The arse does the talking, the rest is just not worthy..

I'm sure it will grow on me... Wonder if they do a Japanese Altezza model :D

no they wont, all new Lexus are just that Lexus, none are based on any Toyota platforms, as an entity Lexus is a company in its own right now, and has its own Factory

obviously still owned by Toyota Corp,

sure does! i wasn't too sure from the 1st set of pics but now i've seen others aswell & given them a good check out - i like lots! :D

now as i'm a bit of a numpty  , could somebody pls explain in laymans (or should that be layWoman's ;) ) terms what this actually means for performance/driving experience???

new IS250 - 400nm @ 2000-2400 RPM

against my current IS300 - 288nm @ 3800 RPM

how can the diff in torque be THAT much!! is the new one a rocket ship?? or am i missing something (apart from a techincal side to my brain!) as i said, forgive me for driving a Lex & not knowing basic stuff like this...:tomato::blush:

The diesel will basically pull much better in lower gears, to be honest I guess it means on an auto you wouldn't need kick down as much and on a manual you could leave it in higher gears and it would always pull - mine feels like she's going to stall sometimes if I try pulling away at 2000 rpm

And as for the mods, they've already started !

Andi can you get a head on View of the old IS200 and put it with the new IS250.

the A pillars/windscreen and roof line look identical to the "Classic" IS200

My car looks very old :blush::crybaby:

But you can see, that the new IS has some influence of the old one.

Now I'll ask this here:

Which one looks better:

The murder is out. It's the IS  :D  beyond all question

At least BMW designers know how to flow a body line, Lexus designers don't, look at the bonnet line on the IS in relation to the front grill line, it does not flow, it's jagged line. Now look at the Bonnet line to the line by the headlight on the BMW. The body line flows from begin to end

The broken line is a styling element. You see it all over the new IS. Even headlights, rear door, rear light and so on. It's for getting a bit more live into the design.

If they weren't there everybody whould say, that it's to waveless and clean.

Not sure I agree, the front looks unbalanced and looks like a 1st year student done the design. All classic designs have flowing lines. The look of the new IS doesn't flow.

i dont like the wood either, i dont like wood in cars full stop, doesnt make it feel luxury to me, just makes me feel like im in an old mans car.

Bang on. Wood out Man!

Back end, and instruments are okay. Front is pant's, those wing mirrors?

Not too keen personally. Squint a bit and it looks like a Mazda 6, with an Accord/Alfa rear end.

Saying that it must be so difficult to design a car that looks like no other on the market though.

And I can also see a Hyundai Coupe theme going on. Anyone else see this, or is it just me? :tomato:

Hmm watched part of the launch video from Geneva. Looks better in that than the stills. Q is would you buy it over a BMW/Merc/Audi which is what made me buy my first IS ....hmm...maybe

Reserving judgement until seen in the flesh. But I don't like those door mirrors and is that a handle for manually operating the moon roof above the interior mirror.

Well each to his own but I think the BMW looks like someone sawed it up and then glued it back together - but not quite in the right place.

I like the new IS except:

The front looks a little "pinched" - like the grill is too narrow.

The interior looks very nice but just a little plain - the old interior was distinctive (if not everyone's cuppa).

The mirrors look like they came off an SUV or something - they are friggin huge.

New rear lights are quite nice (if a little Alfa/Peugeot) - Want to see them lit up. I guess they are LED?

is that a handle for manually operating the moon roof above the interior mirror.

It looks like one of those where the roof opens in proportion to how far you turn the knob round (but still electric).

Can't seem 'em fitting a manual roof.
