Wotcher all

just spent an enjoyable night going through a lot of past posts up to a year old or so, and saw one about averager ages of Lexus drivers.

It got me to thinking, I am now the proud owner of my first Lexus IS200 SE, aged 41.

Ten years back I was driving a 1990 Astra estate (2 kids under the age of 4 back then meant load space was vital). Ten years prior to that I was driving a 1982 Datsun Sunny.

What were you lot driving ten and twenty yrs back before moving up to what we all drive now?

Well I'm only a youngster(ish), I only passed my test 9 years ago when I was 17, my first car was a Renault Clio 1.2 which met a sticky end in a field on its roof, then a Skoda Fabia 1.4 which I drove until I could afford my IS200.

Some cracking replies there. I can see I am going to enjoy this club. I am also on a motorbike list as well as a military one (past life). I find I am surrounded by experts whose brains I can pick to solve almost any problem. I reckon with the diversity that seems to exist here, this list will be no different!

12. Alfa JTD (fastest diesel ive ever driven)

Boy that took me back some years :D

I'll second that. I've driven the 156 2.4 JTD and it's a biblically fast car for a diesel. I'm a petrol advocate through and through but that car was something else. Another fast diesel is the Grande Punto 130bhp 1.9 JTD - that's a frighteningly quick (but crude) car too.

10 years ago I was 15 and had also a pushbike. My cars in ascending order (I used to drive company cars but these are just my private purchases)

1. Renault 5 (G reg) - loved that car - sobbed for days when it finally died!

2. Fiat Punto 1.2 SX (R reg) - also loved this car

3. Peugeot 307 1.6 Rapier (02 reg) (aka the big blue slug) - my favourite of all my cars - haven't really been happy since I swapped it

4. Nissan Micra 1.0 (Y reg) - had at the same time as the Peugeot - a car so bad it was almost likeable!

5. Toyota Celica 1.8 VVTI (05 reg) - fantastic car, handled like a dream but whilst I admired it, it was never a love affair like some of the others

6. Lexus IS200 (05 reg) (aka another big blue slug) - same as above I guess, it's a fantastic car but it's no Peuegot 307. I sense we won't be together long!

That's the history of my cars, all won my head but my 307 won my heart. Aww!
