  6. Just traded in my IS-F for a GS-F so I thought I had better say hi, had the car a week and just got back from a 3 day stint in Wales, very impressive.

  7. Hello GS-F Well I have done it, I have been torn for a few months now, do I want to change the IS-F and if so do I go for an RC-F or the GS-F, no other brand was in the frame, anyway I took a trip to Lexus Cheltenham on Saturday to look at a GS-F they had in stock, I know the history of the car and they put together what I think is a good deal, so its now sat on the drive. I know its clichéd but I found it very difficult to let the IS-F go, on the way to drop it of I was reminiscing about the trips I had done in it, the runs out with some of you guys and blasts across Europe, it really is an epic car and the GS-F will have its work cut out to match it. There was no one particular reason why I changed it was a number of things and to me the GS-F was always a natural progression. One last thing, I wont be going over to the GS forum, I am staying here, you will have to put up with me a while longer. The colour...................do you really need to ask.........................

  8. Thanks both. Ordered one today, with the extra 'tangs' although it was one of them broke off the p.o. filter tool, as that's the bit I found lol. Fingers crossed it was just a cheap and knackard tool which broke and not a sign of a welded shut filter housing. Hopefully will do it this weekend, will report back. Fingers crossed!

  19. I know what you mean. The sound quality from the Lexus iPod thing is fine but the functionality is rubbish. One way I’ve got round the limitations to a small degree is by creating playlists. The various playlists give me a degree of control over the type of music I’m in the mood for and saves the random ‘play everything’ mode, when I go from gangsta hip hop, to audio book, to nursery rhyme, to a German language course, to classical. Playlists aren’t ideal but better than nothing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  20. That’s my assumption too. Personally the Lexus iPod adapter is fine for me at the moment. I think the only thing I’d replace it with would be a VLine but had the car not come with anything a basic Grom would more than do the job. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  21. I’m fairly sure you can. Your phone should be able to connect to multiple Bluetooth things at the same time and can handle knowing which device does what. I’m speaking as an iPhone user but I’d be surprised if it wasn’t the same for other phones. On my iPhone it tells you what device it’s using for voice calls once the call initiates, so even then you can change it if you wanted to. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  22. Well ive had a very productive weekend and ive got loads done, more than i expected tbh! I continued sorting out the body wiring harness and the ecu box relocation. I managed to find some old brackets at work to secure the ecu box, all i had to do was shape them to hold the box and drill the holes to bolt them. The black bracket you can see here just needs straightening slightly. This is the top bracket which will secure to the fuse box bolting point. And this is how its sitting. Just need to remove the brackets now and spray them black to hide them. The next bit was mind numbing...... but strangely i had fun 😂 it was time to extend the harness. Here some stats as i like stats... 67 wires to extend. 134 soldered joints 134 shrink wraps 73 feet of wire (2,077 inches) 1 can of butane gas for my pencil torch No idea how much solder As you can see its not quite finished, i have 15 more wires todo but ran out of heat shrink and my pencil torch packed up! Once done it will be taped up and will cover it with some hard plastic split coating to protect it. The wiring has not cost me a penny, i got a complete vehicle body harness from work off a BMW F30 and just picked out the correct gauge wires (wasnt interested in wire colours) to match that of the wires on the lexus. This is the loom during the hacking. I also acquired loads of loom clips that pin the loom to the body as these will always come in handy. As this came to a halt because of the shrink wraps and pencil torch issue i moved on to the engine. Managed to get the head off pretty quick as alot of the engine was already stripped down. The engine was in fantastic condition inside which you would expect on a 12 year old engine with full service history and just 28k on the clock No signs of any sludge or staining Once the head was off i had a quick look at the pistons and bores and these too are in good condition. Not had the sumps off yet. And thats it for the weekend, looking to finish the loom some time in the week and hit it again next weekend.

  23. The Century sounds like a great car, so it is a shame it is JDM only. Smooth, unstressed V12 would be so nice to drive around. I also love the idea of a wool interior. I wonder why wool isn't available on any other car? It sounds very comfy to me. I agree a flat cap and pipe would be required though

  24. The exhaust note should match the car. A luxury LS should be very muted, a Ford Mustang should not be muted at all; more coarse if you like. The burble of an AMG Mercedes takes some beating. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  25. ICE forming.....the mids were going to sit behind the ML grills but they were recessed too far back so I'm now in the process of trimming the door panel to accept them. Getting them in at the right angle, tilted slightly in and slightly up in equal measure, left and right

  26. What I like about the LS is it does waft along in near silence. But when you floor it the cabin fills with a lovely v8 thrum. Now what people outside hear, I am not bothered about. And compared to my MDs Aston Martin, which sounds like a angry wasp when pottering, and Kim Jong Un versus Trump going head to head when floored, I suspect the LS engine could never be that uncouth.

  27. My near side rear suspension strut was replaced last month under extended warranty but the bill was £1000 !! Although I didn't have a squeek I did have a thumping sound every time I went over the smallest bump. These air ride struts are very expensive when they go wrong. I was told there is no repair kit or schedule for the top mounting.

  30. Before my IS250 I had an IS300, before that I had an IS200... which was my first car. I also drive a MK4 Supra. I poured my heart and soul into the first IS200, and I will regret breaking it for parts forever. I travelled from Northamptonshire to Cornwall to get it and the memories from that trip will be with me forever. That was also the first time I got a lesson in how bad the fuel economy is in the IS200 haha. I've never managed to get a car to handle as well as I got that to handle, it was basically on rails. Meister R coilovers, TRD roll bars, lightweight wheels and LS400 brakes. In the end I took all the bits off, sold them and had the shell crushed. Sad day. I might have to buy another one sooner or later, I still have some mods I'd like to do to an IS200, supercharging it, swapping the gear set out of an S15 6 speed into the box, 3.7 IS300 diff with a 1.5 way in it. Having something handle the way I had mine before but with 230ish hp would be bang on.

  31. To add to the versatility of the the above aux input I have now made up a small bluetooth adapter to add to it. It is based on a circuit board from a cheap bluetooth headphones set from Aldi. The sound quality is excellent with deep rich base that rumbles through your body at even medium volumes. Although not difficult it does require good soldering skills on a printed circuit board about the size of a five pence piece. A larger unit could be made from again an Aldi bluetooth speak making the circuit board easier to handle being somewhat larger. If there is interest I will put up instructions. John
