  1. After owning two LS400s and very briefly a 430, I just had to buy another one. Every time I saw a LS400 on the road no matter the condition I was suffering car envy. So went out today and bought a 85,000 mile 99 plate mark4 . Can't wait to pick it up 😀😀😀😀

  2. Just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone that has supported me in the run up to the potential purchase of the car. I’ve never been part of a forum so welcoming and helpful. Thanks for the call Pete, and thanks for the test run Jon. Sadly I was waiting on the Dad’s best friend (mechanic) to become available to thoroughly check the car out with the advice given above. The day he became available to view it with me, it had sold on that very same day! Still on the hunt for a nice example of an 04/05/06 LS430, and will keep my eyes peeled on here! If you know of anyone that has theirs up for sale, please let me know, I’d really appreciate it :) Hope you are all well, and look forward to being able to contribute something to the forum soon, and hopefully share my new car with you all Many thanks

  3. Ah yes i forgot to mention the problem stays on the left when I switch the bulbs around. It could be the holder. I have to check. Thanks.

  4. Phone them at profess autogas as that is all they install. They should be able to throw some light on it. Excuse the pun Lol

  5. If you’re not a page by page manual reader..... Button in the glove box could be a head scratcher 🧐

  6. Just to follow up this thread, I had great success with my exhaust and eventually and have just enjoyed a lovely journey down to Dorset with my exhaust just a distant whisper even during sport button blasts. ARO exhausts in Buckingham is actually one very good egg working out in the middle of nowhere and who’s got a lot of experience with our cars and really impressed me. He gave me a ballpark quote and I said if it goes over, just do it and we’ll discuss later.. he said, if it goes over then he’d have messed up and he wouldn’t charge! In the event, it sounds like there was a bit of welding and a fair bit of realigning the aftermarket exhaust that had been fitted a couple of years ago. All in it was £120 and I was very happy indeed, I’d thoroughly recommend and am booking in my wife’s Golf soon. Just got the wheels, service, cam belt, battery, power steering leak, central locking to go...

  7. I’d stay with standard and put the money into keeping the car right up to top condition with OE parts.

  8. Did you put the horn (or horns? is there two?) back exactly where it was before you took everything apart? It's just that I had a similar issue on my IS200 years ago when I wanted to relocate the horns so they wouldn't be visible behind the grille. After doing it, the horns didn't make any sound because they were no longer earthed properly.

  9. This was far more interesting than the Track Edition, forget LS swap... how about LX swap, sounded nuts!!!

  10. I’m sure one will come along very soon - just remember cars registered in 2006 attract higher car tax rate : upto 2005 is approx £310 - same car registered in 2006 is over £500 - note these are not exact figures

  11. GS430 five spokes won't clear the big brakes. I've got them on my Soarer and checked against my UCF21. Best bet is the 18s from the 430. Look very smart on the 400. Don't move too far beyond stock offset. Handling and ride quality will be affected.

  12. To me, the items requiring attention at MOT time as per the DVLA site are not consistent with the advertisement which stated that it had spent much of its time in a London underground car park.

  14. LS500? I look forward to owning one in 15 years when it has depreciated to around £6000,... if it proves as reliable as the LS400/430. Not even sure I would buy one if I won the Lottery. Lots of competition for rich peoples money out there in the car world.

  15. Yes, thanks for that. I had found their dodgy past, but they do seem able to source good cars that main dealers would not sell on age grounds. I have registered a query with the servicing main agent to make sure the history is kosher. But it would seem very hard to fake a one owner / one dealer history? Appreciate the concern. Jon

  17. Hi new screen fitted Sunday afternoon , I was pleased as when the fitter arrived he brought a Lexus genuine screen and all the fittings as Autoglass had been unable to source a screen from anyone except a dealer .He was very meticulous and removed and replaced all plastic pop fittings without breaking any .New screen surrounds and clips were neatly fitted and the wiper sweep correctly adjusted. All in all I am very pleased and the finish is like new again Result ! 18. If you are not bothered about the rear seat entertainment screens, but want all the other gadgets, you may want to consider the Executive Limited Edition, which I believe was the last edition before the car was replaced. You will then get ALL the extras, including adaptive headlights, Mark Levinson audio system, and even illuminated sill plates with the Lexus logo that glows blue when you open the doors... ain't that cool!?
