Best Looking Japanese Car Ever?

Recommended Posts

300zx was stunning in it's day, still doesn't look bad now either.

Controversial, but I never liked the looks of the MX-5 much, always thought MG TF (not F!) was much better looking, but eventually I got to drive both and MX-5 a much better drive.

New GT-R is gorgeous.

I can't help thinking though that the best looking Japanese cars were in the 1990's, recently there's not been much I like apart from the Lexus range and the GT-R

The MX5 is such a pretty little car and so chic... Ugly women and blokes should be banned from driving them.. For a small saloon you would have to go Italian before you found something as good looking and as unpretentious as the IS200/300... Its the slim lady in the little black number of the car world....Grrrr

Yes, but was the MG ya drove supercharged? Makes all the difference!

(Non charged) these are both hairdresser's cars though! (Says me, with a white convertible Vitara Fatboy!)

the japanese were not very good at producing good looking cars in the early years

and for a car to be labelled the "best looking car ever" it needs to have passed the "still looks good in 10,20, or 30 years time"

as with most modern day cars , they look good now but by next year they are run of the mill mingers

one that stands out for me is the nissan 240z, its now nearly 40 years old and still looks good

I always quite liked the Mitsubishi one, can't remember the name, 3000GT I think :)

Having said that, I don't really think many Japanese cars from the past are that great design wise, they always seem to be inferior copies of something European..............however now that trend does seem to be changing, the 350Z is a great looking car and the LF-A is absolutely stunning imho :)

The Nissan 200SX, the Mazda RX7 or the current Subaru Legacy Outback.

Crazy as this may sound, I always liked the 1996 model year Mazda 626 and the current Mazda 6 is pretty. The Lexus GS mk1 was nice too.

I think the 350Z, Skyline, Lancer Evolution and Impreza and the GTR are just vulgar.

IN my opinion, It has to be the gorgeous HONDA NSX, especially with the pop up lights. A true legend and as i remember the great Ayrton Senna had a hand in making this car.

Also cult status in pulp fiction.. Mr Wolf?

I've got to say it's interesting how people seem to look at Japanese cars slightly differently to others, if the question had been what's the best looking american car, people would have been saying 60s mustangs, ac cobras, etc. And if it had been european cars, we would have been talking about gorgeous Ferraris and Lamborghinis.........

Obviously some have taken the same route with the Jap cars, but there's a fair number that have gone for the street racer type car (as in a pretty hideous car to start with that's had some serious body modification and big alloys) :whistling:

Not having a dig or anything, just an observation that I found interesting

This car, the MITSUOKA OROCHI was said to be the ugliest Jap sportscar ever.... What are your thoughts?

The engine is the same as in the Lexus RX300! Cost around 48K
