  1. Would you like some counselling? £120+VAT per hour. Cash for a fellow tradesman could bring the price down! I'll be in Somerset in September, we could have our first session then, my wife and dog can wait in the car.

  2. Personally - and especially on a black car - I like a (small) amount of chrome.

  3. A couple of weeks ago, I was having issues connecting the navigation on my new NX to my "MyLexus" account. I got a prompt reply to an e-mail from the multimedia team, and everything was resolved very quickly. As part of that discussion, I had noted I hadn't got a detailed owners manual and didn't much like having to use the online version. Today I got a parcel - at no cost - with the full owners manual. I doubt many other manufacturers would have done that. Great stuff, and worthy of public praise.

  5. I finally got around to replacing my spark plugs on Saturday. Mileage 67000 - I said I wouldn't do it until 100K but now that the Denso recommended plugs are Iridium Denso IKBH20TT rather than the original Platinum plugs and are available for £42 something a set I decided to plunge in. I also replaced the surge tank to manifold gaskets (3 off) - I bought them from RockAuto for about £19 including postage. I've watched the video on YouTube but haven't been able to find a workshop manual type guide for this job, so I've put one together so you can print it off and keep it handy whilst doing the job.. It uses the Lexus instructions for removal of the coils (which then gives you access to the plugs), an exploded diagram of the relevant part of the intake system and some notes which might help. You have to remove the air surge tank (incidentally this is not the inlet manifold, as frequently mis-stated, here and elsewhere). Most of the excess time for the job goes on a few frustrating things - the stupid inaccessible bolt on the back of the surge tank, the clip for the main power feed from the battery and a couple of other things. I'm sure that if it weren't for them the job could take an hour, but as it is, allow an afternoon! At least I have the satisfaction of having saved a wedge of money compared with dealer charges and I know the job has been dome properly. Incidentally I wondered whilst doing the job if the surge tank had really been removed only a couple of years ago when the fuel pressure sensor seal was replaced - or was it? I began to wonder if the dealer had just used some sort of sniffer, decided the seal was OK and done nothing. They had the car for a suspiciously short time and did a video of various safety checks too. It just felt as if no-one had been in there for 12 years, not just two years ago. Might be my imagination! 7. With this kind of rims and if you like dark batmobile apperance - IMHO dechrome her now. And tint rear lamps a bit. BTW if you want real information and feedback from two-option pool, always put third option "I don't care / I have no idea / It does not matter", not only "yay" and "nay".

  9. It’s a secret...! (mostly not interested in debating the merits of what I’m planning to do in an open forum...happy to talk about it over a beer but web forums and opinions I find are unhappy bedfellows!)

  10. Because SUVs sell more than Estates. In a limited market like the UK theyd sell a handful at most. Additionally wagons aren't massive in the US which is the primary market

  13. Take a look at the exhaust hangers and get some longer/stiffer units to give you more clearance and less movement. I recently used EX01/4's on my GS from here; https://www.workshopping.co.uk/category/exhaust-mountings/2431/

  14. The back up camera is the Garmin BC 30, which is really easy to insert. The sat nav is harder you need to remove the screen elementand then mount the Garmin in the space I used a couple of metal brackets and silicone. You aslo need to make a whole in the rear for the power cable which must be used as extensions would not work. It is easier than it sounds but certainly not quick. Let me know if I can help further

  17. Pretty fed up at present. My car was due back with me at around 3pm so I arranged to work at home today. At 2.30 i had a call from the Sales manager at the garage to say that he wasn't happy with the quality of work done on my car and that he wanted it to go into their Lexus approved bodyshop rather than on site bodyshop to ensure the job wasn't going to be rejected. I then learn that they probably want it for another full week. He said that they had tried to buff out some of the scratches in the paintwork but they were still visible. I explained to him that My local 'smart repair' guy had told me that it needed a proper bodyshop repair and that I had explained that before the car went back to them. The Garage guy told me that one area of concern was the patch of corrosion on the tailgate and I again explained that I had been told it would need a bodyshop to blend it in properly. I am supposed to be getting a call tomorrow to give me a timeline for the work. Ah well -Back to the CT200h then 🙂
