  1. In today's sunshine I popped off both NS headlamp covers and the internal moisture has cleared. Will pop the covers back on in a tick. Fingers crossed that's all they needed to stay clear. Oh and the dealer who sold me the car has stumped up for a good portion of the new exhaust, happy days
  2. Don't rely on Lexus to clean/lube your brakes, looking at folks experiences the dealers seem happy enough to let them fail and replace the calipers. As mentioned, Hybrid rear brakes don't get much use so regular maintenance is even more important to prevent them seizing.
  3. For cleaning info have a look at the guides here; http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/index.php?_a=viewDoc&docId=5 and here; http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=17
  4. Good, so what's the code/colour? What touch up paint are you considering? - I could do with getting some myself...
  5. Check the pads are moving freely in their guides and that the slider pins are nicely lubed. Then you shouldn't have any rubbing noises from the pads.
  6. Punch the VIN number into an online decoder. Also check the VIN# on the passenger door/etc is the same as your V5 ;)
  7. Welcome to the forum Eriks. That's a great looking CT there, I love the colour and the alloys look spot on. Enjoy.
  8. Nice one, glad you're sorted now. Car looks great too #bonus
  9. I've been trying to adjust my driving style a little and try less coasting to a stop. Instead when stopping/slowing down i have been gently pressing the brakes to get more regen into the battery. It seem to be working too, as i now frequently see 9 bars recovered
  10. Well deduced and well found Richard 👍 I bet the chappy was happy that he didn't need to shell out for a gearbox.
  11. Welcome to the forum. I recently purchased a GS 450H and it's a great car. Enjoy. Warnings from the TPMS (tyre pressure monitor system) on older vehicles aren't unusual. I had a couple of leaky valves (spray the valves with bubbly water to check for leaks) that settled after nipping up the valves with a deep 11mm socket.
  12. Now there's an interesting choice. I happen to have such an engine in the garage, a long term project...
  13. Pic's or it didn't happen Well done, did you install them yourself? How do the coil overs feel at different speeds? I fitted MeisterR's to my last car and it felt great when pressing on or going slow but at moderate speeds it felt choppy, I couldn't find a good damping compromise. They've since released a newer version that should address this. Are they 14/10kg rated spring?
  14. How annoying, has the boot been awkward to close for a while? Does the boot have bump stops like the bonnet, if so then maybe they need winding in a turn or two?
  15. Morning John, sure...done.
  16. Thanks chaps. Have PM'd you info Shahpor.
  17. Yeah, my wheel nuts were REALLY tight too. Bonkers and no use if you had a roadside repair. So well done easing them off. The car looks great.
  18. Sounds like the small 12v battery needs charging/replacing as that should initially fire up the dash and computers that control the hybrid system. Has the car been stood for a while and not used?
  19. Yesterday I had the...pleasure? exploring Leeds city center whilst my car was left at Tony Banks for a new exhaust. To recap the rear section had the usual split and a gaping hole in the OS muffler, so we definitely needed a new rear section. I knew the middle section had a slight blow and when Tony removed the rear...the middle section decided to snap in two! So he spent around 6 hours (elapsed) crafting both sections from stainless. The cost of a new center section (with cats) was so tempting that I was already half tempted to get the whole lot done and never need consider the exhaust again. I didn't want any fancy or annoying noise so chose a standard set-up and driving around town you'd struggle to tell this system from OEM. Under hard acceleration or at dual carriageway/motorway speeds there is a slight increase in noise, which is no bad thing at OEM is really quiet. The system should quieten down a notch once it's coked up a bit. I didn't get back to the work shop before the car came off the ramps so I haven't had a close look at the system but from what I can see it looks dandy. The chaps were helpful and have plenty of varied work coming through the workshop, including a steady number of Lexus. Overall I'm impressed and wouldn't hesitate to recommend http://www.tonybanks.co.uk
  20. Close call selling the GS but thankfully you came to your senses, so you are forgiven Nice classic btw.
  21. It's good to hear that you appear to have resolved your major issue, was the work costly? Creaks from the trim are pretty common but can usually be resolved with a little TLC, good luck getting them sorted as they can be very annoying.
  22. The Sport button does make a noticeable difference, especially to the throttle. I'd only tried it a few times whilst cruising as I thought it only affected the suspension. Wrong, with Sport set she takes off like a stabbed rat 😎
  23. The emissions test can be tried a number of times (5?) and the reading usually improves/drops each time. Hopefully it's then low enough to pass before the last allowed attempt, to gain a pass.
