  1. The revised filler flap mechanism has been successful thus far (as have the upgraded door handles to address the frozen doors issue).

  4. If you are looking for a family car I would suggest this is not the one for you, My eldest son has three small children and our UX does not have enough room for all three. Mind you modern day child seats are like armchairs, ask any grandparent what is their worst technology nightmare and it won't be multimedia or suchlike it will be child car seats and folding pushchairs, push this, hold that, twist the other. I have a 2022 UX Takumi 250H, it is slightly bigger than my previous car a Kia Niro which had better rear seat and boot room than the UX. However it is more than adequate for my wife and myself and I love the comfort and quiet ride despite my initial fears over the run flat tyres. I had to go to the Takumi to get some of the features I had on my Niro so have to pay the annual road fund hike as it was over £40 list, an onerous and unjustified burden in my mind, it is exactly the same power and emissions as the lower spec ones so don't see the logic of it other than a 'rich mans' tax (i'm not rich, just a little treat buying what is probably my last car after over 60 years of work) Good luck Karen. 5. Good luck with the Volvo, no harm in switching brands as circumstances change. Lexus are not the first manufacturer to trash their hard earned reputation and probably won't be the last. Never had a Volvo personally but certainly the brand stood for quality back in the 80's / 90's, been in a few Volvo taxis that have had 300/400 thousand on the clock.

  7. As Ken says. Open the left compartment in boot. If you put your hand in you will find a trigger to open flap. Its a well known issue on the NX BUT there is a fix. Ask dealer to sort the issue out. They will replace the required parts.

  9. AA came out and discovered the 12 volt battery in the boot which as Andrew said powers up all the electrics/ecu's etc was down to 3 volts- Flat of course. Power pack connected and started up but the dash board was like a Christmas tree. He cleared a stack of faults codes and all went back to normal. Told me to take it out straight away for 40 mins and re charge the battery and said cars these days have to fire up a stack of electrical equipment and modules etc so not surprisingly a battery can give up. Battery six years old and no evidence in the My Lexus Link App that the service history shows a replacement battery has ever been fitted. I'm wondering now if a some of the cells in the battery are failing. I'll get into the dealer and ask for an opinion on the battery. If anyone knows what make Lexus use I can check my own battery to see if it is the original factory battery. Anyway it's running now.

  10. Yes but if you put your hand in you will find a lever which when pushed will open the flap.

  14. I switched to an RX450h from a BMW540i five years back... I was getting sooo fed up with the local traffic conditions that wouldn't allow me to put my foot down in the BMW. My wife kept saying for 'God's sake, you can't drive anywhere fast anymore - just accept it. You're like a bear with a sore head!' (or words to that effect!) Anyway, I (reluctantly) realised she was right - thus the switch to the RX, which is "like driving a comfortable armchair". I still get fed up with other drivers, but I'm not Lewis Hamilton anymore. So I'm definitely a slower driver in the hybrid. 🙂

  15. Hopefully that is an error rather than by design. You need both ends to be locked to stop someone removing it. If the car is on a schedule then it should lock/unlock the charge port with the doors.

  16. Vehicle does look a tidy example, observations ..a closer look at the service book it has 3 stamps missing 2015,2018 and 2023. headlamps and seats a little discoloured with age . Some water staining in the boot area and mould on the roller cover …so possible leaks in boot. The blue one they are also selling although a better colour combination but has more wear on the seats and also discolours headlamps. Has black plastic wheel rim protectors , normally means rims scuffed already . both cars have been for sale for many months so price should be negotiable. Both cars need to be inspected for underbody corrosion, especially around the rear brake hubs, as the ABS reluctors ring wear is becoming common. Like I say just observations not trying to be negative. What do you think of the champagne coloured example on Auto Trader…looks outstanding 👍🏻

  18. I’m beginning to think my strategy is wrong. I’m going to look at lower price ones maybe under £7500. I’ve looked at a few on AT and there doesn’t appear to be much difference between some of the sun £7500 and those I’ve been looking at. I like the thoughts that you folks have had of buying one at a price where I build in some spare money to get it up to a standard I’m happy with. As long as it’s genuine and has had as many of the key repairs done as is realistic at the price, I think that may be a better option for me.

  21. I had the same issue as well, and the AA person did say the battery on the UX was small. He did however recommend to start the car and keep it on for an 1 hour when not being used, as the main battery would charge the 12v battery and also keep an backup battery jump starter just in case.

  22. Can you turn off communication/ota updates with lexus? That seems to be a common problem with other ev marques draining their 12v.

  23. Theirin lies the issue. Starting at a premium price then having possibly a few such expenditures to make to get it where you want it to be. Let's face it that makes a lot more sense at your 8750 than it does at nigh on 12500. Moreover most of this done on the basis of mileage. However, who gives a damn if the V8 has 50 k rather than 70k on it?

  24. I have a theory. Might not make sense to anyone else though! As the wing mirror was pushed back away from its normal mode. I think the plastic housing where the motor sits has been dislodged to a nearer position, meaning when the autimatc fold is selected the mirror only move 2/5 from its original position. May look at pushing back the mirror and pressing the buttons at the same time and see if I can move it back. Not given up yet.

  26. True, but that's why you do it in the warm seasons when it will not be damp. As to rot you mean rust and you remove as much of that as is practical before you seal it to prevent rusting. If you want a car already 17 years plus then personally it is something I would do to try to maintain its longevity especially if you envisage keeping the car medium to long term. Really never interested in letting a car get to the point the welder spends more time with it than you do.

  29. I think the standard fit stereo is Pioneer with 12 speakers. The only two options are the 13 speaker ML and the HUD. ML can be spotted as Colin’s said by the logo on the rear seat centre or the logo under the CD player. HUD can be spotted by a missing section on the dash top where the ‘projector’ is, or by looking at the row of dash buttons to the right of the steering wheel where the fuel flap release is. Wheels are crazy money new and very tricky to refurb, but there are companies that can do it - I know Lexus Stockport know of a company that is capable of refurbing the 21 inch chromes. The biggest driving difference (from what I’ve read/watched) is the sport plus having the rear wheel steer plus variable ratio rack plus LSD. Mines a convertible sport plus without rws as there’s no room for it to be fitted. Brochure download here with specs, options etc : LC500 UK brochure

  30. The tyres were advised at 9k but didn’t fail until the next mot at 13233 miles . These cars are common to wear tyres on the inner edges on the front, I suspect at some point during a service the worn front tyres got swapped to the rear ..then good rears to front . i doubt it’s a London car just being sold by a London dealer …probably bought from auction from another part of the Uk. exhaust tailpipes are not original , so maybe just tailpipe or exhaust change . front bumper colour looks off but needs to be seen in daylight to be sure. Last taxed expired Aug 2023 so they’ve had it a long time for sale ….im sure there is a deal to be had …..and the colour name is KALAHARI SAND 👍🏻

  31. You’re a good lad 😉 only had 3 owners that’s a plus. As to outstanding finance I’m guessing the dealer doesn’t own his stock and is financed until sold. Phone number is there so give them a call to check what’s going on .

  33. I’ve the official Lexus ones which I purchased second hand from a person that sold their UX and so no longer required them. They are, like all Lexus roof bars, rebranded Thule ones and work well without generating excessive wind noise. Sorry, no idea about a roof box as I don’t have one.

  34. The Cat S in and of itself did not put me off although I will say in relative terms I think the price was on the rich side given that status. It was new to market though so may be he starts high goes low if necessary. That is a a logical approach to take. No what put me off was the distance was prohibitive given the collective issues of lack of service history and the impending MOT expiry. With a car that age I personally think a very recent MOT is a must have for anyone who does not the experience to crawl all over that car and know what they are looking at. The MOT and any advisories ,or even lack of them covers for that lack of experience which definitely describes me.

  35. Can't be done. I do think it's a better solution though than in some German cars where you need to turn it off for small movements or parking. Think Mercedes takes it though for the function of theirs which is activated by pressing the brake down harder than normal.

  36. Interesting question, and I wonder if this might help: Models by type and number registered As you'll see, the LC500 sport plus is the most registered version. Having said that, your preference for comfort (same as mine) would be met by any model, given you can dial down the suspension settings for a comfort or sports setting. Frankly I cannot tell the difference in mine whereas those same settings also affect engine performance with a world of difference between the various user selections ranging from ECO, COMFORT, NORMAL, SPORT and SPORT+. As for HUD, it often goes hand in hand with the Mark Levison sound system. A little unusually I have HUD but no ML, and frankly I'm not too sure what I am missing, but others will surely chime in and advise. Personally I would say the differences from base to full fat are not that great but if you are looking for the ultimate the LC can offer, then it's the sport plus you need to consider BUT you will not miss what you never had in any model. Good luck in your search and as the photographs would suggest, the LC in red is simply stunning and for my money I would give that model serious consideration, albeit I would think a price tag nearer £50K would be more appropriate.

  37. It doesn’t have a hud. I guess the price is ok given the mileage but don’t think you need it to be that way. These cars are ultra reliable so a little more mileage won’t hurt. The difference, other than material and adjustable headrest on standard seats, is the sport seats have larger bolsters for better support when cornering. I believe the stiffness of the main seat cushions is the same.

  39. I certainly don't class it as a slow car. I probably drive more sedately these days but when rapid acceleration is called for (overtaking etc) there is more than enough horses under the bonnet to complete the manoeuvre safely.

  41. Hi All, Would like to say hello and share a few observations from my early ownership of our 2022 RX 450H F Sport (4th generation). Following your advice (issue widely discussed on the forum), before I collected the car I had the anti-theft canbus plates fitted by Lexus. I also got a second set of winter wheels, which came with new TPMS sensors that needed to be coded in to get tyre pressure readings on the dash as well as to get rid of the warning light. All local tyre garages were not able to help, as they were not able to handle Lexus TPMS sensors. When I contacted Lexus garage, their lovely call center agent struggled to see the point of my request, and eventually suggested an appointment several weeks later at the hefty cost of £150. As it was way too late for me, I kept looking. As I could not find any relevant info on this issue here, I thought at some point somebody else may find it useful. TPMS sensors have got unique IDs that need to be coded into the car. If you have got multiple sets of wheels, you may wish to have all sensors coded in so that when you swap one set with the other, the car will always be able to detect and "see" them. I found that good tyre garages are able to do it. We then went on our first hols and drove through Europe to Austrian Alps and several other places before we returned. We covered almost 3,000 miles. I found the car indeed very comfortable. Road and wind noise is really well insulated even at high autobahn speeds (one needs to get used to the operation of the lexus gearbox and its specific engine noise during acceleration). Despite the fact RX does not have a conventional 4 wheel drive, I found hybrid system to be very effective and had no issues with the traction (we were driving daily from the hotel to the end of the valley, where main ski lifts were). As I used to drive diesel cars, with RX I had concerns about fuel economy and I need to admit, I found it to be acceptable - RX averaged 29.3 mpg for the whole journey, which was comparable to my friend's BMW X5 (6 cylinder diesel). Needless to say, RX covered whole distance with no issues. Well, there is actually one - I found front central armrest to be quite squeaky - is it typical or shall I get it looked into? On the whole RX has been growing on me and so far I'm very happy with the purchase. Thanks.

  42. No that isn't needed. The vehicle has multiple sensors to locate each wheel. If you change wheels/rotate your tyres then you need to reinitialise the system using the dashboard menu so it learns the new positions (and desired tyre pressures). To register new sensors with the vehicle then you need a tool such as Carista, Techstream etc.

  43. Make sure you are in Auto EV/HV mode and not EV mode and basically put your foot down. You can change drive mode into Sport mode to make partial throttle more responsive but at full throttle all modes are essentially equal. By the way the transmission works, it provides a progressive surge in power rather than a delay and sudden hit that you get with a transmission dropping down gears and people often associate the sound of an engine steadily increasing in rpm with acceleration and therefore a hybrid might 'feel' slower than it actually is.

  44. Welcome, KSD, and I hope you are enjoying your RX - I am on my third RX and absolutely love the car. Sorry, I can't help with the tyre pressure coding, but as you suggest a quality tyre supplier would be able to do it. As for fuel economy, you should be able to achieve mid thirties MPG. I have found that the luxurious nature of the RX encourages a less hurried driving style, which in turn improves fuel economy. You can check your driving style and any recommendations from your Lexus Link + app - I was surprised to receive an observation about my driving style in my other car - UX 250h Takumi AWD - that I tended to accelerate away too quickly! That's me told!

  45. Wow, the software intern is going to be very busy indeed! Now they have Lexus Link+ to fix, CANbus encryption to back port into old models, Radly internet radio to resurrect, wireless android auto to implement on new vehicles, and now some upgrades to the UX software! On a more serious note, I have filed many detailed bug reports for the infotainment systems and not a single one got actioned, so it would be wise to have "realistic" expectations for software improvements.
