  1. I received the key fob is ready letter two weeks ago and visited the dealer to get my second key fob on Wednesday 31 January. As has been said, whatever process they go through to programme the new fob takes about an hour. I also made the dealer aware of a wiper issue and sticky fuel filler cap, which they both addressed (I had no idea the cap popped right out - it was stuck when I went to refill the vehicle for the first time after having driven 1,000 miles!). Not tried the second key as I had to find the ‘blade’ that I had forgotten I had been given, and was worried about the tech breaking again as all is working well right now. Car was washed and vacuumed by Lexus and looks like new again.

  2. After a month or so of searching and with the support of some of you guys on here…… I’ve finally found the car for me. 2004 Silver, Black and Walnut. A lovely, genuine, unmolested, 4 previous owner SC. Driven 220 miles today bringing it to its new home and it drives beautifully….. never missed a beat. Thank you to the guys who gave up their time to advise and direct me. (You know who you are!!!) 👏🏼

  3. Thanks for the help everyone and sorry for the late replies. I've literally just got my car backtogether this evening, it's been in bits since October because life got in the way of things 😆. I bought that radiator you linked BigBoomer and it fits spot on, but I had to cut a slot into the airbox cover in order for it to sit flush because the radiator cap sits quite high. I had alot of stuff that I wanted to change/replace while I was in there, new powersteering resovoir,timing belt,water pump,crank seal, thermostat, pipes etc. I've still got a few things to replace such as rocker cover gaskets and spark plugs but overall a good start. Cheers again.

  5. Managed to dodge the rain this weekend to get my Transmission Service done. The oil that came out was rather black, so hoping some fresh fluid will do it some good. Now at 155569 I’m not sure if it’s ever been done, possible just a flush through previously. Overall it wasn’t such a bad job, hardest part was cutting and grinding off an exhaust bolt so I could release the crossbrace bracket for the exhaust as it was covering some of the bolts I needed to get at to remove the pan. I don’t have Techstream so did the trans temp sequence with pins 4 & 13 connected, which worked well. Fitted new bolts and gaskets for all the drain/fill plugs.

  9. That's not true, depending on what product you use. Normally it is the tyre shop wanting to sell you a new tyre. e.g. Tyreweld is a water based foam which won’t damage your tyres in any way and can be wiped out of tyres easily. You should tell your mechanic before they remove the tyre that you’ve used Tyreweld. Some mechanics might not be familiar with Tyreweld’s formula, so you should inform them that it doesn’t damage tyres and can be wiped out. However it might be that on inspecting your tyre, the repairer has found other damage which makes it unroadworthy. If this is the case, ask for details so you know why the tyre is being replaced.

  10. Test drove a white version of my red car i.e. Takumi Design. The Dealer is awaiting a Demonstrator in my actual spec which is said to be available in before March. Sits lower than the Cross & is more refined. Heavy traffic, rain & appalling roads surrounding the Centre spoilt the experience somewhat. Tel

  11. Folks, get some strong tape like Gorilla tape or something and cut off about 3cm of it. Then wrap it around the striker that is in the centre of the bottom boot lip when the hatch is open. Wrap it around the outermost part of the loop only. One or two turns maximum will do the trick. More than that may stop the hatch locking when you close it.

  12. And I’m sure you will…but not from me as Lexus MK has never managed to persuade me to change my IS250 for a newer model! However, in case you are not aware of them, there is a major Lexus dealer in America who has produced a very detailed and well presented series of videos on Lexus cars. Obviously there may be differences between the two markets, but they are doing what UK dealers should be doing - if not Lexus themselves! Any way, if you’ve not seen it I hope it proves informative.

  13. Hello guys, “I noticed” this loud noise from the trunk arms when closing / opening it, do you have any suggestions to solve it? I heard Lexus changed 3 times the supplier of the arms for some recalls until the v3 seems to work. Anyone that has passed from this experience or recall? Let me know thanks!   14. Just found two further NX videos for the 2022 - 2024 models. Again these may have variations for the American market, but I notice that many of the items demonstrated still apply to my IS250. I expect most of this will be known to the seasoned Lexus owner, but there’s often a new nugget of information that will surprise. And as I say, I’m not aware of anyone in the UK producing anything comparable.

  19. With China there is an underlying issue connected to economic growth or stability, namely people control. Beeing the high tech dictatorship it is it will have to keep the population satisfied/frightened. Fear runs deep within the Chinese community even abroad. I have a Chinese neighbour in my office centre and he told me that even amongst other Chinese he does not talk freely as he once got a call from his mother in China telling him he has to stop talking as they will get into trouble. So, fear rules. But Economic stability is also vital. Lots of Chinese used their savings to invest in the real estate market. They really think that housing always gets more expensive and your money will be safe. Until now. These people lost their money and are protesting in their thousands. If the economy goes down people will stop spending and so on. Social unrest is something the Xiś of the world would want to prevent at any cost?

  22. Thank you again for your prompt reply. Unfortunately no warranty, bought mine used for some years ago from Lexus official importer and used cars company. Originally imported car, one owner, originally from France. My major concern is that even when calibration could be done, if there is a fault in the system/parts, how could I be sure that it would not happen again. I was driving a busy highway just minutes before the fault msgs came up and the brakes were lost. Thank you for your replies, highly appreciated. Will share information on the outcome once I have taken the car to the repair. It is valuable information to all of us IS owners.

Sometimes dips just keep getting deeper and without some strong signal giving a political change of direction that about sums up China.

  29. Thank you so much everyone. I think it’s resolved now, I took to dealers and spent some time with the garage technician. Deleted Lexus plus off phone and deleted everything off car. Set up Lexus plus app with a simple password as others have mentioned only using @ as the symbol, no dashes £ signs etc just @ and I have used a capital letter too, then he reset the car. When connecting he did choose Apple play for me and also added Lexus in Bluetooth. All going well past few days. He even set driver door to only open when I press unlock on key once (twice for rest of doors) as I didn’t want all 4 doors opening each time when I’m on my own and was unlocking. No idea how that’s done but I’m happy with that. One of the ongoing issues which they’re aware of is that if Lexus makes an announcement whilst you’re using apple play like a traffic announcement you can’t hear her voice even though it’s set to loud in the Lexus app. Hope everyone else gets these issues resolved ❤️

  30. That's very low. When I had my NX300H I averaged c41 mpg over a 4 year period and 32k miles. I recorded fuel consumption at every fill (brim to brim) from day 1 and never was as low as 28. I got mid tolow 30's in the winter months and as high as mid 40's in summer. I would get this checked.

  33. C1256= Accumulator C1345 = Linear Solenoid Valve Offset Learning Undone These seem to common codes documented online when the brakes are not bled correctly, for example on Toyota Prius forums. If your car is under warranty the main dealer should fix it for free otherwise they will try to sell you an actuator/abs pump etc which is not cheap! Failing that try to find a Toyota/Lexus specialist with techstream they should be able to perform a calibration/reset once they rule out the issue. 90Km is low mileage for a part to go out. Pls keep us updated interesting in knowing the issue/fix

  35. If the battery capacity has dropped that much I would expect there also to be an impact on fuel economy as the vehicle will be using EV mode much less.

  36. Hey Sean, I got an 07 auto, with 88k on the clock. It's still got its original exhaust. It's been welded when a small hole appeared in the in the middle pipe in 2019 and currently smells of egg when I floor it in the cold but other than that it's fine.

  39. Are you sure you aren’t just reading State of Charge? I don’t believe there is a simple health figure you can read from OBD for NiMH battery hybrid vehicles, it’s part of the reason the hybrid health check takes time whilst they perform several tests. I’m also not aware of any specific figure the pack has to be replaced at, certainly nothing in the UK warranty, unlike the EVs with Lithium Ion batteries. No one here that I recall has had a battery replaced on any Lexus hybrid that wasn’t producing a hard error.

  40. Priority is to get my mechanic friend to give it a thorough health check and service. Almost certainly including plugs and cam belt/water pump replacement. Then it’s a thorough valet/clean inside and out. Take it from there really……. Let the spending commence!!!!

  42. I also did not get any EU safety kit but had one from previous car. Important to note that it must be accessible within the car. If you have luggage, then under the boot would be illegal, certainly in Spain. Also soon needed is a led flasher that can be placed on the roof in place of the yellow triangles.   43. I thought I'd share my experiences having picked up my NX450h+ a couple of days ago. I'm the second owner, the first being a different Lexus dealership who pre-registered the car in late September 2023, so 4 months ago. 35 miles on the clock when I collected it. No second key fob, just the manual key. Their description of when I'd get the 2nd key fob was completely in line with the latest news on this forum. I was also told the "priority order" is based on chassis number, so mine should be coming soon despite only just buying the car. I was also told they will use my address for the letter as the registered owner of the car. I asked about locking wheel nuts/bolts. They hadn't thought of this, but having checked there were none in the car, he said they had been sent a few sets, so it was also supplied and fitted while I was doing all the paperwork. Impressive. The car came with a paper copy of the manual. My fuel flap is sticky. As a result they've ordered a new one and it will be fitted for me in a week or so while I wait So - all in all a good experience so far, and I really like the car.

  44. Sorry to read of your issue. I had a NX300H for 4 years (2018-2022) and probably experienced this problem on about 6 occasions. Have you tried switching the infotainment system off and on again rather than utilising the start button? I found that this was a cure at times. I think it's just a software quirk which reared its head for no apparent reason. Other than that I enjoyed 4 years of totally trouble free motoring covering 32000 miles supported by a great team at Lexus Edinburgh and hope that you enjoy your NX300 as much as I enjoyed mine.

  45. Fitted the Grille this afternoon. Hoping the paint should be fairly durable, I gave it 3 coats of black primer, 3 coats of gloss black paint, then sanded back with 1200grit and applied 3 coats of lacquer. Does look a hell of a lot better!

  46. Instructions for replacing rear wheel bearing hub assembly on Lexus LS430, 2000 - 2007. Hi all. Having read so many threads of how to replace rear wheel bearings, but none with any real detail, I tackled the job myself and thought it may be helpful to give detailed instructions. (Before I forget them...) To ascertain which side is noisy, take a test drive. Pick a smooth surfaced road so you can clearly hear the bearing noise above tyre noise. When going around a right hand bend, the weight of the car shifts to the left, so the left hand bearing will load up and start its classic "wooooommm, wooooommm, wooooommm" noise, which will revert back to just an audible, low pitched consistent growl, which varies in pitch with road speed, when you're going straight. Ditto for the right hand bearing. It will make the noise when going around a left hand bend. Having determined which wheel bearing is at fault, time to replace the bearing. Buy a complete hub assembly. Don't bother trying to replace just the actual bearing out of the assembly. Not worth the hassle. I trawled the net and got a genuine Toyota one for $94.50 delivered. You will need:- Torch or leadlight. Mirror 10mm socket 17mm short socket 19mm socket 32mm 12 point socket (1/2" drive) and either a breaker bar or impact gun. ratchet wrench and a couple of short extensions pliers Medium sized 2 or 3 claw puller (even a relatively cheap one will do the job). A short length (6") of flat steel, say 1/2" wide, which you can bend the last 1/2 " to make a hook at 90 degrees, and the other end to about 1" at 90 degrees the opposite way. Sort of making an elongated Z. Procedure:- Jack up the rear wheel with the noisy bearing, and remove road wheel. Put axle stand under subframe mount at front of wheel arch for safety. Remove brake caliper (2x19mm bolts) and tie up to take strain off brake hose. Remove brake disc (not held on by anything other than roadwheel. Remove split pin from end of axle and remove castellated locking cap. Using 32mm socket and breaker bar (or impact gun) undo axle nut. Remove 10mm bolt from ABS sensor and pull sensor out of the way. Look in the hole and you'll see a hole in the sheetmetal cover over the ABS cog. Spray WD40 into axle splines in hub. You may have to give the end of the axle a gentle tap with a hammer and copper drift to loosen it in the splines. Place puller claws around hub and position threaded part in centre of axle. Tighten puller to push axle towards differential. It will move about 1" to 1.5". Note that you DO NOT have to remove the CV joint rubber boot. (Experience..) The hub assembly is held in place on the hub carrier by 4 x 17mm bolts. They are partly obscured by a round pressed sheetmetal cover protecting the ABS cog wheel. Using the strip of steel which you bent earlier, manoeuvre the end which you've bent 1/2" in behind this sheetmetal cover to hook under it, deep within the hub carrier. You'll need the torch and the mirror to see what you're doing. I used a drift pushing on the other 1" bent end and gently tapped at it towards the centre of the car, in a couple of places around the cover, and it popped out and came loose. This enables you to manoeuvre the 17mm socket with short extension onto all 4 bolts behind the hub carrier. They were not excessively tight, so were relatively easy to undo. Once all out, manoeuvre the drift inside the parking brake mechanism to tap the old hub carrier (which you're replacing) to loosen it. It will eventually move and come away from its circular recess. Carefully pull it out, and clean the circular recess with a fine wire brush or similar. Replace with new bearing/hub assembly and as they say, installation is a reversal of removal. Partly tighten the 4x17mm bolts in diagonally opposite sequence to ensure the hub sits straight in its housing. Then tighten securely. Be careful to align the hole for the ABS sensor on the sheetmetal cover in the same place you saw before when you removed the sensor. Release the puller and let the natural tension in the axle poke it through the new hub. This will push the sheetmetal cover into position, but give it a GENTLE tap from behind to ensure it's seated. Axle nut on & tighten with impact gun or bar. Castellated cover and split pin in. ABS sensor back in and bolted. Brake disc on. Caliper on and tighten 2x19mm bolts. Axle stand out, wheel on & tight, jack out and clean up before touching upholstery..... Job done. Lexie's all quiet again. Old bearing showed signs of rust, hence the noise. Hope this is helpful. Total job time approx 2 hours. Time for a coffee (or a beer...) Regards, Nodding_Dog

  48. So, just to conclude this, I siliconed everything and was suicidal when it was still squeaking. When I could I emptied the boot of everything and discovered the spare wheel wasn't quite clamped completely solidly, a few turns to tighten it has completely resolved the issue... getting silicon spray on North Uist was a challenge and cost me £8 😂 - oh well, sorted.
