That's just bloody typical isn't it. Sad idiots....

If it's any consolation, I've parked in many dodgy areas (!) in my time, and the only time I had any similar vandalism was when I was parked in a posh part of Oxford. Oh yes, I was driving an oldish Rover 214 at the time, and the sods scratched or keyed the entire way down the passenger side of the car.

Really feel for you mate - can only put it down to jealousy

People do this type of thing for one reason only....JEALOUSY

They will never, ever own anything like this in their miserable lives, and the only time they'll ever drive one is when they rob one for the night! Sad, but true.

....And this is the price we'll all keep on paying because we choose to drive a class motor.

Have you tried chipsaway to repair the damage?

There is road near me that is a little posh, and there is one of these "so called" posh tosspots that thinks its fine to key peoples cars for parking in the street (Legally).

Yeah I know **** happens and all that - but it still p :tsktsk: s you off!!!!

Have not tried to get it sorted at all yet, across the bonnet its about 25inches in length, and deep enough to create a groove down to the metal! Not sure Chips away could deal with it to be honest - might be worth a call though I guess.

Still think I will leave it till March time to get fixed, once all the gritters have stopped spreading and all the road are NOT so dirty!!!!

Thanks for your thoughts.......feel better already ;-)

Sorry to hear about the damage, I know jut how you feel. My IS was just 2 weeks old when some careless :tsktsk: ker in a car park decided to put a dent smack bang in the middle of the door! Cost me £70 for Dent Magician to fix it, so I went and bought a '91 Astra off a mate for £200 and always use that when parking at the supermarket.

Interesting what people say about posh people keying cars parked legally. There's a couple down my road who are just like that! Once when the road was busy, I had to park the Astra outside their house overnight. In the morning I found it had been keyed - 2ft scratch along the rear wing. Similarly, I had to park the Soarer there a couple of weeks ago... hey presto, scratch on front wing. Wouldn't blame someone if they put cat poo through their letterbox!! :whistling:

It makes you feel physically sick doesn't it.

A couple of years ago, when we lived in an particularly grotty area near Heathrow, we complained to a couple of neighbours about the behaviour of their kids (vandalism etc). Hey presto, went to put the car in the garage to find every single door had been bricked, rear screen smashed to smithereens etc. :tsktsk:

Jealous :tsktsk: don't realise that the majority of people work hard to get things - an alien concept to these miserable :tsktsk:

Well, until this morning i had been quite lucky with damage to my cars.

Went out to the lex, as i had to park it on the side of the road last nite (unfortunatley a regular occurence until i move house). I always fold the mirrors, put the stop lock on the steering wheel for what it's worth, clear the seats etc etc, and double lock it on the key fob.

I also always take the ariel off it, as i have a silver bee-sting shaft, and i had valve caps nicked off my 306 about 8 months ago because they were crome ones, and the little scrotes nicked two of them for their bikes. :tsktsk: .

Anyways, to cut a long story short, i forgot to take the ariel out last nite, and when i got to the car today, it wasn't straight, so i put my hand on it to take it out and straigten it, and the fu :tsktsk: ing thing brok off, leaving the screw thread in the hole. it's fluch in there, and i have no idea how i'm gonna get it out.

Why do people do this kind of thing? i've worked so hard to get this car, and then it gets damaged. i know it's only minor damage compared to some of the posts in here, but it still really pis :tsktsk: es me off big time.

Anyone have any ideas about getting the screw thread out?

Stu

P.S. bring back vigilante hit squads for those who vanalise cars.

sorry this is of no help to your aerial problem but
and double lock it on the key fob

on your age of car doesn't it always double lock and the second press is just turning off the interior microwave sensor.

the at the dealership told me that it ouble locks wen you press it twice, but to be honest, i have no idea!

when i press it once the indicators flash once, when i press it again, the indicators flash another 5 times.

is it, or isn't it? that is the question! :P

five flashes is the interior sensors being disabled. I think you will find it always double locks.

Do a test. Open a window, lock the car with the remove and see if you can reach in and unlock and open the door. I don't think you will be able to.

Newer models do need a second press to double lock (2001 onwards??)

i'll try that in the morning m8, it would be interesting if what the dealer told me was wrong. I'll let you know the result of the test 2moro!

Hi folks

It makes me really sad (and incredibly angry) to read about the damage done to your cars. I suppose it's jealousy that makes some 'people' think that it is ok to wreck something that the owner has worked long and hard to buy.

rgiblin - I hope the damage is sorted out with minimum hassle, and that you can get back to enjoying your car at its best.

All the best

i don't think they are jealous, and they sure as hell don't care how hard you worked for the money; they do it because it gives them a buzz. they know that millions of cars are parked at the roadside, untended, just waiting for them to damage. so, which one gives the best buzz? naturally, the best one! unless it's one of their contemporaries, in which case they just do it out of spite, knowing full well that their chances of getting caught are miniscule.

and i bet the 'posh' gits also get a buzz out of it, just knowing they did it and didn't get caught!

even CCTV isn't guaranteed to help; when a yob ran over my car, (bonnet, roof and boot all dented) i rang plod to make sure they'd recorded it, but they told me the cameras weren't manned at the time!

Nope! You're all wrong! It's not Jealousy and it's not quite a buzz. I've worked a lot in London and I know what I'm talking about.

We're talking sad little B's. Apparently most of them are suicidal hence the sad bit. They're failures, frustrated by their inability to succeed in life. This is why Arnold Rimmer is interested in military weapons. It's because he's all keyed up, ready to fight the next battle in their sad little life having had so many failures. Typically SLBs buy a copy of Sun Tsu's Art of War too. Their favourite saying is 'it's a dog eat dog world'.

These Nelson Muntz's take a swipe back at a society which continually tells them they're mentally retarded. This is because they're mentally retarded. Note Nelson Muntz has a weird hobby; a ten year old boy who bakes cakes. I haven't quite figured this one out yet but I know of a SLB in London who is into cake decorating. The best I can work out is that it gives them one of their few pleasures in life at actually being able to do something. You can spoil it by showing them you're better at it. A lot are into juggling too. One SLB I grew up with was always doing things and then asking you what you thought about it. Sometimes it was really sad pathetic achievements which absolutely everyone else was better at.

Typically few normal people actually converse with these emotionally disturbed screw-ups. There's nothing in there to communicate with. Those that do patronise them, which is what they want. They enjoy doing things to annoy others. I knew of one girl who had her bicycle chain stolen! The one that locks the bike not the one around the sprockets.

Played against Borstal kids in the under-17s table-tennis years ago. Same SLBs. I was trying to let this kid win and he still lost. Threw the bat across the table. I was catching some of his bad shots which were a foot and a half above the end of the table. The SLB complained saying I shouldn't catch them.

Dr. Winston of test-tube baby fame did a series on TV including one episode where he mentioned that most people before about age 9 haven't yet controlled their emotions. These kids throw tantrums etc. Sadly SLBs continue into old age like this.

This is what Nazism was all about. In the 1930s depression which hit Germany particularly hard, the National Socialist German Workers Party or Nazi party was against rich people and against foreigners though the line drawn was a fuzzy one in both cases. In other words it was protectionist. They basically threw a tantrum and Hitler fed them with propaganda about how there were the master race to soothe their battered egos.

In days of old, you'd send them off to war, give their widow a pension and a posthumous medal and everyone would be a lot happier including the SLB.
