  1. Hi, I can confirm that the message should automatically disappear after about one week. I’ve found the section in the manual… (I do like a hard copy manual; strangely easier to navigate than the online version). My week expires tonight so I’m hopeful it will be gone soon.

  2. Neil in 2007 i had a quadruple bypass. It has its risks as any op does the success rate is very good nowadays. Stephen at Boomer posts well. Its seems a slow recovery but you will get stronger and stronger. I grabbed my new given life with both hands looked after myself and hopefully will get a few more years. i hope you get the op quickly. You'll be alright good luck my friend onwards.

  3. I had a triple CABG (Conorary Artery By-pass Graft!) 8 years ago. my blockages were 95%, 85% and 70% if I remember correctly. You will not be allowed to drive for 6 weeks after the operation. The post op exercise classes are essential to get back your fitness - you may even begin to enjoy them! They will probably take a vein from your leg and use that as the "tube" for the by-pass. It is considered a routine operation, but not to the person who is having it! As Stephen said above, the main pain you get is from coughing - that is why they give you a rolled towel to hold against your chest. You will feel quite weak for at least 2 weeks. Please DO NOT attempt any form of exercise until you are told to. I got bored and decided to polish the car roof after 3 weeks - oh did I suffer! Be a patient patient and your recovery will be quicker! Try not to worry unduly and if they offer you an earlier appointment take it! Keep us informed how it goes please - all the best!

  5. I had 3 stents fitted 12 years ago following a heart attack. I've been having pains for the last couple of years and getting progressively worse. I had an angiogram/camera job done in July last year, they thought maybe one of the stents had collapsed and that was causing the pain, as it turned out the stents were fine but the camera video shows that one artery is 50% blocked and another 30% blocked. The main blockage is too near to the heart wall to be stented so needs to be bypassed, so doing both. The medication they give me six months ago is superb but the surgeon says it wont last long before the pains will be back. The surgeon is a bit of a joker, he says the main reason for doing the bypass is because he still has a large mortgage to pay off. The car is in for the Ghost at 11.30 this morning.

  7. The latter comes with a very high success rate. Indeed, you are in more danger crossing the road these days. I won't lie it is going to hurt like hell afterwards when they reflate your lungs and your sternum is mending, but if you are having this OP because you have symptoms of Angina brought about by hardening of the arteries then be aware you are about to be given a second bite at life IF you want to make the most of it post OP. I was in for a Quintuple bypass (the lot). Had the Op all day Tuesday and I went home Saturday morning clutching my rolled up towel to my chest ( LOL you'll find out what thats for). Initially pretty wiped, but just over a week later I started step ups on the bottom step of the stairs. 3 weeks later I attended Heart whatever they call it for some sessions each week to rebuild my stamina. 6 months later I was doing step ups for 2 hr sessions outside any weather. Actually rains great for cooling you down. That was 13 years ago and literally 3 laps of the world ago. I did see quite a few people who went through the same OP who really just took it all for granted and could not be bothered to take the gift they had been given. Guess they have been back in and out for stents. In summary, whilst any operation comes with risk it is in my view a risk to reward well worth taking just get your head in the game and don't flunk the opportunity. I should say feel free to pm me if there is anything you would like to know about what is coming your way with this. I know it's a bit of a worry. because it is no small thing to undergo.

  8. The problem for Labour is that despite their promises at the core it is always about wealth distribution regardless. The problem with that is real wealth has no borders so the axe will always fall on the next strata down because it is the only target that has the money and is still a fixed target that can be hit. Many businesses of course fall into that category as well as individuals. High asset value people and multi nationals can hardly ever be really caught. Hence, any promises to get behind business is just 'please elect us' then we can stab you in the back.

  13. Removing and replacing a screen is really for a professional, thats IF you can get a new one. Failing that you could try Paul at lexus spares direct to see if he has one and can remove it and ask a screen fitter if they could do the job for you. I doubt there would be any guarantee given on a used screen though. Paul - 07590072646

  16. Neil, 3 months should be enough to get stamina back. Probably not quite enough in some other respects. Namely, they break your sternum for access purposes. Post OP bone calcifies over break and can start in just a few weeks. That might be enough to roll through coughs and small contacts, but not enough for more serious stuff. You lose muscle post OP and lifting etc will be that bit more tough. In my case I couldn't really get on a weight bench for nearly 18 mths. I did try before that ,but the resultant pressure on my sternum was always there. The rolled up towel I mentioned earlier is to hold against your chest when you cough, because coughing etc stills hurts when the sternum is still freshly broken and has not yet knitted together. Yoo will also needs to do some stretching as your chest will feel 'tight', but you cannot get into that until the sternum is really knitting together. If your boating holiday is actually sailing I think some of the physical stuff will be still be quite a struggle at 3 mths. Of course different people different strokes there is always the chance you might get there quicker than I did. In summary, your stamina and legs get back there a lot quicker than your upper body. Good luck.

  17. It isn't - it's a rushed compliance car that is woefully uncompetitive. Even The Car Care Nut on YouTube, who couldn't be anymore pro Toyota/Lexus, said it wasn't a good car.

  18. Unfortunately i don't have the space to DIY it so i took it to my trusted mechanic. Apparently the entire system was gunked up, it's likely the previous owner put either low quality fluid or just straight up water. Was about a €50 job to clean everything but at least now it works.

  19. That’s the problem - £70k. For a car that barely goes 200 miles on electric. it’s an awful purchase compared to pretty much any other option. They also don’t have real leather on any trim. The new similar size Porsche Macan EV starts at £70k and will go another 100 miles or so on its battery.

The sensor is located on a bracket to the right and slightly up from the crank pulley ( 1 o’clock position) it is secured with a single bolt. 2nd picture shows position albeit on a dismantled engine. The 3 codes you have include a possible defective CPS if you look at the service and diagnostic sheets in the video.

I have been missing for sometime because I have been through the mill with personal and health problems but fortunately I am now out the other side! Does anyone know if there are plans afoot for an annual SC430 meet this year? It is usually June and we need to be booking hotel rooms if its happening. Anthony 🙂

If you can get your insurance company to agree to you importing one and having it fitted this may be your only option and bear in mind there is 20% VAT to add to the total price from Amayama. 32. All the very best wishes with that, Neil. Many years ago I was assured by the Head of Heart Surgery at the John Radcliffe, Oxford that a heart bypass was as near to routine as modern surgery gets. I take it that stents were not an option in your case, but as Stephen has eloquently described, this bypass is literally the gift of a new lease of Life. Apart from that, how are you getting on with the Ghost? It’s something I considered but in the end didn’t think my eight year old Lexus was a prime target for the local thievery. But I thought it an impressive piece of kit.

  33. I booked and paid for a boating holiday in Ireland before the option of an operation was decided. I'm 72 and my son who lives in Australia is coming over to join us on the holiday. I've not seen him for years and it's doubtful that I'll see him again. We go to Ireland mid June and it looks like the operation will be early March. The surgeon told me six weeks for a decent recovery, the timing gives me around 12 weeks to get fit enough to go. I had a knee replacement a few years ago and that took me 9 months to get over after that surgeon told me 3 months. So l'm hoping that 12 weeks for this one will be ok if l take it easy. It's a double bypass.

  34. Yeah, nowadays they have "high-end" and then "true" high-end. As always we can thank apple for this mess - I think they started it with iphone x, or maybe 11. Basically before you get either Iphone or galaxy S and that was the high-end phone of the year to get, then apple introduced "pro" for like £1500. At first it looked like either you get normal phone or overpay for some gimmick, but now the normal iphone or Galaxy S are actually mid-range, for example I have S22 and it just feels cheap even compared to my previous S10, because the one to get suppose to be £1500 S22 Ultra (or it was 2 years ago at least, S24 just launched now). Well and obvious they have these foldable phone now which used to cost a lot, but again rumours are Samsung is going to get competitive on pricing again. As for foldable phones - they are still fragile. When they were not water-proof I didn't even consider them, but I bought Z4 Flip as present and it was quite good, the special screen protector failed after 15 months, but it was replaced by warranty for free. Screen seems to hold just fine for now and Samsung does £150 subsidised replacements. But foldable phones are still fragile in comparison to normal ones, you definitely need to take extra care with them. I honestly can't care about latest and greatest now, somehow few years back each phone release used to excite me and there was some significant upgrade, but in recent years I really struggle to see what am I getting for extra money. Same applies to both Samsung and Apple - I can't even tell the difference between iphones after 12, Galaxy S likewise... last 3 or 4 are pretty much identical... S21, 22, 23 and now 24 really offers more or less the same package. If anything I probably prefer my old S10 (generally would like to have more compact phone, but there are no more compact high-end ones). As such I just keep the phones until they fail now... had S6 edge, to be fair it had not failed, but got quite slow after 4 years, S10 - I cracked the screen after 3 years (still works fine, just glass has chip) and S22 still going strong after 2 years, so if rumours are true then maybe in 2 years time I will pick-up discounted Fold 6. As for all other brands I personally find them irrelevant, so if android then it is Samsung, if not android then it is iphone... Never found Google Pixel to be any good, Sony, LG, HTC etc. are all pretty much irrelevant now. Motorola is basically chinese company as well and they kind of hang around in mid-range and then there is probably 100 different chinese companies. Generally they have impressive spec sheets, but features are just not polished and do not work half of the time and that is even considering Samsung features are often not fully polished. Also again in my experience they simply fail in less than a year, it starts little by little, but in 12 month it usually turns into brick... sort of maybe camera starts turning off at first, then it doesn't turn on at all, then microphone starts glitching, then people can't hear you anymore and by years' end they stop charging, or holds 4h of charge... or some combination of similar issues. As for malware - 1 it is real thing, but 2 - I kind of agree, there is nothing useful they can find out about me and I am not planning to go to china at any time soon. So it isn't real concern, but it is there. Also perhaps I would be little bit worried logging in into my banking account, they probably wouldn't bother stealing my 2p worth of savings, but I in theory they could if they wanted to. Also also - that is not to say google or apple does not spy on us, the difference perhaps is targeted advertising vs. "re-education camp" in Xinjiang. That said I think my key issue is their quality and "longevity" and their price isn't even that good in UK. For example I bought Oppo Find X in 2018 when I was in China and my girlfriend bought Vivo something... whatever. Point is in China Oppo Find X costed something like £290, whereas here it only launched year later for £899. And similar story for Vivo, it was even cheaper, if memory serves - like £155. So yes - at those prices they are amazing devices and I don't even care if they last 6 months, but at UK price I just never going to pay £1000+ for chinese phone, for one I kind of know they are not worth it, because they actually sell for maybe £250 in china and secondly, they are made to that level of quality. So yeah - if ever needed "burner" phone for some reason, then I may just get one of the cheaper ones for under £200, but I will never regard them as premium devices in the same league as Samsung or Apple.

  35. I saw a review of this on Tech radar. I will be looking to change this year. I have been pondering Samsung or Apple, I've been on Android for few years now on my one plus. Tech radar mentioned this was a game changer in its thickness. To be honest id never considered a fold phone now i might this does look a nice piece of tech though.

  36. There never was a Golden Goose ……. Taxation pays for everything covered by the State whatever it is apart from the increasing State Debt raised in the Markets to help out …… Politics and Partying, Labour or Tory is just the way they might individually mix up how it’s raised and spent ……. and how much is raised separately from the Markets and increasing State Debt ……. I'm not at all sure what differentiates the Parties The finer detail of spending and raising to cover that spend seems to be the thought processes that get voters spellbound and wound up …… that’s politics I guess UK Golden Goose never did exist Norway is possibly the only country with that Golden Goose …… saved up all the past oil revenue surpluses to cover all their State Pensions and Govt Spend going forward Reading a while back that their Golden Goose is about £5mn per head of their population Excellent use of Oil Revenues …… good ‘ol oil eh ! 39. Added Bluetooth music to my LS430 for $60! I know this is an old thread, but maybe this will help someone. I had been doing a ton of research and was tempted to buy the GROM, but then I found this option from a company in Germany, Blue Music. I have the ML package on my stereo and it works great, via the CD player, with amazing audio quality! Also, my phone auto change the stereo to the hands free for calls and then back again, using the car's speaker, so I didn't need to use the mic. While I can't see the track playing on the stereo screen, I can use the Seek and steering wheel buttons to change songs. Great option for less money! Also, I used their recommended Y-adapter and it was all plug and play! https://www.musikimauto.de/BlueMusic-Bluetooth-Audio-Handsfree-KitToyota-66

  41. The Hybrid battery is 15-years / unlimited mileage (subject to the Hybrid Health Check being up to date), below extract from the Lexus website, this should also be stated in your service history booklet. For hybrid vehicles, the service will include a Hybrid Health Check to extend the hybrid component and battery warranty cover. If the vehicle is eligible for the hybrid components and battery cover will be included in the same Lexus Warranty contract until 10 years or 100,000 miles, whichever is soonest. You can then independently extend the hybrid component and battery warranty cover for up to 15 years and unlimited mileage by having a Hybrid Health Check.

  42. Gods NO! I quite simply don't fit in Bloody Minded W**kers cars, except for their big SUVs and I hate SUVs. Whilst looking for my LS 400/430/460 I tried several 7 series, A8s, S-class & E-class, Phaetons, and Jags,.... and the BMWs were the worst of the bunch for driver space. Even with the adjustable steering wheel out of the way and the seat all the way back I struggled to get into a 7 series. Final cost for the work on the LS was £1670 for both rear wheel bearings, change of diff oil, and a full service (oil, oil-filter, air-filter, pollen filter). Parts cost alone for both bearings was £680. 😲 I have advisories on: - Radiator - corrosion on the trans-oil cooler connections. So I need to decide on whether to get the separate cooler fitted, or just get a new radiator fitted. - One rear ball joint is seized. - Rear brake pipe corrosion. - Rear discs and pads need replacing soon. - Both silencers have loose parts inside so are rattling. - Earth strap to engine broken. - One front strut is weeping, so will need new front air-struts soon. So, once I have paid off the credit card I'll get her booked in to sort all that out. It is nice to no longer have that "whuuuuuum-whuuuuuum-whuuuuuum" when driving. Whilst the LS was down I rented an MG HS for a weekend to visit family. Yes, I know it's an SUV but to get a normal car big enough for me to fit in I'd have to rent an E-class at nearly 3 times the cost of the MG. As it was It was only just big enough for me. It had **SECONDS** of turbo-lag when you put your foot down hard. Do people really think that is acceptable in a car? It had that horrendous "lane assist" crap where it steers you where it thinks you should be going. Disabled that 💩 immediately. Also had constant flashing warnings on the dash, (You're near the speed limit, you're going too fast, you're too close, you're doing it all wrong!). Nag, nag NAG! I hated it all. I am the driver and I make the decisions, not the ****ing car. I am told that you can switch most of it off, but why is it even needed? If someone is that bad a driver, take away their driving licence. If that is an example of modern car "tech" then they can shove it all where the sun don't shine.

Pan off, A960E service kit, filter, proper job, the lot. £360 for 70% fluid change with a 12-month warranty; I must say that the gears are now changing quicker, smoother and, overall she feels lovely. I believe you need to remove the wheel and then the inner arch and you can then get at it if yer bendy enough. Personally, I paid someone else to fit mine (Bank 2 Sensor 1) and it cost me £60 for the sensor (Denso) and £90 for them to fit it.

  50. Well a week or so later and I have made up my mind...... It is going to be the NX Premier. I found the RX a bit daunting in size and felt it would be an absolute devil to park in tight multi storey car parks. It is gorgeous though and so wide inside, or so it felt. So after a few days humming and haa-ing and after test drives, I plumped for the NX. My son in law has the F Sport version, so I knew the interior was going to be good. It was nice to see one with a few more bells and whistles on it though 😂 Getting in and out of the NX was easy too, which was my main self-afflicted gripe over the IS we currently have. It will be a shame to say goodbye to the IS because it is a lovely car to drive, just a bummer getting out of it at my age, old fart that I am 😜 We collect the NX on Friday. It is a 66 plate in Mercury Grey, with about 38k miles on it. The interior looks great, no sagging seats or marked interior despite the higher than normal mileage. Looks like I will have to change my nom de plume on here now 😊 Thanks for all the comments and suggestions too, they did help.
