  1. Personally I would be making a return visit to the place that did the tyre change and tracking, if all was OK before what has been done to cause the problem now? Did they actually adjust the tracking or just check it and it was within specification? Also check the tyre pressures are correct. There is a TSB applying to your car regarding a steering problem but only up to 2013 models.

  2. It's not really necessary to disconnect the battery as long as you're using a modern, intelligent charger with a clean regulated output. They have to put that warning in the manual just in case someone is going to use an old transformer-based charger that would have a dirty output, which could indeed damage the car's electronics. An example of a modern intelligent charger is the CTEK MXS 5 here, but others are available. As for the charging current, a charger like the CTEK will take care of that for you. Usually, the device being charged will determine the current draw but this is one reason why these are called 'intelligent' chargers. If you do disconnect the battery to charge it then yes, the windows and sunroof if there is one will probably need to be reset but you'll probably be able to find instructions on how to do that either in the owners manual if you have one, or a video on YouTube, or just a general googling.

  3. Just looking at an RCF and no ML......this on a car that was £60k plus two years ago. I currently have Harman kardon and profess to enjoying a decent sound quality so it might be a miss.

  6. I don't blame you. My wife told me too keep it, but I just knew what I had to do unfortunately. House extension going up next year and I needed to up our contingency, amongst other reasons.

  7. I think I’d really miss my ISF if I sold it. Its not perfect, but it’s really got a personality unlike the fast Audi we had, and it’s only 1-2 times a year we really need the extra estate load carrying capacity im under a bit of financial pressure too, but I think I’ll just buy Aldi beans not Waitrose ones 🧐

  8. I would imagine you've all been on tenterhooks waiting for an update - well, wait no more. After removing the Carista OBD and doing around ten miles every other night since, the IS has started first time and shown no signs of any wobbles. Someone on Amazon said that it was ok to leave the OBD plugged in, but you'll not be surprised to hear that I beg to differ! I shall be making such a statement in the product reviews shortly. This thingy which I bought back in 2017 to keep Satan The iQ going has definitely paid for itself now. Satan no longer needs it because it is in daily use in case anyone is wondering and after the flat battery/entry denied fiasco of earlier this year is (touch wood) in fine fettle. Life has returned to its normal reliable self. Hurrah!

  9. The trouble is Davey that the words sensible and logical mean different things to different people. I feel that you, Herbie,Piers, Roger and I certainly share the same understanding as do probably many other Members. Linas does to in his heart of hearts, but he can sometimes live in the outer regions and our friend Gang seems to dwell amongst the other Gods on Olympus. :):)

  12. Consider that jump starting a hybrid does not need high currents, as the only purpose is to give a 12V power if battery is discharged to make ECUs work (just some A) while power for starting engine is given by HV battery, so you can choose the tiniest jump starter, ore even a simple 12V AGM battery of 5Ah ( even less).

  14. They're a standard fitment on my 2013 RX Luxury. Purely aesthetic, just made of plastic, they'd disintegrate if they met a rock. They go a long way underneath, so they are difficult to clean.

  15. You won't get OBD2 fault codes "on the dash" - you need an OBD2 code reader like any of these here or Techstream to find out what's going on. It may be that no codes have been generated anyway but if they have, that makes the job ten times easier because the codes are the first step to logically diagnosing what's wrong. Without a code as a starting point it's just complete guesswork.

  18. Hi Mike 1) i would give the tyres a good look over as the car is 3 / 4 years old and the tyres maybe nearing their end of life 2) ask for them to install the latest nav update as its expensive to have the update installed later on. 3) i always ask for a paint touch up stick in case i get any stone chips especially with gritters being present over the winter months

  21. I was driven round Milan in a Passat W8. Very nice too from what I can remember. The traffic though, especially from the centre to the airport in rush hour on a Friday afternoon was another matter however. I was so impressed that I had arrived in one piece that I gave the company driver 20 euros to buy himself a drink. From his expression and gestures, I don't think this happened too often!

  22. Put your fob right on the start button to see if it detects it. I parked my IS250 at a friend's house and the car wouldn't start until I did this. One of his neighbours probably had some hideously powerful wireless network, doorbell or something which interfered with it.

  24. Now this is interesting! Mines a 2014 so only a year out! I went back to the place that did my tracking 6 times. When they originally tracked the car before any adjustments, the rear right tyre was out, so they adjusted that and they said it would knock the front left out so they adjust that too. When I drove out of the garage, I started to get a slight pull to the left but the steering was ok not stiff. Over time the steering has started to become stiffer. So i went to Lexus Hatfield and they tracked it, and the wheels were a bit out still even after I tracked it orginally, so they made more adjustments, but it took them 4 times to do it as my steering wheel was off centre. But i still wasnt happy and Lexus Hatfield gave up in the end and refunded me. So now I'm here for help as my IS300h tracking/steering is buggered and car pulls to the left. The car was fine before I got it tracked drove straight, but after straightening all the wheels on a Hunter machine originally then going to Lexus Hatfield, the wheel alignment has been messed up, but all 4 wheels are straight. It feels like something is knocking the alignment out on the left side, hence the pull. I'm a bit stuck with a sore right arm from holding the wheel to the right all the time. 😞
