  1. Hey Ganzoom, correct me if i am wrong but 90K seems to buy you an underdeveloped EV called Tesla with mediocre buildquality, horrible fit and finish, rust at critical places after some months, batterypacks that often stop working, doors that do not work, touchscreens that need replacing as they freeze and die, a curb weight of 2450kgs, depreciation faster than a novice skiing down a black slope, and looks that are questionable to say the least. ( i find it damn ugly looks like a whale but taste is personal). How can you say that Lexus is missing the boat compared with this? for thesame amount you could have bought a beautiful Range Rover, a superfast BMW 7 series ( or X⁶ ) Audi, Merc or Lexus RX And IS.

  2. Right then for the hell of it and just to see I put the cheapest tyres from black circles I could buy on my ls430, "lets see how bad they can be" Well after sheepishly turning up at the tyre place and not getting any strange looks or comments even though I had been embarrassed and worried about turning up to buy the cheapest ones because everyone knows your meant to buy the most expensive tyres you can afford and lord help you if you buy anything but the big names dunlop, goodyear etc as of course you are going to at the 1st round about completely lose control and plough into the party of school children and end up with your beloved car wrapped around a tree. I got back in the car and drove slowly and carefully out of the garage, turned left onto the main road.... and even managed to navigate a round about without any Starsky and Hutch action, I do think the road noise is a little higher but just a smidge they handle better than the last ones I had on there and even seem to stop in the rain. Although I do intend to go out on a wet day down to a private road by myself to slam the brakes on to see what happens, better that than with the family in the car. If this is my last post It has been a pleasure owning a lexus, reading and talking to all of you lovely people.

  3. I have this afternoon p/x my ISF in exchange for a M240i! I only put 3000 miles on it, so it now has about 7200 miles. the colour black with beige leather (I have posted some pictures in another thread). Subject to a couple of marks (which no doubt Lexus will fix) the car is immaculate, no seriously it is. The rear seats have been sat in once in my ownership and according to the dealer I bought the car off, the rear seats have never been sat in. The car was serviced in June. However, the big service is up next, but I doubt if it will need anything. Tyres have lots of tread left. The dealer said that the depreciation on the car was running at about £600pm, therefore try not not to pay over the odds. I think it looks better than the red one Lexus have for sale. I traded it in at Cooper BMW Reading, which is part of the Inchcape group. One of the Lexus dealers in that group apparently wanted it. I know dealers juggle around the figures, but the p/x for my pocket was £30k. That left me with equity for the BMW, I was quite pleased with that considering I only had the car 7 months. WBAC were quoting £29,400, before an inspection. I will be interested to see how much they mark it up. It is an immaculate car, no thrashing, but there was the occasional blast of course (which has to be done). I hope it goes to a good home.

  7. Sorry yes, you are right. apologies.. What I hate is people trying to do a hard sell on Tesla on a Lexus forum, I'm sure none of us go onto BMW/erc forum to do the same there.. This forum topic was meant to be gentle chat about possible future purchases, all makes consideed including even Tesla by some - fine., but not to be a technical/marketing sell on Tesla. If I was a Tesla fanboy, I'd go onto ta tesla Forum..

  9. Just to help, EuroCarParts are running a Halloween Sale with 30% off. This means the following: Brembo front discs move from £109.99 each (£219.98 for the pair) to £153.99 Pagid pads (until someone can get the Brembo equivalent) move from £59.99 to £41.99 Drops the total from £279.99 to £195.98 Not to be sniffed at. And the sale is on for the next 3-days (until the end of the 31st October)

  10. I wouldn't worry, even when the TCR is switched 'off' it really is still on. Last winter when we had an empty snowy car park at work I tried everything possible to get the rear-end to do a bit of dancing, it just wouldn't do it, no matter what buttons I pressed, how hard I pushed the car the rear end just refused to do what I wanted. I think Lexus fully practices 'safety first' approach, shame in a way because in the few seconds of freedom you do get before the TCR kicks you can really feel the balance of the car is really good.

  11. Hello and welcome to the LOC. There doesn't appear to be a UK supplier but as usual there are plenty over in the USA. If you do a search you will find various suppliers over there with prices around £700 including shipping, you may of course also get hit for import duties. I have no idea if these are good or bad it is just an example but take a look. http://pbbrakes.com/street-coilovers-kits/lexus/rx/lexus-rx300-330-350-4wd-03-09-coilover-suspension-kit.html The RX was also produced with conventional suspension so you could convert using OEM parts.

  12. Morning everyone, So I own 450h in the UK and though I was enjoying the car - well till yesterday :) im writing this post from east Germany which mean I spend good few hours yesterday on Germans motorways and I must say I can see how much of the car I was missing so far. Cruising at 120mph is so effortless and touching 155mph wasn't problematic but road must be extra smooth. My everyday 70-80mph sound silly now and that car wasn't created for that for sure :) As for mpg it was 39 up to Germany border but later dropped to 36 whole trip average - which I think is brilliant with 3 peoples and a lot of stuff. Saying all that it would be so sad to get back home to our everyday 70-80mph which is just a walk in the park for our sprinter.

  13. When was the car registered? I suspect the mileage for next service is wrong anyway If you've done 8k. YOur need a service in 2k miles, not 7542! If your car is registered in December you'll be looking at December 2016 service, not December 2017 as well. Very odd. The only reason the above wouldn't apply is if you bought it at 5k when it was 1 year old and they did the 10k service which would explain the 7542 miles showing up

  14. My 2011 has 70K and is just like new. Yes it's a bit of firm ride but not uncomfortable. Don't worry about the traction batteries they'll outlast the car. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  19. Bought the bits suggested by Alan Plummer and it does indeed work. Now able to watch TV on the screen via Slingplayer (not whilst driving of course!). Thanks for both suggestions guys.

  20. Just ordered my winter setup. Have always run winters even on my old Quattro's. Good formula for winter setup is cheap rims, good tyres. In this instance went for a square setup of 225's at each corner. The fox rims vaguely reminded me of the LFA rim so should look ok... for the relatively short period they will be on each year. Once these arrive will have my originals fully refurbished (not that they really need it but I cant stand even the smallest mark) so will be chemical stripped to bare metal and powdercoated. Good times
