Just Bought LS 460 SE-L 29,000 miles 2007  its in almost as new condition..... But what should I look out for engineering wise to need attention first .. which bits are vulnerable to make trouble first ????  and wheres the Sat Nav CD  Head unit or Glove Box????   The car drives like a Bentley...

amazing find to be sure !

BUT rather too low a mileage to have done it any good over 11 years :whistling:  ......... BUT then I did buy my Mk2 Ls400 with just 8542 miles at 13 years, and she was outstandingly amazing too with zero issues right until the end of her ................ as a write-off in 2011

so I'm hoping you will be absolutely fine too, after all, it is a Lexus ......... well done,  lucky you :yahoo:

I don't know about the UK models but my SATNAV DVD player is in the glove box. I have a 4 disc set which covers all of Europe and Turkey.

Enjoy your 460, with so few miles on it,  there really shouldn't be any problems. According to the US forum the front suspension steering links and air suspension can be a concern. That said, my 2007 with 85,000 miles hasn't had any troubles worth mentioning.

I think I saw the advert for this one when I was re-evaluating mine and if it's the one I'm thinking of it looked lovely so congrats.

The satnav disk was in the glovebox in my 2006 SE-L - you eject it via the OSD and then I replaced it with the E1G v2 2018 update disk and it works fine - you can save a lot of money by buying just the GB disk from eBay, it was around £20.

My LS460 has spent 4 weeks out of the 8 weeks I've owned it in the garage - not what I was expecting at all tbh and after another day at the garage today (faulty brake bad wear sensor) I'm hoping I'll get some mileage out of it now!

I've got all the diags on hand and know my way around Techstream and the Intelligent Tester 2 quite well now 🙂 I won't leave the house without the Carista OBD2 dongle and IT2 in the boot just in case it throws an error as it has been that bad.

So far I've had a full service at Lexus, a 4 wheel geometry (although the steering wheel doesn't seem quite straight after two attempts by Lexus), replaced the control arms, sorted out an issue with the front brake pad wear sensor, programmed in a new spare wheel with TPMS, replaced the front radar sensor and the front Lexus emblem (that literally took three weeks alone to figure out and was £££), fitted new Osram Xenarc Nightbreaker Laser HID bulbs and I've got new brake disks and pads to go on but I've been advised to wait 3 or 4k first as the old ones are still not that bad.

Definitely get the 4 wheel geo done to minimise tyre wear, get the control arms and bushings checked and see how you go from there. Hopefully I've just been very unlucky.

Also check your sunroof - it seems pretty common they hold water and rust away - mine has done.

Techstream is a worthwhile investment to see exactly where you stand in terms of issues - the cheaper cables can't do everything though so it may be worth spending a bit more on something like the VCX Nano instead of the old 1.4x firmware cables you can find on eBay.

I was seeing some misfires in Techstream which cleared up with a few tanks of V-Power and an Italian tune up and I've got a can of BG44k ready to throw in before the next service which should clean the insides nicely.

I beg to differ on the low mileage causing harm to the car.

My Mark 4 had 19k on it at 14 years old( one owner )now its got 42 k on it after my 6 years of ownership and it as never missed a beat and still runs and performs like it came of the factory floor this morning

I guess it depends on whether its been used for lots of short journeys or simply not used.

I bet that having such an unused interior is a real treat!!! I’m much more tempted by low mileage cars myself these days because the thing I always consider when people boast that high mileage is nothing to certain engines you have to remember the mileage will take its toll on the rest of the car such as the gearbox, suspension components, steering, brakes, seats, switches and buttons etc. My Mondeo is 17 years old and has only done 57k and everything still feels tight and like new. I once had an 18 year old Ford Escort with only 13k on it!!! It was a real timewarp car being like brand new throughout.

I’d say at 29,000 miles it’s not even run in yet!!! Congratulations on the new car, be sure to post some photos for us all to drool over!!! 😂😂😂

Malc    your right the car was stood in a heated garage (owner was ill)  for a long time and the brakes and discs and brakes and tyres all needed to be replaced... but that was it,,  Its only had one owner and the cars number plate was "TAX 1" TAXI   needles to say it did not come on the car it was worth about £90,000 alone...  would have been nice... I have fitted my own personal plate now  ....

Apologies for the 'dig' about stuff earlier (made with a smile!).

The tale from Aido is a cautionary one! Modern cars are so complex. There's been a string or several about this on Petrolheads etc..

We lucky folk who had LSs from 93-00 seem to have unearthed a gem of a car.

I'm often tempted to look out for a Soarer to continue my Lexus life, for the same reason.

(A friend had his Peugeot (806?) written off...because the Wiper computer couldn't be fixed!)

2CVs suddenly look attractive?

I bought my LS 430 at 13 year's old and 31,000 miles used.

Always been a fan off low mileage, well serviced, kept in a garage, cars.

Now up to 63,000. Drives beautifully. Sorry, we do not drive.......we waft. The key with old cars is to over-service them. The interior is mint, as is the body and engine.

The key question mind you is .......how much did you pay.

Low mileage never really bothered me that much with these big engines until I bought my Celsior.  Like you I have 63k on it now and it's immaculate, the only LS I've had out of 5 that I can truly say that about.
