  1. Thanks for all the help and advice everyone, much appreciated! Richard fitted my new battery today and it drove back down to London beautifully. Much better than on the way up, where it cut out 4 times on the drive, including once when I was overtaking a lorry (scary as hell!) So much nicer now its not doing that. I was mildly satisfied with how the car was performing before, but its like a completely different animal with the new battery, the accelerator is much more responsive and it handles cruising on the motorway far better AND I got nearly 40mpg on the way home, up from ~27 previously! Strongly recommend Richard at hybrid battery solutions to anyone who has any issues with their hybrid batteries.

  2. Hi there, If you have settled on a NX then maybe go for the Premier so that you get all the gadgets etc (and take advantage of cheaper tax than say a new one hehe) My mum drives a 2014 IS 300h premier and it has alot of gadgets on it 🙂 However, I had a 2020 RX loaner today and the RX rides unparalleled in comparison to others in range as it is very soft and comfortable 🙂

  4. Hi John yes to having one final chance to fix the water ingress and Lexus Glasgow have the car just now for the new issue as it’s got extended warranty (bought the car in July last year). Don’t really want to drive it down to Carlisle until it’s fixed incase irreparable damage is done

  5. COVID-19 is a respiratory infection and as such the only form of transmission is by droplets containing the virus, dispersed through coughing and simple exhalation. These droplets are either caught in the hand or fall on surfaces where the virus can survive for ~72hrs, less on softer surfaces sch as clothing. Droplets exhaled by an infected person, be they symptomatic or asymptomatic, can then be either inhaled by another person directly or picked up from a surface (door handle etc.) and transferred to eyes, nose or mouth by touch with contaminated hands. The virus does not penetrate the skin and must enter the body via a mucosal membrane. Hence the emphasis on social distancing, hand washing and avoiding touching one's face. Bottom line is we are all (well at least 80%) of us going to become infected at some point. The vast majority will survive and establish herd immunity. This hopefully will protect us when the virus returns next season. Unless of course it mutates as do the more common influenza viruses. Either way COVID-19 will in all probability join the other corona-viruses endemic in the human population.

  6. Hi There Need to see what the consensus is here ..... I'm looking to change from a 2011 RX450H SE-L which we have been really happy with all round, to an NX but can decide on a Luxury or Premier. So my question is should I opt for: A 2016/17 NX Luxury Slightly older NX Premier Both with same sort of mileage. So question really is age over gadgets/functions, coming from an RX. Thank you in anticipation of your comments.

  9. Hey everyone, I hope you are well? (& keeping safe) I recently got a NX loaner from Lexus Glasgow whilst my IS was in for a service. (could not fault the dealership, excellent service) I was really impressed with the NX (this being a base model with a pack on it, I believe. The car drove more smoothly than my IS and I loved the heated steering wheel!! (It didn't have cooled seats but who needs that in winter) I managed around 34mpg on the day I had it and the lofty driving position was good. I love the colour too, I think it is called sonic white? I made a video of my loaner NX if anyone wishes to check out the latest NX? Thomas 🙂

  11. Hi Harry, Apologies for the delay in replying. I am indeed still making lenses......clear, smoke, red and amber. Unfortunately, as there was zero interest for the clear fogs which have another application, i.e the Gen7 Celica, I couldn't justify the time and cost of making the moulds for the SC430 front sides. In addition, I think the units are the type where the lens is bonded to the backing part. This needs careful separation/cutting to refit the clear lens. Not a job most Lexus owners would entertain me thinks. I have recently done clear side markers for the USDM MR2 Mk1 which I believe are similar construction, but these were to compliment and fronts and side which I already make. Also make clear front side indicators for the JDM MR2 Mk2, which match my clear rears If you have your spare side markers to hand, I'd be interested to see close up pics and dimensions. Best Regards, Richard

  13. Hi Steve, I've had the air strut/ shock absorber replaced today with a second-hand part I bought from Nippon Auto Spares In Derby for £129. The part is in very good condition and has transformed the driving experience. Turns out that the old strut had a worn bush at the bottom that allowed vertical movement of about 2cm, so was very skittish on uneven road surfaces and when pushed on that corner. I've got the old strut in a box in the boot of the car, so just let me know when you'd like it to be picked up. Regards, Adrian

  14. COVID-19 has similiar symptoms to influenza. The issue is we don't have a vaccine so the vulnerable i.e. older people, immunocompromised are unlikely to do particularly well. The majority of people will fight it off within 7 days. Remember that children are carriers and are asymptomatic so limiting the spread of COVID-19 is actually quite difficult as theyll be the ones spreading it more than adults. Personally, I wouldn't put any restrictions at all and establish herd immunity quicker.

  15. Same problem, same solution. Removed engine cover, undid cap, no liquid. Poured in just over pint to fill, recapped, ran engine for a minute, rechecked level, then ran engine up to temperature. Heater came on and stayed on. Drove round town for ten minutes, heater didn’t cut out at all. 😊😊😊

  16. The risk is you may break the plugs and then the relocation is not as precise ,if you take it off refix with a 3m silicone ideally marine grade.

  17. It's between 5 and 6 minutes [yawn] So I got some tints applied on Friday. Here are some predictably poor photos. I think it looks rather swish. Even Freda said the car looks better and she hates it.

  18. The moulding on the wheel arch simply pulls off there may be some silicone on the inside faces but the fastenings are push fit plugs, if there is any corrosion behind the moulding you may end up with bigger holes were the plugs fit.

  19. Not sure I understand your comment Colin. Are you saying that Lexus Carlisle have agreed your terms for allowing them one final chance to correct the problem? And are you saying that your car now has an additional problem, namely that of an engine warning light has come on ? If the answer to this last question is yes, then they must investigate that and correct at their expense too.

  20. Or threaten to issue a summons in the small claims Court to cover the cost of repair. (very inexpensive and covers amounts up to £5000) That often focuses the mind I have found.

  21. Hi all - my first post as a) I am due to take del'y of my first Lexus soon and b) already looking at how vulnerable the Car will be per the stealing of its CAT(s) I asked the Dealer at the time of buying what the position was re defenders for the CAT and they said something akin to "we have nothing at the moment" and they did not ever say anything as helpful as your research above is suggesting. My mind is much more settled if your research is correct and I have no need to doubt it of course. Wonder if there is a Catloc for NX coming along or iyo does it actually need one ? Many thanks Bamboozled

  22. You really need to compare the spec sheets of both models to decide whether you are willing to compromise. Another important factor to consider is that, based on your original entry, your budget might afford you a pre-facelift Premier... or a facelifted Luxury. The facelifted version has additional spec, including a newer, wide screen satnav. This wide screen satnav may soon be eligible to be retrofitted with Apple Carplay / Android Auto. Worth checking with the dealer.

  24. Some press cars are just used for road testing, others on the track. Lexus will only replace what is needed. Just about every GS F on the road was either a press car, demonstrator, or Toyota staff car - no one brought one at full price!
