  2. If it's one of the electric motors then the hybrid system would be showing faults. Stop guessing and get the car on Techstream operated by someone who knows what they're doing.

  3. Disassembled my rear brakes yesterday as vibration re-reappeared while braking from motorway speed and I felt that driver side rear brakes are warm after a drive compared to other three sides. Anyway, as soon as I removed the calliper one of the brake shoe just came off of the brake pad!!! May be this is the reason for warm brakes, luckily it was before 12am so I managed to go to Lexus Glasgow and got myself a set of brake pads for £50, I think it is not a bad price but never compared it to any other. I think the reason for shoe coming off is that when I cleaned the brakes like 3-4 months ago they were (pads) covered by rust so I used a spanner do bang them so the rust pills off and I guess the pads did not like an impact, well, I learned my lesson! No banging the pads! 🙂 Need to take the car for a proper test drive and do a few emergency stops to see how brakes perform now. I also cleaned the brakes from copper grease I used last time, especially sliding pins and regreased them with high temp melting point grease, will see how it goes. If the weather gets better might check the front callipers but they were alright last time I looked into them. Vlady

  10. They look really good. I agree with Phil, most non leather car seats can be a bit naff so why don't we have nice options like the Japanese! I've just chauffered a couple of people in mine and they were raving about the comfort of the seats. I'm so glad my Celsior didn't come with leather!

  13. Cheers appreciate your info/advice. Bought the car. Think I got a good deal (at least I think I did - do you ever?) They are getting the hybrid battery checked through Lexus, two year Gold AA warranty with full recovery as part of warranty. Fully serviced before as well. Also alloys refurbed (gone for a Matt black as car is red and black and all paint work checked and protected. Will get the big Lexus service next time - we won’t be doing many miles so ought to tie in. Thanks again to everyone. Really pleased.

  18. +1, doesn’t bode well when a fairly sought after car is seen to be ‘hanging’ around and advertised numerous times by different sellers, and like you say, if it was minor defects then someone perhaps may have bit the bullet and taken it on regardless. Paul m

  19. The mats arrived and they fit perfectly. Firstly, it's clear that these rubber mats fit very snugly and aren't going to move around at all. The non-slip design on the base reinforces this. What's more, I found that the carpet mats in my car are also facelift versions, but they've been fitted using trim clip adaptors of some kind. Rather than a single plastic pin, they're more like a plastic arm, with hooks on either end. So for added safety, my mats are actually clipped in.

  20. I had my GS washed F.O.C. by Lexus Chester, arranged for my Annual Service for 5 September and the use of a loan car. Then I painted my garden shed using the contents from an old Castrol GTX can. I will use some old Duckhams 20-50 next time! Ah, Happy Days.

  21. Judging by various reports on this forum and from those more local who have viewed and driven it, unfortunately it is not in great condition. If its been kicking around for as long in the trade for as long as it has (almost 2 years now) then there is probably very good reason for that being the case. If it's just paint then that is not a huge concern but if that was the case then it should have been snapped up by now.

  23. MPX-B supplies the door ECUs and Radio No.1 supplies the Body ECU which in part controls the interior lighting. I would be looking for a light being on somewhere like the glove box or boot, pop a camera phone in on video record then see if the light stays on when closed. I have the OEM Electrical Wiring Manual which is around 400 pages, you are quite welcome to lend it for the cost of postage to yourself and back.

  24. In that case then Spencer, I apologise. When you said earlier that a guy had been, taken the battery out, charged it and replaced it, I assumed that you were confusing the 12V and the hybrid batteries. It's such a rare occurrence, especially on such a young car (Lexus warranty them for 15 years as long as you have the annual Hybrid Health Check done), that I thought you had to be mistaken. The guy is right, if the engine doesn't start the hybrid battery will flatten but I don't know how long it would take. Both batteries depend on each other - the 12V battery boots the computers to start the hybrid system and get the car READY, then the hybrid battery is used to charge the 12V again via a DC/DC converter and also runs the engine up to speed using one of the motor/generators before applying fuel and spark to fire it. Given the absence of any error codes and not being there to poke about, I'm really not sure what you should do next but, whatever it is, I sincerely wish you all the best for a speedy and reasonably-priced solution.

  26. Have a look at this https://www.hevshop.com/post/lexus-hybrid-battery-replacement-ct200h Is that the battery that he took out and charged? And if so, how long did it take him to charge it?

  27. But I thought you said that he took the battery out to charge it and then put it back in and it showed no signs of anything being wrong with it? If that's correct, what was a jump start required for? What I'm trying to get at is, are you absolutely sure that your 12V battery is in good working order and fully charged? There's been a few people on these forums who have parked at the airport and come back to a flat 12V battery after a two-week holiday so they do discharge quickly. We need to make sure beyond any doubt whatsoever that you have a good battery first or we'll get nowhere. Using a multimeter, check the standing voltage of the 12V battery and compare it to this chart:

  28. @Sjs1994 I see that the other topic you refer to is dated 27th June, about the car going into 'Traction Battery Preservation Mode'. A couple of people responded, myself included, but you never came back to let us know what happened. Has the car not started since then or has it been running alright? If it's been alright, what did you do to cure the last problem? As Peter said above, this is probably going to need Techstream to diagnose rather than just a generic OBD reader so do you have it, or know someone who has?

  29. For anyone who thinks my post above is a little harsh, I'll explain. It winds me up no end to hear people say things like this because I feel it's a bit derogatory to a whole section of our society. Some people seem to think that a Lexus is a mythical, magical beast and only the mysterious race of people from the Planet Lex, who have trained at the feet of a golden Unicorn and drunk its purple tears at midnight on the Solstice can possibly be allowed to touch it. It isn't - it's 'a car' and any decent, trusted mechanic, auto-electrician or whatever can deal with it. There are lots of people out there who have spent thousands of hours learning their trades, be that mechanic, auto-electrician or whatever, and if they happen to be self-employed they have also spent thousands of pounds setting up and equipping their garages. These people need our custom to keep a roof over their heads, not just to get another corporate fat-cat another bottle of champagne. If you have basic DIY skills you can even do the job yourself. It took me about 20 - 25 minutes from gathering my tools together to going for a test drive to make sure it was working properly. To take points from above: Mine is and I did it, but if I didn't possess the skills I would have taken it to an auto-electrician, NOT Halfords, who I wouldn't even trust to change a bulb. Mine is. In fact, to get that 3M tape off you have to use something like dental floss and 'saw' it off. All dashcams are valid for continental driving. There is nothing country-specific about them. They don't do an excellent job and are not for me either, but a proper, qualified auto electrician would be. And here's my cam: Wiring taken above headlining and down the inside of that windscreen pillar to fusebox behind glove compartment. Total cost £98.57 but if not DIY then add about £30 for auto-electrician. By the way Terry, the way they work is in a recording loop. I have a 128GB card in mine and if I remember correctly that will hold about 10 hours of full HD video. Once the card is full it starts recording over the earliest stuff and so on in a continuous loop. If you happen to have an accident then the accelerometer detects the shock and automatically locks the relevant files, starting about 30 seconds before impact. This is so those files are protected from being overwritten.

  32. @PCM: Not too often you see a silver Soarer, very tasty in silver. Some bulb replacement and out with the alternator which got a new rectifier. All healthy again. Old fuel pump looks pretty rough!! New AEM in and working a treat.

  33. My NX Luxury is Sonic Titanium. It is brilliant. I would say it has a bronze tint to it rather than gold. It all depends on the light. It does not show the dirt which is great. It was a good choice.
