  1. Only late 2009 onwards got the indicators on the wing mirrors and only F-sport models come with 18inch wheels as standard on the gen 2 IS250.
  2. Very unlikely to be the snow. These cars are rife with problems as you probably know. My guess is your EGR valve is clogged up or if your lucky the MAF sensor is dirty and needs a clean .
  3. The Lexus IS250 takes an age to warm up. Longer than any other car I've ever owned. During my 6 mile commute to work in this current climate the car has just about reached temperature when I arrive. (needle just left of centre) even during the summer it can take 3 miles to reach temperature.
  4. I don't rate the hankook Ventus prime at all. Had a pair fitted on the rear several years ago and they are poor in the wet. Uniroyal rainsport are absolutely superb in the wet. I can't rate them highly enough. It's the only tyre I ever have fitted these days.
  5. If your set on a Lexus IS I would definitely go for the 6 cylinder V6 over the diesel for lots of reasons. The 250 is equally as good on fuel as the diesel and far far more reliable, and heaps more fun to drive. Trust me you will run into problems sooner rather than later if you purchase the 220d. You would not believe the issues I had in my short ownership along with many other members here on the forum. Just take a read through the posts here. It's full of threads with a variety of issues. If your lucky you may just have EGR issues. Do you fancy having to strip it out and clean it every 5000 miles? Nope thought not. I needed a new head gasket, new EGR valve, a dpf regen and work to correct the 5th injector in the space of 6 months and it still smoked like a chimney afterwards.
  6. The generation 3 IS has redesigned calipers fitted and do not suffer the same seizing issues assosiated with the generation 2. Personally I would still pay the £30 or so extra at service time to have the pins greased up just for piece of mind, but generally you won't have an issue.
  7. 22.6 mpg sounds about right at this time of year around town. It is a 3.5 litre petrol V6 after all. You will get better mpg once the weather warms up and a lot better on a good motorway run with cruise.
  8. I find the Lexus IS in general to be a harsh ride. Even my previous SE-L on 17's wasn't exactly comfy. My 250 F-sport on 18's was extremely harsh to the point of being uncomfortable.
  9. Hello and a warm welcome to the forum. Congratulations on purchasing probably the best all round and most reliable car Lexus ever made. You won't be disappointed with the IS250 SE-L. It has everything you need and more. You can easily achieve 40mpg + on a motorway run on cruise but expect around 25mpg around town and probably less during winter. As mentioned the calipers are prone to seizing (rears especially) and need a good greasing every 6-12 months. My local Toyota dealership does this for me at every service for me at no extra cost. The IS250 also likes regular oil changes and mine gets changed every 5k but some might say that's overkill. I really can't praise this car enough and it's just so nice to be driving something different and rare to everybody else who are driving about in their bmw, Audi and Mercedes. Oh and the V6 sound is to die for 😉
  10. Hello and a warm welcome to the forum. 😀 Congratulations on purchasing probably the best all round and most reliable car Lexus ever made.
  11. I have always been a big fan of uniroyal rainsports. They really are superb in the wet (which lets face it is 90% of the time in the uk) and long lasting. They really are an excellent all round tyre.
  12. Depends on what car you drive I guess. Something like an IS250 that has direct injection and known carbon issues will probably benefit from a terraclean treatment.
  13. 18s will definitely give a harsher ride than 17s. The IS definitely looks better with 18s. 17s just look too small for the car.
  14. Sounds perfectly normal for a vvti to me. My previous IS250 sounded exactly the same. I found using shell V power did quiet things down a little but it does take a couple of fill ups to do the trick.
  15. You get 2 little F badges on the wings as well. Much harsher ride than the SE-L and a lot less spec. The sound generator on the F-sport is rather good though. sounds a lot more sportier than a regular 250 and really enhances that V6 growl.
  16. My grandad also owns the GS450h and he absolutely loves it. Like me he's a Lexus enthusiast and has owned several over the years. This is by far his favourite. As @lockeyboy says, it's fast. Infact it feels very fast. My IS-F only feels slightly quicker from a standing start.
  17. I don't miss the cooled seats at all. I had it on the SE-L and it barely cooled my butt 😔
  18. No low quotes I'm my case. They quoted me £1270 for my IS-F. I used a car insurance comparison site and managed to get fully comprehensive for £640.
  19. Not surprised to be honest. EBay is full of fake goods. If I wanted spark plugs or any other spares I would order from Lexus Birmingham. At least you know your getting the real deal.
  20. Ive always used this and been delighted with the results. Smells lovely too 😀
  21. Hello and a warm welcome to the forum. The Lexus SC 430 is a lovely little car. Infact the guy I bought my IS-F from is a Lexus enthusiast and also owns one of these. He took me for a spin in it around Hereford and it was an absolute delight. Looking forward to seeing the pics 😀
  22. My sincere apologies @WetMyBeak I genuinely thought the exhaust system was unchanged on the gen 2 IS250. I would be interested to find out what changed exactly and why.
  23. Yes it will fit. The only ever changes made to the generation 2 IS250 exhaust system was the tailpipe shape.
  24. And it didn't sell because it's too slow for it's class. @peachy is quite right. People looking to purchase a 2 litre turbocharged petrol vehicle almost certainly have performance in mind. People do their homework before buying and a 0-60 time of just under 7 seconds puts them off. I know its a heavy car but Lexus could have easily improved the performance without sacrificing reliability. If this car had a 0-60 time of say 5.7 - 6 seconds I'm sure a lot more would have been sold and still available for sale today.
