  1. It's the same company - Toyota developed the diesel for the European market - not vehicle specific. I agree, I don't see them developing another one. The only option would be to use another manufactures unit.
  2. Have you got a picture of the crack? If it's after the MAF then you will get incorrect fuelling as the MAF will not detect all the air entering the engine.
  3. Filled up last night and the Shell garage I used had Optimax at 99.9p. Has anybody seen over £1 for a litre of fuel?
  4. you need a master key to program the vehicle for a new key. The procedures have been posted on LOC before - worth doing a search.
  5. you can cut the speed signal going to the system but that would probably affect fuel computer and sat nav position if the GPS signal is lost.
  6. It's the signal quality rather than strength that is really important. However 70% strength seems good enough, does the card state what speed it's running at, e.g. 54, 48, 36, 24, 18, 12, 11, 9, 6, 5.5, 2, 1? Are there any other access points in the area? Have you tried changing the channel? What actual throughput are you getting? 802.11G will only give around 22Mbps real throughput when running at 54Mbps and this reduced the greater the distance from the base station. Does your base station have TNC connectors on it to accept an external antenna(s)? You can get many different designs of external antenna which have extra gain and also send out the signal in different patterns so you can choose one to match the shape of your building.
  7. The engine ECU is able to alter timing etc if low octane fuel is used, it wouldn't cause the engine to blow. There must have been a serious problem with the engine/fueling system
  8. Yes the GS doesn't ride that well for the type of car it is. New shocks probably won't fix the issue unless you go for a complete new coilover springs/shocks replacement. You should be able to improve things by altering the wheel geometry by somebody who really knows what they are doing.
  9. your Lexus dealer will have, otherwise look on ebay as people often sell off their old discs. If you are looking for a copy then you have come to the wrong place, illegal activity will not be discussed on these forums.
  10. find out how much they are charging for the coolant change. Also how much they charge for the oil. Some dealers charge up to £70 for oil.
  11. road noise is probably the OEM tyres. The new IS250 is also very bad for this.
  12. I'm not sure Toyota/Yahama have used both systems. It's probably over on the IS200. I believe it's under on the RS200 engine because shims used to fall out at very high engine speed on older revisions of the engine so they changed the system.
  13. I've tried a US key with a UK vehicle and it doesn't work, must use a different frequency.
  14. Lexus cars always rattle. On the US forums they always complain about this sort of thing. Their basic opinion is if you want a reliable car get Toyota/Lexus if you want rattle free get something else. My IS200, RX300, GS300 and GS430 have all had rattles. So have all the loan and test vehicles I have driven (including the LS430).
  15. the turbo will only be full boost it you have the throttle wide open. The IS220D and the Avensis 2.2D use the same engine, a 2.2l D4D. Has anybody been on TOC, do the Avensis 2.2 owners also get poor mpg?
  16. if you look at the workshop manual you will find the tolerances for the speedo, it is designed to read over. The tolerances are different for different countries, for example in Aus the tolerance is much tighter.
  17. all Toyotas rev high when cold. It's their way of reducing emmisions by warming up the engine quicker.
  18. if you get refurbed wheels then they should last longer than if they put on new ones. You only hear of problems on these forums, the majority of RXs have no problems.
  19. there should be two adjusters on each of the lights, one for vertical and the other for horizontal adjustment.
  20. it was the other way around. Pre 1999 it was 9k service intervals and 63k cam belt, 1999 + it is 10k service intervals and 100k cambelt. also pre 1994 it was 6k service intervals and 60k cam belt. Basically they keep extending the service intervals to stay inline with other manufacturers and pressure from large fleet company in this country as they try to save costs.
  21. The first one is more restrictive on the turbos. Removing that gives you a bit more boost without doing anything else as the standard boost controller relies on a set amount of backpressure for calibration.
