  2. Exactly this ^^^^ What is "unnecessary wear"? I my opinion it is "necessary" to operate the a/c all the time to keep the cabin dehumidified, the windows mist free and most importantly, me comfortable!

  3. Tyres pressures all OK ! As low pressures can give you a 'Spongy' or 'Wooly' feel on the road? Are you 'Feeling' something mechanically loose? With like a delay in road wheel action after you make an input on steering wheel ? more precise symptoms required I feel. paul m.

  4. I have Khumo's fitted on all 4 feet of mine on 18's. I bought 4 alloy wheels from Lexus with the Khumo's on and was told that's the tyre they were using at the time. As for experience with them - have used them from new for over a year now and have had no issues with them. I don't do a lot of miles so I cant help with any indication of wear but over 7k miles, the wear is not noticeable

  5. well I've fixed mine and returning here to post how! I've tested the resistance on the fuel pressure sensor ( on the fuel rail ) and it was fine and within spec, the problem I had was the pressure discharge valve/ suction control valve - the thing that lives on the back of high pressure pump attached by allen keys- the values that I had for resistance didn't match what I was told is the correct readings, however, even the replacement valve had the same 'incorrect' readings, so maybe that changes based of the part code and pump used. removing the valve can be done easily with engine in, however, the replacement part that I sourced through a local diesel specialist was actually longer than the original, so re installation required undoing the engine mounts from below the car and jacking the engine up and giving it a wiggle to be able to reinstall the new one- fiddly but much easier than removing the whole engine to replace the pump! the reason it's now longer is that the original lexus part and pumps are actually discontinued from denso and to make things complicated, those valves are paired by part code to the fuelpump part codes, so you can't just take a valve out of a breaker car if the pump part code doesn't match. knowing the part codes (black sticker ontop of pump and an etched code on back of sensor) I was able to get a valve for use on the newer revised high pressure pump- even the specialist who sourced this suggested the pump would be required aswell... after a prime for 2 mins it fired straight up, so despite what lexus and specialists will tell you, you do not need to replace the pump at a cost of £1200. you need a £120 part. if you happen to have this problem remember that the pumps and valves must match, so people breaking them sell the whole pump assembly, which given this is a common problem I wouldn't suggest saving money there, especially when you think that it will require the engine to be removed to even get the damn pump off!

  6. Hi Paul, I had KU39 on my BMW e60 525d and they were fantastic especially after runflats! I agree with Lee above KU39 probably a bit on a softer side but still a good tyre. Kumho is highly rated on BMW forum.

  7. Not had them on my Lexus I'm afraid but ran them on my old Civic Type r ep3 and thought they were a very good tyre and much quieter than the Bridgestones that were on it before. Couldn't see why they wouldn't work on the Lexus. Thought the sidewalls were a little soft so if you want comfort then they would be ok. Or go for xl if they did them to firm them up a bit. Got Goodyear asametric 3 on my is250 now and they are perfectly fine. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

  8. I know, I really like my GS as it is but I know this I would like even more. Problem is I hardly ever drive the GS, I have a battered old RAV4 I go everywhere in over the winter months. Hmmm, autotrader, too much time on me hands...

  9. I would say worth a drive, certainly going to be a different drive to GS250, and though 6 years old, will not feel 6 years older. Price seems fair, but a bit of a long way from Argyll, but if I was in market for a bit more luxury I would be off to Bedford ASAP

  18. Sorry, only just found this thread. My previous three cars were Hondas, Two Accords and a Civic Hybrid. All very good and reliable cars. I would have liked to have bought another Honda, but they no longer sell 4 door saloons with a boot, in the UK. Whereas in the US you can get the Accord and Civic hybrids. They never sold the Accord hybrid here.

After much too-ing and fro-ing about fuel consumption, fan speeds, wear on components blah blah it was generally agreed that the correct operation for climate control is...   23. As NemesisUK has said, the compressor doesn't run when it's unnecessary - only when it's necessary, to keep the cabin comfortable and the windows clear. Having said that my experience of fridge compressors is that they run forever. One fridge I know has been running without problem for 34 years. However, the air conditioning in cars has extra problems compared with a static fridge. In particular the seals drying out and loss of gas. Running the air conditioning at least once a week helps to prevent that. I had a car once whose air conditioning needed no gas topup for 11 years and that was with the air conditioning always on. Its compressor never had any problems. On conventional cars the clutch on the belt-driven compressor can seize. I imagine not using the air conditioning could cause this to happen prematurely. But the IS300h compressor has a 230v electric motor instead of being belt driven and electric motors tend to go on forever. So I keep my air conditioning on all the time.

  26. Have you tried the app? I've got everything going back to 2002 for the IS and 2006 for the RX. I think all you need is the VIN.
