park button" to speed sensitive unlocking which allows door opening while waiting in traffic (not preferred).

This time the car is in the Service station to get the timing belt, waterpump, radiator replaced... I'll tell you if i know more. Have a nice evening! Best regards, Christof

  19. Extremely thoughtful and well written post. Been trying to offload my ES for a few weeks now and have interacted with multiple Lexus dealers over the planned disposal. It has been most telling the interaction with them and when the sale is completed will provide a post about the experience.

  20. Thanks for the prompt reaction. I believe I did nothing incorrectly since the login instructions and procedure are perfectly simple and clear and by no means unfamiliar. The issue seems to have purely concerned password recognition, and now thankfully appears to be resolved.

  21. Sorry to jump i on this late but I had Michelin Cross Climates on my last IS for 4 years and did over 30k miles and they were absolutely brilliant. No pull to left or right, great in wet and especially snow. From what you had been told the tread pattern of a Cross Climate should not have been ok - but in fact it was and I am about to get them fitted to my RC300H.

  22. I solved this problem on my MY23 model by resetting my password to no longer have capitals in it. I couldn't make the uppercase key work on the touch screen in my case. The message hasn't come back since making this change in My Lexus on my workstation.

  23. Said I would keep you guys posted and I am: the Michelin UK contact person replied correcting himself: So now the same tyres turn out to be asymmetrical. Fine. I replied asking: if they all show "outside" why does the thread not mirror-match? And I included an illustration to make sure I get the point across, because this starts to look like a manufacturing error in my paranoid mind.

  27. To my knowledge the seal is not usually replaceable its a sealed unit so to speak. If your good at DIY you will need to remove the bumper & get to the headlight unit & use clear silicone sealant to make it water tight but thats in the hope it will resolve it. Its well out of warranty by now I think you mentioned the car is 2016? Coming upto 8 years wouldnt be a Manufacturer fault as such just wear & tear with age seals become brittle & with a heavy downpour some water maybe finding its way in. The IS300H Headlights are not coded in so you could probably get away with a replacement unit but I bet it would cost a pretty penny. Try ignoring it if you can help it, until it really stands out then just repair or replace.

  28. Had a couple of long trips lately. Took the fuel gauge down to one bar and 20 miles of range, car then took 35 litres (+3l on previous fill) on next fill up. This emboldened me, yesterday, to run the range to zero and keep going. 20 miles past zero (range now showing “refuel”) and zero bars… resulting in getting 40 litres into the tank. With 15 litres still “missing”, it seems I could have pushed a lot further than just 20 miles… Each time, I’ve been rewarded with higher range figures appearing on the dash (broken through 400 for the first time today!). it seems like I’ll need to find trips where I can get the car to zero or close enough, and that each time this seems to enable a bit more fuel to be used and thus replenished - which the car seems, somewhere, to notice and realise. This will hopefully get me back to 50ish litres, but, doesn’t explain what’s caused this to happen….

  29. It is difficult to say if they are the same thieves but I suspect they could be since they knew where the car was for the second attempt. The thing is even if you have a ghost immobiliser, the thieves can still do some damage with the ES ie bumper and loom cable. This issue can still be a problem for the more secured ES 2023 and above (as encrypted CANBUS is programmed instead of 'open' program for all previous ES models) as thieves may try the same technique pulling the bumper out (damaging it) and cutting the loom cable. The risk is very serious as if loom cable cannot be repaired then, you would be looking at near £6k cost for the replacement loom, which would take 3 months at least wait... It would be an insurance claim but overall, the premiums will rise dramatically... Under these circumstances, Lexus should have reviewed this problem much sooner to try and mitigate the vulnerability. It is pretty serious and sadly more of us who owns or owned a Lexus ES will agree with this. Lexus will be loosing customers in the long run. Sad but a fact.

  31. Unfortunately Malcolm there is no Lexus Link+ manual. There doesn't appear to be any further information than that you can find in the android/apple respective app stores in the 'about this app' section. I found that the app overrode my 'open doors on shift to park' too. It seems that we just have to live and learn as we use the app, which has a habit of doing unexpected and frustrating things from time to time.

  34. The other issue with hotels is that they change their pricing almost daily with no relationship to how far ahead one books. I stay in a hotel about once a month on business, usually to a pre-agreed schedule and usually use Premier Inn. As such I book up to 12 months in advance (for each month) using a Flex booking (so I can cancel at any time) and then every month check the prices for all my bookings - if they have come down for any month I rebook at the lower price and cancel the old higher price booking. I have been doing this for a few years and using this method generally manage to get a price for a room that is actually quite low. In fact I often get Flex prices lower than a Saver Rate I would have booked. I also do it for any other bookings I need to make for business or leisure - always book flexible and watch the prices regularly and rebook if it comes down. It's a bit of a pain but that way I avoid paying ridiculous high prices for a room.

  36. I think most new cars are delivered with tyres pumped to a higher than normal pressure. Possibly to minimise flat spots on tyres if the car is stored for long periods. However, tyre pressures should be set correctly as part of pre-delivery inspection.

  37. Drain once the vehicle has gone to sleep should be 0.05 A. This should help, although you need to push in the door switches rather than the latches in the video and you would need to disable the interior sensor on the alarm otherwise it will go off with the doors open:

  42. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to respond. At least I now know it's not something I've done myself!! As others have said, I am now questioning whether I would get another Lexus when I decide to change. This is my first Lexus (apart from an IS200 when they were first launched which was a company car), and the 'Experience Amazing' strap line they use is not appropriate to my experience. Maybe it should be: 'You'll Be Amazed'...............by the number of issues you'll have! 😁

  45. "yet they both look odd with black leather" the caveat being that that is your opinion. I don't agree with the term 'odd', but I would say the Ecru combination is aesthetically more appealing to me. All being said, if the leatherwork people can restore my cars black leather to a 'factory finish' I will take that over unrestored Ecru showing the usual signs of compression of which I have seen many online. Also don't believe 'colour is king'. It is important, but not as important as the overall condition of the car. I did see colour ways I preferred initially to mine, but none were in the condition of the car I bought so that is an example of a choice being made. As time passes this blue has now become my favourite. When you get to polishing distance you can see the glimmer within the blue shimmering. It's got real depth.

  47. As it happens, the recommended tyre pressures by both car and tyre makers are based on those recorded on a cold tyre. The use of a slightly raised pressure would be indicated in the event of unusually heavy loads. This is an extract from a Continental Tyres web page on the subject. I have always considered that the ‘recommended’ pressure is the target figure when cold, on the basis that it is the optimum starting point as neither tyre nor car maker can control the varying weather conditions or driving styles that the tyre may face - even in the course of the same journey. Continental Tyres: Cold tyres. You’ll get a more accurate reading if you check the pressure when the tyres are cold, before the outside temperature rises and the tyres are exposed to direct sunlight. If the outside temperature increases by 10 degrees Celsius, the tyre pressure will increase by 1.6 PSI. In winter, in some climates, tyres could experience a drop of up to 5 PSI.
