I'm doing a fair amount of dual carriageway & motorway miles at the moment, and it's always MPVs that are tearing past at a ton (where there's no cameras)!

So, what's the age limit for being a boy racer?

Back in my youth I had an E-reg Renault 5GT Turbo, and the Maestro Turbo would certainly give it a run for it's money. Plug ugly tho! Strange, I sold the Renault and bought a Xantia Activa Turbo.... bad move that was!

well I cant hide anymore..lol I use to have a meastro turbo too.. Well for about 3 months that was up until I hit a stationary P100 pick up truck in the rear at about 60mph.. and wrote the mg off .. almost wrote myself of too. to give an indication of impact bonnet came up to windscreen which luck would have it stopped most of the rad comiming through. it also wrote of the pick up

Agree with you, Mudz.

Let's perhaps try and break down "modders" into 4 groups..

First Generation: Novas, Corsas, Saxos, little power, big wings, loud stereos.

Second Generation: Mr2's, Cosworths, Evo's - big power, quick cars, not particularly expensive.

Third Generation: Lexus, and generally more expensive "base" cars - where drivers TEND to be older, and more mature due to the higher expense of the car

Fourth Generation: Ferraris, Nobles, Cerberas. Big money, silly power, tend to use power only on tracks rather than 30mph limits!!

Now......in my experience with them, the Lax Brigade don't actually drive that fast (many of them CAN'T). I admit, they don't tend to be the best drivers in the world, but they have 200kg of body kit in a car with a 1.3litre engine and no torque. They would tend do to burnouts in a carpark at midnight, rather than 80mph along a street.

The second generation are the worst I think. These are the guys with slightly older cars, big power, and they tend to drive like tw@'s. I have one of them in my office. 400bhp Mr2....nice car, but he does silly speeds in silly places.

I think the clarity between the different groups is important. I used to own a heavily modified (engine wise) Escort Cosworth. I bought it because I love the car, and always have. I really only used the power on m/ways, dual carriageways, and only truly on tracks. BUT, I was tarnished with the "second generation" label. And I don't deny it, many of the other members of the R S O C were, well - quite frankly - tw@'s.

So....where am I going with this, you may ask ?

Well......to conclude a post that could go on for evermore.....

I think it is the second generation groups (as per my definition above) that drive like idiots, and do stupid speeds in foolish places - simply because they have cars that can.

Tony...fully agree with your post mate....to add a little more, IMHO...

First and Second generation drivers both take risks in their cars....however, the second generation are doing so in cars that can handle it more, plus they have a better understanding of their cars and their capabilities....they know that they are risking it but still take the risks none the less.

The first generation drivers tend not to realise that they are driving a weapon and think that anything is possible with a set of alloys and some Spax springs and will do anything to get in front of you....they have no idea about how to drive a car and when they wreck their car / life and another persons car / life it makes them realise!!

I am from Bedfordshire, near the 'Home of Vauxhall@, Luton! Theres :tsktsk: Corsa's everywhere! There almost always done up with no taste whatsoever!

Sometimes I want to make them crash, just to watch them trying to take all those modifications off before the insurance companies come to look at them!!

like tony said its all about what class you fall into im only 21 and i drive a lex people may look at me and call me a boy racer if im up town on a sunday night or may think im a drug dealer cause im in a lex lol im none of the obove i just love me lex and if i up town on a sunday night im pimping it not raceing it lol oh and for sure the worst has to be the idiots in saxo's i was in a 1990 h reg honda accord 2.0 auto and i raced a vts off the lights and beat him all i could hear was him on the limiter in 1st so funney due the way he was looking at me granddad car at the lights you should have seen his face at the next set i said not bad for an auto pmsl :lol: :P :duh:

I sometimes think people get the same sort of idea about mine - don't know if the number plate has anything to do with it - it ends with PCP !!!

When I get the front tints done tomorrow that should really push it over the edge :)

i was in the local paper dissing them 2 weeks ago.

1 quote is "why do people in white cavaliers with 2 fast 2 furous turn up to a jap car meet".

This was all because I left earley and the meet was overrun at the end by euro trash.

I think that there is a lot of snobbery about - anyone who mods a car is passionate about cars - does it matter that they are in to Vauxhalls/Fords/Lexus/Skodas. They share a passion for cars and making them individual. So what if they can only afford a Corsa, does that make them any less passionate about their car.

I for one have seen some excellent Corsa's/Nova's and clearly shows that the owners have put in a lot of time, money and sweat in to their hobby, no different to a lot of people on this site. There are also a lot of crap ones but then we all have to start somewhere and at least they have tried. I'd also like to point out that in the LOC gallery there are some bloody awful modded Lexus cars too. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder after all.

In terms of modding - I've got a telephone car kit - will I mod mine? In my dreams yes, in reality probably not as I can never quite see the sense in paying out lots of money on something that will only depreciate quicker the more I spend on it. I might be tempted to but a modded car that someone else has done, at a suitable discount of course.

Then again I am a Yorkshireman and as you know the definition of a Yorkshireman is a Scotsman with all the generosity squeezed out of him ;)

well my pet hate is any car with those *** awful neon washer jets, i feel like walking up to the car with a hammer and hitting them till they break.

other than that i hate the fact they know their cars are cheap and are willing to put everyone else at risk because they are not bothered about the car!

All the novas corsas & fiestas :sick: - with lexus style lights, seatbelt harnesses (the velcro ones) and 13" alloys -- the worst is when they have big exhuasts and you can hear the lawnmower under the bonnet (tap tap tap tap) :lol::lol: you just gotta laugh :lol::lol:
