  1. This underfunding is the answer to every failing institution in this country! As someone who knows personally about the police service, it started to deteriorate in 1997, when the name change happened. Force, to Service, and the whole political correctness and wokeism began. The officers today are a different breed to years ago, they no longer get support from senior officers and even colleagues they work with, all to eager to stab each other in the back, in pursuit of being cleansed Some even join the job, and then realise they have to work nights, and refuse, hence, no police on the streets at night to see the one eyed RX! We have become a mamby pamby country, with a soft belly that anyone in the world can take advantage of! Rant over, carry on !!!!!

  2. I used to have a RX with the ML system and I wasn’t disappointed at all when I heard that the NX F-Sport didn’t have the option of the ML system. Once set up the I find the standard system sounds just as good as the ML. TBH I never rated the ML system, I think it just a selling point used by Lexus salespeople. To be frank i’d never heard of ML before owning a Lexus

  3. Ok forum, I can report that NFU have just offered me a premium of 524 Pounds for an LBG Premium Design Plus. Not been able to receive anything from anyone else…( except LMI ) .as the underwriter tables are not populated. But this beats the LMI quote of 838 Pounds…..so if I proceed with purchase I will most likely use NFU.

I agree with ya about matching up hence i usually go 4 new tyres every time, on my RCF i needed 2 rears awhile back but falken had changed the tread pattern slightly so went the full hog and got 4 to match…. Its been mentioned that i may have a slight OCD issue 😂

  5. A quick update - it seems to have been the ignition switch that was jammed up, I gave it a couple of flat palmed high-fives and it freed up, releasing the steering lock at the same time. It seems to be connected to inserting the smart key in to the switch - if you stick with twisting the switch without the key inserted, it doesn't jam up. I've sprayed some dry PTFE lube where i can around the switch, with the shrowd removed, and it's moving freely - phew!

  11. My days lying under the car are also now finished, getting under is still OK but getting out and back up on my feet is a major problem. It’s a bugger when the car is in better condition than its owner! I’m doing the same, engine oil and filter and a transmission drain and refill during the next MOT at my trusted garage. I must admit my finger nails have never been so clean 😀

  13. Good Evening All. Lexus are a car company they make and sell cars. Last February My AMG Mercedes E43 was stolen. The car was equipped with Scorpion S5 Tracker Immobiliser. The tracker was working for two days post theft. The police did not attend so the car was not recovered. My Insurance paid out and I brought a Lexus RX. I have previously owned an IS 220 and a GS 250. It was my experience with these that influenced my choice of car. I had no idea of the theft problem. My insurance doubled. I then start looking on this forum. I discover why my insurance was so high. Too late I own the car. As I stated Lexus Make & sell cars. While I agree they must bear some responsibility for the venerability of my car. They have fitted the protection plates by the way. I think the Police must also take a large part of the responsibility. Even when they are being told where a stolen car is THEY DONT EVEN ATTEND. Car thief's can go about there business for the most part unmolested by the Police. For me it is quite simple. If you see a Lexus driving at night with the nearside head light not working. IT HAS BEEN STOLEN. What are the Police doing?

  16. I'm not really talking about individual dealer standards, more about Lexus as a brand and head office policies that the dealerships need to follow. I think it was back in 2001 when I first purchased an approved used Lexus. Back then an independent RAC inspection had to be performed which found every stone chip and mark that had to be correctly before it could be sold, alloys refurbs, the next service carried out, tyres with minimum of 4mm or possibly 6mm of thread, full Lexus service history etc. Now an official used vehicle may not have full Lexus service history, it won't have the next service carried out unless it is due within 2,000 miles, bodywork damage is down to private negotiation with the typical attitude that it's a used car so there will be some stone chips, scratches and wheel scuffs. Recalls once came with a bottle of Champagne as a sorry for inconvenience, now you might get some fuel if the dealer doesn't pocket that money (several people have posted here they have not received any fuel). The move to centralised PDIs where cars are now handed over with over inflated tyres due to a lack of attention to detail. Used warranties that over the years cover less and less, and owners having to fight harder to get things replaced - now with the attitude of having to wait for something that is clearly failing to get so severe that it causes a breakdown or MOT failure. The Relax warranty might be 'free' but in reality the servicing costs have increased substantially above inflation over years and the warranty dumbed down that you are paying for it, and with no advanced warranty available for people who want the additional cover. Dealers reluctant to perform warranty work because head office won't pay them enough - the dealer is more profitable doing customer work and therefore prioritises it. Major security vulnerabilities across multiple vehicles but with a very slow, inadequate response that only address a fraction of the vehicles affected. GS F delaminating interior carbon trim pieces that Lexus in the UK blame on the owners and pretend it isn't a common issue, rather than acknowledging there is an issue affecting one of their most expensive vehicles - and where Lexus in the US replace them under warranty.

  18. I had a test drive today in a Premium Plus. Leather trim, HUD and larger instrument cluster. I was very impressed with acoustic deadening, engine refinement and ( as always ) Japanese build quality. The centre screen is standard I’m told, so this is also a plus. I was interested in the Premium spec ( spec below one I drove ), which comes with a smaller 7” instrument cluster. Couldn’t find an image to show difference. That alone may be a game changer. Not entirely sure how it differs for content and being intuitive. it’s a very decent car; in specs and refinement. However, rear leg room will be an issue and drivers seat doesn’t adjust far enough back for someone who is 6ft. Probably restricted this to allow some legroom for rear passenger. Inside is quite compact! Servicing costs are £270 for intermediate and £505 for a major ( salesman informed me ). 🥴 I have also test driven the new C-HR. As much as I wanted the LBX to be better, I really didn’t think it was, plus, servicing costs etc will be cheaper on the Toyota. One other area for consideration - C-HR is on 1.9% APR and LBX on 5.9% APR……if you’re considering PCP. A lot of the components on the LBX are also carry over from C-HR/Toyota.

  20. I do approx 16K miles per year in my 2018 RC300h F-Sport I average around 42MPG doing 25mile each way commutes mainly in 'Comfort' mode, don't use Eco mode as that is worse on fuel economy and slower to pick up on acceleration. The best speed for economy is 73MPH indicated which is actually 70-71, my speedo reads 2-3MPH fast, I average 550mile to the tank and on premium fuel normally get 2MPG better than on regular but I normally only use premium every third fill. Remember the RC is a GT not a sports car but in Sport + mode it can bring a smile and flick it into that mode for a quick overtake. Recently I fitted a custom axle back performance exhaust and a K&N air filter, the car does seem to have found a few more horses and the traction control does also cut in a lot more than it used to (rear tyres and in good condition, don't know for how long though!), in sport + mode with hard acceleration I can even now hear induction noise and also the engine now revs more freely. It was noticed and mentioned by the mechanics fitting the exhaust that the standard one has a restrictor just before the final back box, that restriction is no long there on mine. I have the standard audio which if listening to the radio is fine and at 'normal' volumes is ok but turn it up to ear bleeding levels and it distorts and gets tinny, I keep it down and am happy even on motorways. Standard SAT nav is fine I've had worse, only issue I have is you need to know the street name not just the postcode to find a route which doesn't always work when going to events located in the middle of the country.

  22. I've had a 2020 RC 300h for just over 2 years now.My mpg doing local short journeys ranges between 38-43 , depending on weather/temperature. Last April,I drove from Hampshire in Southern England to Donegal/Fermanagh and averaged about 45 mpg, driving right on or around the speed limits all the way. The car is extremely comfortable, quiet and relaxing to drive...but it's no Porsche but again,no Porsche size bills. It just wafts around with completely adequate performance.Legroom and to a certain extent, headroom, are pretty limited in the rear. In summary,I've owned much faster cars, better handling cars but none of them approach the RC for both a relaxed drive and ownership experience. If you can stretch to it ,go for a facelift 2020 on F sport with Takumi pack.

  23. It will be better than diesel in town, but worse on motorway, but yes near 40MPH should be achievable. Still 20*2 per day only accounts for ~8800miles... other driving is then motorway? Well I guess it is not much of an issue in Ireland when maximum speed is even lower than UK... hybrid does okey up-to 60MPH... it is more of an issue in continental Europe where where regular speed is 90MPH.

  25. I specifically had RC200t, it is horrible on petrol any way you look at it, not because it is straight petrol, but just because it is bad engine, for wrong car, not well integrated into the platform and the car is also rather heavy. It is more fun to drive than RC300h, but all in all more compromised car than RC300h. As both are slow, but RC300h is at least relatively economical. RC300h is not amazing on fuel either, really depends what type of driving you doing, if it is city driving (or any driving up-to 50-60MPH), then the yare good, for motorway driving it is no different from 2.5L simple petrol engine that has to haul heavy battery in the boot. Any speeds over 60MPH it is not amazing and similarly sized petrol car would be same or even better on fuel consumption. Honestly, if you doing motorway driving and 17,000 miles a year, then you need diesel. Hybrid is not even close to diesel, particularly not RC300h F-Sport with 19/35/265 tyres in the rear. 40MPG on the motorway would be as good as I would expect it to get, you can get higher if you don't go past 60MPH, but I tend to drive little bit faster so 36-40MPG was what I have seen on RC300h (RC200t was more like 24-26MPG, in the city 20MPG). Can't say if 32,000 Euro a good price or bad price, as the prices in UK are different... it would be RC-F money in UK to be fair with you. As funny as it is RC-F also has better fuel economy from it's 5L V8 than RC200t - go figure!

  27. The reason for the highest level of taxation is to pay back the ridiculous debt the UK is in, with interest!. Debt to GDP ratio is standing at 85.4% (down from over 100% in May last year). Compare that to Germany's 59.8% That means the lions share of those taxes are going to servicing and paying back the debt that has ballooned from so many failed, mis-targeted and overbudget projects (e.g. HS2). Last year just interest on that mountain of debt was 112 Billion, that's nearly 10% of all government spending, you still need to pay back the ~2.6 trillion, and we wonder why taxes are so high??! Essential budgets for police and healthcare were left to stagnate or move backwards to cover that debt. You want those essentials, yes taxes will need to go up until that debt is brought back down to reasonable levels. I'm not talking politics here, just hard cold numbers.

  28. Nope, it was a typical idiot in charge issue. I believed I had set up my driving position. In the event the settings had not been memorised. I have redone it and it's fine now. leg room was not an issue. What I didn't like was sitting low. I like to sit high and straight to drive. that gives me a certain sightline and puts the wheel at the height for comfortable hand position. Without those it all just does not feel right. Anyway I have gone through the process of setting driving position again and this time it's been memorised so I don't expect to have this problem again.

  30. I have the same problem with my 2023 450h+. I won't repeat what everyone is saying other than to add that I travelled home from North Wales last Saturday, running entirely on petrol, did about 50 miles on Sunday and similar on Monday, then this morning - battery flat. So it is not primarily when a car has not been much used that the 12v battery dies. This has happened to me twice in the 9 months I have had the car. It completely disables the car which can be a disaster. The boot cannot be opened manually so it can be very difficult to access the battery - you have yo go in through the back seat, if you can open that door. It seems to me like a 'Don't buy this car' issue.

  32. Before we decided on the RX we tried an NX F sport with the standard stereo and was appalled by the tinny sound quality. We then tried a Takumi with the ML system and thought it much better. However on returning to the F sport and delving into the settings we found that the balance of the speakers was completely to the front and that the bass was set low. Once corrected it was difficult to discern a noticeable difference between the two. So in essence I agree with Eggie, have a back to back sit in some demo cars and play around with the settings as it does make a significant difference to the sound.

  34. If it looks like a standard O ring, most car spare shops / motor factors would have a tray of different size O rings, pop into one and get them to matched it up . If it looks like a custom seal for that reservoir only, you’ll have to buy the whole thing from Lexus . have you got a photo of the underside of the reservoir ?

  38. Thank you BigBoomer. After having a some resistors replaced on the ECU I now get the check engine light only if I accelerate hard to over 3 or 4K rpm or drive over 102kph. Having said that, the car pulls much better and the shifting nearly spot on. The display error code has changed to: EFI____E____NG____12. Googling error code 12 pointed mainly towards cam or crank position sensor issues. Resistance check on these all showed them to be well within specs. Cables are a bit hard after 25 years of heat cycles but not broken, connectors are all new. I have new sensors ready to install but these are non-OEM items so I'll only install them until I rule out other issues. First I intend to replace the ACIS vacuum solenoid which is well and truly fried. A new OEM one is on it's way as is a new MAF meter which I suspect might be tired after 300K+. I'm hoping that replacing those two items will again bring improvement. Any information on code 12 or feedback from others who have tackled similar issues are greatly appreciated.

  46. I agree with Linus. Today's manufacturers have ensured their bodies do not corrode unlike in the 70's when rubberised sprayed on underseals were all the rage but eventually merely covered a rotting shell behind the rubber coating. It formed a mould of rubber over factory finished painted steel. Done with the best intensions but when moisture got behind the covering it rotted out chassis legs, side members and floors discovered 5-6 years later when finally the MOT man was able to poke through the moulded rubber with his screwdriver to discover crumbling wet and rusty remains. The chassis leg etc looked like it was still there because the rubber stayed in place as a moulded replica of the part it was supposed to protect. Stay clear. Just look at any 20 year old Japanese vehicles or British made cars for that matter which 1. are still around and 2. Have good bodywork and chassis still.

  49. Oh... so dumping cancer causing pollution into the air and causing cancer is NOT equivalent to dumping oil into the river? If you not arguing with the mortality then what are you arguing about? By the tone of your comment it sounds like "it is okey to kill other people around you" just because you can't be bothered to maintain your car. Having no DPF is literally worse than dumping tyres, or oil to the river.... because that mostly stay in the river, it may hurt wildlife, but it does not hurt other people unless they happen to use water from that river - soot and particulate matter literally poisons everyone around you! It is you who is moronic and single minded if you don't get basic things like this. Law is not personal view mate... that is before we even consider morality of it. You have a little bit less gutless car at the cost of what exactly? killing people around you? What do you think it is some sort of joke? Sure NOx isn't confirmed to be the cause of health issues it is just "suspected", same for CO2 - it is not directly causing any harm (inert gas otherwise). But soot and ppm below 2.5nm is 100% cancerogenic - when you breath it in it is small enough to dissolve in the blood and cause cancer. As well it never leaves our bodies, so if you ever breath it in, it stay in your body until death, there is no way to remove it. DPF is specifically fitted to diesel cars to filter it out and burn it out to less harmful CO2. So no - it is not personal opinion - people who do it should be brought in front of their families and shot in the face... maybe that will teach them the lesson!
