  1. You need to go with the medical expert view on this. I will tell you my thoughts. I think your medication is probably the same I got, Nitrate. It dilates your blood vessels so you have that little bit more room in there to let that bit more blood to your heart and thats why you feel better ,because you are getting more oxygen from your increased blood supply. The only reason that would stop working is not that it would stop dilating your blood vessels it would be that your blood vessels actually got that bit more blocked thereby reducing the effect of the Nitrate. However, the latter blockage did not occur overnight. It's been a multi year issue hence following that logic, any further meaningful blockage is hardly likely to occur in a matter of a few months. You see where this is going? Against that is one other factor which may be significant and I cannot comment on it. You have already had a heart attack and frankly I don't know what damage was done by that ,but it may be enough to want your Consultant to take no chances and get you done sooner than later. I reiterate your legs and your stamina will recover more quickly than your upperbody. Can you have the boating holiday without doing the heavy lifting bit. You could take the wheel for example, but running up sails etc I think that's a shout too far, because even if you do it I bet you will feel some discomfort from doing it. Trying to help, but please do whatever your consultant deems best for you.

  2. It is either severely discharged or faulty - you should expect to see between 12.6 - 12.8 v when fully charged. I'd certainly expect it to read higher after 80 mins of charging, but that might not be enough to fully charge it, depending on how flat it started out at. I assume you don't have a battery charger to fully charge it up? If not you don't actually need to drive the vehicle, you can just leave it in 'Ready' mode for it to charge the battery - turn off the heating system so the petrol engine doesn't fire up all the time to keep the cabin warm.

Jeez, don't even think about postponing this op ............. afterwards you'll find the sensible way to full recovery and your son will still be there and simply adjust to whatever he needs to for you Your health is far more important than the whim of a holiday ... that can take place with you chilling out and letting others take the helm ! 8. Robber Rishi and Jeremy unt are doing their bit too. Britain has downgraded its forecasts for the takeup of electric cars over the next seven years as higher financing costs and rising energy prices threaten to cut the incentive for drivers to replace combustion engines. The latest forecast from the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR), released alongside the chancellor’s autumn statement, said that just 38% of new vehicles sold in the UK in 2027 would be electric, down from the 67% it predicted in March

  9. Don't think they are 'trying' anymore. Think I read the other day that he lost that case to the shareholders. By the way that is something I never like to see as a investor. Such a rift between shareholders and founder. It really doesn't inspire me with confidence that the founder has quite got the balance right between his interests and the interests of the people who came along and gave him a buyout for his early efforts.

  11. The beginning of the end of the Electric car fashion....Looks like it? Volvo pulling out of Polestar. BYD flooding the market with cheap subsidised, but quite good apparently, electric vehicles. Second hand prices going downhill rapidly. It's not looking good for them (including Lexus offerings - particularly the blighted RZ ) but might mean some bargains for us. On Thursday, Volvo said it would no longer provide financial support to Polestar and would look at offloading some of its 48pc stake in the company to other shareholders, including China’s Geely. (Most of the rest of Polestar is already owned by Geely chairman Eric Li.) The news is the latest blow to Polestar, an early mover in electric cars that has struggled to keep up with premium rivals such as Tesla and which remains heavily loss-making despite its cars receiving critical acclaim. It is also the latest rupture in the electric vehicle industry. Battery-powered cars were once predicted to dominate the vehicle market by the end of this decade, but their sense of inevitability has faded in recent months as sales slow and as targets have been pushed back.

  13. I thought I'd share my experiences having picked up my NX450h+ a couple of days ago. I'm the second owner, the first being a different Lexus dealership who pre-registered the car in late September 2023, so 4 months ago. 35 miles on the clock when I collected it. No second key fob, just the manual key. Their description of when I'd get the 2nd key fob was completely in line with the latest news on this forum. I was also told the "priority order" is based on chassis number, so mine should be coming soon despite only just buying the car. I was also told they will use my address for the letter as the registered owner of the car. I asked about locking wheel nuts/bolts. They hadn't thought of this, but having checked there were none in the car, he said they had been sent a few sets, so it was also supplied and fitted while I was doing all the paperwork. Impressive. The car came with a paper copy of the manual. My fuel flap is sticky. As a result they've ordered a new one and it will be fitted for me in a week or so while I wait So - all in all a good experience so far, and I really like the car.

  15. I think the 12 weeks you will be ok. Don't rush anything take every day in its stride. I cant emphasize enough time take your time. Don't be afraid to let others do things. Careful with lifting IE let others bring shopping bags from car. You wont be able to drive for 6weeks i think it was when i had mine. You will get stronger i promise but it takes time. Get enrolled in the cardiac rehabilitation class that helps. One milestone i remember is getting my surgical stockings off i had on both legs. They will harvest the veins from your legs if your lucky they might take one from the chest they are better and have less chance of clogging up again. You will gradually build up the distance you can walk each week going further. You'll be ok just don't rush and take your time.

  19. Hello, Excited about my new toy. I have had a number of mobile and folding phones over the years. But the arrival of the Honor Magic V2 folding phone got me very excited. Why? It's the future (along with garlic bread as our friend Peter Kay would say). So I have been into gadgets for many mnay years.. Walkmans hifi, laptops etc etc, This phone is light, mega thin and great specc, but surprisingly the battery is big at 5000mah and made from new stuff, silicon carbon! The bad bit is the cost at £1700, even with early bird deals still looking at £1200, so hardly a bargain! For some it maybe worth buying in 6 months time when it will be worth £500? I have a few phones at the moment which I rotate round including a Samsung galaxy fold (the brick). I can assure you, I will not be doing that now and will use this everywhere including in the car. Also interestingly this could be the battery technology for cars in the future?

AFAIK the rear glass would be the same as the main changes from the series 1 and II were front brakes going to 2 pot, bigger wheels from 15” to 16” and various other mainly cosmetic changes. That said obviously you need to be sure the rear screen is correct so I will look into this further for you.

  24. It is personal choice here, but it could be life and death choice in china. I also know that some chinese who have left china had been harassed based on information china was able to collect on them abroad, in fact I know one person myself who had bought iphone in china (they have segregated icloud etc.) and they were still harassed based on information crapple shared with china. Only once they got iphone in UK they managed to lose the tail (still weird choice to go back to the company that sold you out). For google I just create account for each new device and only use that account with that device. I mean I am sure google can still figure out based on IPs and what not that it is same user using multiple accounts, but at least from targeted marketing algorithm it seems to work. Still (this may be paranoia) but if you speak out loud about your holiday plans in the room, few hours later you get adverts for package holiday to the destination you discussed... well it is still better than be re-educated in one of the china's camps. Ironically - you can hide from targeted advertising by using chinese phones, because their google services do not connect to main google servers, or at least it is not so obvious. So in some sense if CCP can't reach you and hurt you, then as foreign national you may get more privacy using chinese phones. As for crapple - I can just confirm they are horrible, from developer perspective they are horrible to deal with, from user perspective they are horrible to deal with, they basically IDs you personally, because you must give them your credit card details to download even free apps... so you can't be semi-anonymous with them like you can on android and their control freaks as well.

  28. Need to correct that one Malc, you can do something about it !. Besides the lifestyle stuff you can be aware of what to look for with heart related issues. There are usually early warnings, shortness of breath, tightness in the chest, sharp pains in the upper left arm. If you are aware of these get a check up straightaway, because if it really is the time when DNA is ready to throw you the curveball then at least we have a level of medical science that can shove it back under a rock for quite a long time. Really we are the first generation to have been given that gift as many of the age related and DNA origined ailments have been only been addressed within our lifetime. Talk about a lucky generation !

  31. My colleagues are also all on iphones, generally in UK iphones are very popular, certainly way more popular than Globally or in rest of Europe. Not really sure why they are so popular. I personally never liked iphones, just my preference. Bu they also been quite dodgy recently with removing features rather than adding them, also with introduction of Pro... basically if you don't get Pro then you getting "mid-range" phone, for the price that used to be "high-end". Also I just don't like how restricted everything is, basically you buy the phone, but apple still owns it and dictates you what you can and can't do. Just can't live with that. In my experience Samsung provides 3-4 years of updates for operating system, but they continue with security updates for quite a while. I am not sure what they promise, but certainly more than 5 years. At least that is true for their "flagship" devices, so Galaxy S, Galaxy Fold all getting at least 5 years of updates. I guess depends on where one draws the line, but 5 years in my experience were plenty, longer than that and phone becomes really obsolete anyway. As for Chinese phones - they simply can't be trusted, some models may get updates, some may not get-updates... simply the number of different devices they spit out each year means that it would be very hard to stay on top of their all updates for many years. I think 2-3 years if you lucky. The Oppo Find X that I got in 2018 only got 1 update after like 18 months and that was it, over time apps started glitching and crashing on it and by ~2021 it became almost useless. To befair nothing major has failed on it, battery got to maybe 6 hours, also it had sliding camera and it developed the fault where sometimes you would slide camera cover and it would not turn on, but then usually if you close and open it, then it would turn on, not sure if that was software or hardware issue. I guess with time it would have stopped working completely, but had not done so in time I was still using it.

  36. I had 3 stents fitted 12 years ago following a heart attack. I've been having pains for the last couple of years and getting progressively worse. I had an angiogram/camera job done in July last year, they thought maybe one of the stents had collapsed and that was causing the pain, as it turned out the stents were fine but the camera video shows that one artery is 50% blocked and another 30% blocked. The main blockage is too near to the heart wall to be stented so needs to be bypassed, so doing both. The medication they give me six months ago is superb but the surgeon says it wont last long before the pains will be back. The surgeon is a bit of a joker, he says the main reason for doing the bypass is because he still has a large mortgage to pay off. The car is in for the Ghost at 11.30 this morning.

  37. Sorry to read of your issue. I had a NX300H for 4 years (2018-2022) and probably experienced this problem on about 6 occasions. Have you tried switching the infotainment system off and on again rather than utilising the start button? I found that this was a cure at times. I think it's just a software quirk which reared its head for no apparent reason. Other than that I enjoyed 4 years of totally trouble free motoring covering 32000 miles supported by a great team at Lexus Edinburgh and hope that you enjoy your NX300 as much as I enjoyed mine.

  39. Fuses don't blow based on voltage or power just current. So it makes sense to use a common fuse for both 12v and 24v vehicles (with 24v vehicles commonly having voltages near 29v when charging). The voltage rating is more related to the gap between the fusible link inside the fuse which needs to be greater on higher voltage applications to stop arcing between the two points. I think all standard automotive fuses are slow blow - they should be able to work at the rating current indefinitely, but I would expect them to blow within a second or two if you doubled their capacity.

  40. I'd recommend you never just use Accessory mode when sitting in the vehicle, always put it in Ready mode and let the petrol engine cut in/out as needed. That way the hybrid system is providing the power to the vehicle and charging the 12v battery.

  41. I agree Lexus/Toyota need to act and fast. I recently had a attemped theft of my 2023 Lexus ES (will be footing the bill for damage out of my own pocket). I have no idea if the 2023 ES has encrypted can-bus or not, and the thief does not know either. This will result in owners of all cars having insurance premiums needless be increased. Being a new owner of a Lexus branded car I am disapointed in how this is being handled, but then I don't think Lexus is that good at customer care based on my initial purchase experience after delivery. I chose this brand as I thought they had a good reputation, oh how wrong I have been. All companies experience problems of some kind, the true test is how they sort to these problems. History shows that companies that fail their customers don't last long. Maybe their slogan can be "Buy a Lexus , the worst financial decision of your life"

  42. Yes Steve, to access the adjusters a small cut out is required. It is quite easy to judge where to cut when replacing the boot carpet trim. You could dab a bit of chalk or grease on the top of the strut and then slowly press the carpet on top of it to make the mark for the hole. Some owners have fitted quite large (2-3") round pop out covers over the top of them to make it neat and that removes the need for pin point accuracy with the first cut. I'm no car wizard and I had no trouble with it. If you are going to get professional help to fit the MeisterRs I'm sure they would cut the holes for you for a tiny bit extra.
    1 point
  43. While you are here Neil. Meister coilovers seem to actually be a cheaper alternative to replacing all four corners with new Lexus shocks and springs. Might as well replace the 16 year old springs if I am doing the shocks. Do you need to cut little holes in the carpet for the rear ones? If so how do you pinpoint where to cut the hole?

  44. The other problem I've had is with the headlamp aim being too low. It satisfies the MOT standards but the dipped beam doesn't project quite far enough. (in my case lowering the car didn't help) Careful minor manual adjustment fixed it but I think it can be cancelled out if there is a need to do a zero calibration procedure. So many systems can be affected by even a failure of just one sensor, whether it's a height, yaw or wheel speed sensor.

  45. Unfortunately we are all too aware of this issue on these forums. Back as far as 2021 we had reports of stolen RXs where the owner was sure the keys weren't relayed - very likely to have been a CAN bus attack, we just didn't know at the time.
    1 point
  46. rayaans- Where did you learn of CanBus thefts and Lexus providing the plates ? Why would a normal owner of a Lexus be aware of a post manufacture fitting of a security measure, other than by a recall. Keyless thefts have been all over the media for years and manufacturers have changed key devices etc as did Lexus. It’s because Keyless became more secure the thieves found and exploited the CanBus vulnerability. Newspapers and other media explained how keyless theft works and how to overcome it. In all the articles I have read about Lexus having the 2nd highest theft rate, none of them mentioned CanBus attacks so normal owners assume it is Keyless. Other than on these type of forums / websites no media has broadcast or informed about CanBus thefts. Lexus aren’t going to, as that just attracts even more thefts. I think it is wrong to suggest that the owner is in any way responsible for a theft because they didn’t have a little known post manufacturing device fitted - that is a small step away from saying insurers shouldn’t pay out if an owner hasn’t taken every single measure to prevent a theft.

  47. I am still waiting to get my canbus fitted - in the meantime I am using a good old Halfords sourced crook lock on the steering wheel - clearly visible and an extra deterrent - on top of this the car is always double locked - if they can still get away wiht my pride and joy, then I know I have done all I can.
