  1. Hey Lexus family, I was recently loaned the current NX 350h in F sport trim by Lexus Glasgow. Firstly, I am loving the Fuji Red paint. I can't say I see too many NX's in a bold colour. The red interior was a treat too. + less cvt noise compared to Mk 1 NX + handled well and smooth enough ride + real world 44mpg (vs 35mpg I got in the mk 1) - price (over £52k for this one) - not 100% convinced on a lot of features through the touchscreen Enjoy some pics below.

  2. MPG is sensitive to so many things it's hard to say what the cause is. The wind could've been against you more than usual for all we know. If you haven't given the filter a clean, it wouldn't be a bad shout to do it anyway. Especially if the rear driver's side is used a lot. For whatever reason, it isn't a service item so generally Lexus won't touch it until it's a problem. Plus side? Hoover for the filter and some air to clear the fan out and it's good to go. The downside? You're gonna have to get behind the boot lining to do it. I wouldn't take much notice of the manual thing in all honesty... It's largely just for engine braking and holding revs when off throttle and the car overrides the 'gears' anyway. Think of it more as hill decent mode. I wouldn't use it for much more than a long hill decent.

  3. LV don’t seem to want to distinguish between Lexus models that are vulnerable to theft and those that aren’t. Best not to worry about it and just go to another insurer.

  4. To alter sound settings turn your radio on. When you have the radio station displayed on screen- On the rights side of the screen you will see 3 dots. Touch them and your sound settings appear and you can set them to suit. hope this helps

  6. Severe damage to my UX tailgate after rear shunt necessitated a replacement rear view camera. Four weeks in local body shop with faultless repair carried out with the exception of the new camera failing to display the yellow/blue guide lines. Subcontractors used by repair shop, who do all their techie work, attempted on three occasions to resolve and failed every time and on 2nd attempt drained my 12 volt battery decided on a fourth attempt because the specialist tools were not available to them. Very frustrated I decided to take the matter into my own hands, did a Youtube search on “Disappearing guide lines rear view camera” and found a 3.5 minute video on the subject showing a 2019 Lexus ES with identical tracker pad etc as my UX (l also contacted Lexus dealership who quoted £150 to resolve) I followed the Youtube instructions and got it working within 5 minutes. I mention this because others my find the procedure helpful this would appear to be a “backdoor” approach to gain access to the menus structure should they need to anytime. It’s unbelievably simple to gain access. Process…Start the engine and whilst HOLDING down the MENU button next to tracker turn ON/OFF parking/headlights toggle 3 times (video says 4 times but 3 times aslo worked) Use service menu at your own risk.

  7. I cancelled the appointment with Lexus to have their dash cam as they told me it doesn’t have parking mode. They literally selling dash cam models 2020 in 2024. Found an independent in car technology ltd specialised in cams and things like that to install Nextbase new model that has intelligent parking mode.

  11. Correct, why the LS400 didn’t suffer the same issue is open for debate. I have never owned a LS430 so can’t comment on why LS430’s suffered from it. Maybe it’s down to the make/type of radiator or where the connections to the radiator are located.

  13. Our NX screen coating was gradually damaged when the car was valeted (I no longer let anyone else clean the interior of our cars other then the dealer vacuum at servicing). By the time I realised it was happening it was too late (it started lifting at the edges). The anti glare is very susceptible to common interior car cleaning materials. I believe there was an admitted fault on some IS screens but that may have only been in the USA. When it happened on our NX I complained and got nowhere. So I just went to the valeter, asked what he used, bought some myself and used that on a micro fibre cloth to remove the rest of the coating. Took a while but it all came off. And once it was completely removed I could not notice a difference between when the coating was undamaged versus completely removed. As long as the underlying screen surface is not damaged you should be ok. IIRC the product was Frogchem silicone gloss. Hope that helps. Cheers, Paul

  14. Hi all. I thought I'd link up & see how healthy the U.K scene is for these scarce motors. I've had my '12 for 5yrs now(seems like 2!) & its staying for many more years I hope. Its a red with matt blk TE's in 18 x 9.5 all round, full H&S system, antigravity battery, hi flow filter element etc. A few tweaks which make it a much nicer drive. Its a shame the low No's of these cars make everything hard to access partswise but the fact you will be lucky to see another compensates. Will be going PPE headers & intake but will have a word with my MOT man & check how much emissions will get bumped up by going catless.

  15. Oil and filter - done Fit new drivers door check assembly - done with new pin. Door card and speaker removed to do the job. Plastic at the body end was broken, pin was cut down so someone has been there before. The inner core is metal so door wouldn’t fly away. Washer level sensor started working again so left that for another time, truth is I forgot to do it when the wheel was off to check the suspension😀 Check all front suspension - done. Can’t find anything loose or worn. The biggy and most important...........................check if the transmission fluid cooler is built into the radiator or is separate and take pictures - done. Trans fluid cooler is built into the radiator. Pic below, sorry about the rusty bits with paint coming off. This will be rectified as soon as possible.

  18. What a surprise; call from dealer yesterday cancelling appointment to fit protection plate. Reason- they don’t exist unless you have an RX or NX. Add in the fact that the Lexus + app has not worked properly since about October 23 and my conclusion is that Lexus just do not care.

  19. Oh aye, when every other car has a number plate made up to spell their name and people interfere with performance chips, I don’t think reducing the volume of the woo woo maker is going to attract the attention of the flying squad. 20,000 new cops on the street my left foot.

  20. Sounds like the tyres hopping/skipping. Quite normal and nothing to worry about. With lots of steering lock applied, the front wheels on these cars are in a positively cambered state, and effectively only using the outside edge of the tyre. Almost like the car is tiptoeing. Cold tyres are typically not yet pliable enough to cope and tend to hop & skip when performing a full-lock manoeuvre. This is more likely to happen with "sporty" tyres which have square-ish tread blocks on the edge. I think having larger wheels also exacerbates the issue as I suffered this a lot when I had 19" wheels.

  21. But the 1994 Celsior C-F spec I had did have a screen, OK it was really bad but never the less had one. Other extras include A fender pole, a windscreen washer rinse reservoir, a flare tube, a sat nav that constantly tries to take you to Tokyo and wool seats that bleat when you sit on them

  22. I have found that if I turn the volume down low WhatsApp works as expected, not sure if this points to Apple or Lexus. Mine worked initially when I got the car but started having troubles after a IOS upgrade. I thought that it was apple but now not sure where the problem lies.

  24. Hi both and thank your your replies. Part of what got me posting the question was that I got a flat last weekend, likely due to a pothole, the structure of tyre was damaged on the inside also I was hearing a mild rub/knock like sound on reversing out of the uphill drive/sometime on full lock when its cold outside, it last milliseconds. Tyre wear is even and I cant see anything under the arches where it mightve been catching. I read a few other posts on the forum with similar. I guess Im just really overly paranoid after the last lemon I had. I havent heard it since I inflated all to 40 Psi (reversed out repeatedly trying to reproduce the noise) so am hoping it was because all the pressures were vastly different (some low 30s, one 44 prior to me getting a home inflator the other day, I literally couldnt tell the pressure was so different whilst driving it but obvoiusly not going to help) I will keep my ears open and keep a check on tyre pressure. I did fall out with cars due my last one, but I think Im falling for her. 🙂 Such a nice drive (even with random tyre pressures!). I dont know how Lexus managed to make such modern looking cars/interiors on cars this old. Im hoping for some decent weather soon so I can take some pictures and post up. Once again thank you for replies.

  25. Hi all. First post! I've been asked by my Brother in law to help replace some LEDS on the motherboard of the instrument cluster on his RX300, 2004 model, as I am fairly good with normal soldering. I could do with a bit of advice though! Firstly, does anyone know which type of SMD LED's this cluster uses? I'm going to try and get one off and hunt for it, bit if someone already knows the exact type that would be great. Secondly, I really could do with testing the LED'S on the board without having to put it all back together and into the car. There is a set of 4 solder pads on the bottom right of the board (I'll attach an image) which shows what I can assume to be test pads? They are labelled VIN (which should be voltage IN) and the VOUT (which I assume is voltage out) and then TEST1 and TEST2. Does anyone know the correct way to use these? I do have a bench power supply so I can give them anything from 1volt to 24volts if need be.. although I'm expecting the voltage to be 12v, dropping to about 3v for the LED's. I'm hoping I'm not the first person to try and repair one of these, so any help would be fantastic. Thankyou in advance. 🙂

  26. Hi DrRobert, it does sound very much like the same noise that both myself and robpace had. The fix was a replacement fuel injector (see the thread below). Hope you get it sorted soon, like you I can't seem to work out how a software update will make any difference to oil pressure. But if it will then someone will put us right I'm sure. Bri

  27. Sounds the same. Is the sound there all the time or is it just there for 15 Seconds after Petrol Engine starts, then clears and then sounds ok ?

  28. Just a warning to all on the Lexus UK Forums. Opened my email this morning and had got two emails to say there was a reply to a post I had been replying to. I did open the email but luckily didn't open the link as I noticed it had come through at 2.31 am in the morning and it was from wizzy millions. So went straight to the forum , signed in and there were no replies. So please be careful forum members as you could not tell the difference just looking at the email listings, usually there is a dash or full stop in the Lexus owners club title but even the Icon was identical to past notifications. Hope no one else has had this happen. Neilj

  29. The emails were legitimate as there was a reply to a thread you were subscribed to. However, the reply itself was spam which was then removed once wizzy millions' account was marked as a spammer, hence you didn't see it. There were many threads affected by spam last night, two of which you must have been subscribed to.

  30. Actually had to T-cut this mark off a few times Drip from mirror Anyone sorted it out?
    1 point
  31. Initially I’d wipe it with a damp cloth and let it dry just to establish that the mark is on the dash material and not ‘within’ a previous surface product finish. If it is ‘in’ the dashboard plastic (which seems most likely but you may be lucky!) I’d say pretty much any matt finish plastic / rubber product. My personal favourite is Poorboys rubber and plastic but there are loads that do much the same job. Good luck!

  34. Personally I would just take it to the dealers and ask for a re-gas which should include checking for leaks. I would not expect it to cost any more than what they have quoted just for diagnostics.

  35. had this happen on my 2013 RX. Happened on the hottest September day in recent history, and I had a 150 mile trip!! Typical. Dropped it into the dealers and they said the aluminium pipes had corroded (yes ali can corrode) on the aircon unit. Fortunately for me it was under warranty still, so a new aircon unit was installed. I understand there wasn't much change from £2k.

  36. If you get a regas make sure they know it’s a hybrid that needs special oil ie ND11 and not PAG as used in normal cars. Otherwise can ruin the compressor which actually runs in the oil. Good luck

  37. GS series I, II and III have always been bad for this and if you are sensitive to it then it does become maddening. You will get people here who will tell you theirs doesn't rattle, but then when I've been in the same vehicle I can hear lots of little noises and pressing the trim panels will make it creak. The series IV is definitely much better but not silent. The IS III isn't quite as good but better than both the GS III and IS II in this regard.

  41. Not sure those things are what define a premium vehicle but they are really questions for Toyota/Lexus - I'm not aware of any Toyota/Lexus with an adjustable height floor
    1 point
  42. The thing I don’t get on what is a “premium” vehicle is no hooks in the boot for hanging shopping bags from and no height adjustable boot floor so it can be completely flat with no lip or set low to maximise boot space. These are really low cost additions and competitors, including VW etc., have both. Why?

  44. I have just collected a spare key and locking wheel bolts for my 5 month old RX450h+, at last! Also I was told that my car does not need anti-theft CANBUS protection plates fitted as this has been taken care of during manufacture. Let's hope the insurance companys take account of this.
