  1. I wonder if they had their best year ever in the UK due to the amount of stolen cars being replaced 😀

  2. Had the car nearly two years now and here's the list of issues................... NONE 90,000 miles, no advisories on last MOT, next MOT is due soon. Full service history. Only money spent was new front grille and new back brakes plus an oil and filter service. A slight intermittent issue is that on a very rare occasion the car stalls when its cold, usually when turning out of the works car park. Not going further with this as its so rare. One other minor issue which did cost me a new battery. Moved the car off the drive without letting the engine continue running. The car would not start the next day. Eventually it did. This is an issue that happens with other cars too, so now i don't do that. Plan on keeping the car until something goes seriously expensively wrong, hope that's a long way off, touch wood. Find the car very reliable and to be honest, quite cheap to run. Fast enough for me, a pleasant commute 20 miles a day. No rust apart from the front anti roll bar, that was sorted out. Still feels like a new car to drive. Sometimes see cheap lease deals but then think what's the point

  3. There was a time before land lines for poor people. I am talking about pigeons. I once tried to bribe Santa to get a bike by tying a kit kat to the leg of one of my father's pigeons and sending it off to the North Pole. We never saw the bird, or kit kat again and needless to say no bike just a belt. I have never trusted men with beards since.

  4. Whoopee! We now have two keys and locking wheel bolts. We have had to synchronise the new key to the Lexus Link + app and account as otherwise it identifies the user as "Guest" and you won't get the journey data etc saved. We get the "second key registered" pop-up so we will see if this disappears soon as mentioned. We also get the big blue screen asking us to agree to T&Cs but this may also disappear now that everything is registered.

  5. Thanks. The drive back for me and the car was relaxing, but the weather was terrible and my wife and daughter were following in the RX400h (she's not comfortable driving on UK's busy roads for long distances) so they were both slightly traumatised by the journey but me and the SC got on great 😃 The colour is Mica Grey metallic which was a new colour introduced in 2006.

  6. Just had the CT (MOT) done this morning, passed with flying colours and doesn't need doing again for 2 years. Sorted out the French Insurance, paid the import taxes, got the CT now just the grey card to do and get the French number plates. Agree that France is a lovely country its just the French that's a problem, as mentioned getting anything done for a reasonable price is nigh on impossible and the paperwork is relentless. I left the UK in 2004 and only go back to visit family (and pick up cars, buy cheddar cheese and HP sauce, it's a Lancashire thing), currently residing in Brittany.

  8. Roll on 30th March I will take delivery of a new Lexus LC500 Convertible ULTIMATE EDITION at Lexus Swindon attended by Lexus CEO Chris Hayes. There are a total of 165 cars worldwide and only 4 Convertibles for the UK market. This will be my third LÇC My question for the forum is "Do you think this will prove to be a good Investment?" Similar to the LFA.

  9. First owner 21 years , 2nd owner 10 months . could be a very genuine car, give it a good check over that everything works. headlamps a little discoloured but not bad , drivers seat cracked and worn but can be treated with leather dye cheaply. Rear boot roller blind has a bit hanging off it on the left, check underside for mould . front grill should be chrome and silver but it’s been painted Matt black , inspect behind for damage . use all those things to haggle..you might get it cheaper 👍🏻

  10. Looks clean and tidy , no mention of corrosion on the mot history . observations ….rear headrests have been bleached in the sun (discouloured), roof latch trim not fitted correctly, so could of had a windscreen at some point . I bought my first Black car two years back, was told it would be difficult to keep clean…no different than any dark coloured car . Go look just as a tyre kicking exercise…yet it might be right for you 👍🏻👍🏻

  11. Might also be advisable to have your 4 wheel alignment/geometry done too, just for peace of mind as your rear tyres wouldn't wear on the inside for no apparent reason

  12. Oh the things kids do. The poor pigeon probably died of gangrene as the kit kat rotted off its leg. Never heard of that one - a real rip-off. I remember when we moved house and rang Virgin to set up broadband at our new address. It's not available at this address they said. You will have to get another provider, and by the way you must pay £36 disconnection fee. What!!! They disconnected me, so why should I pay.🤬

  13. The EV range is the same as last couple of chargers at 47.5, but with A/C the range is dropping off a bit and down to 41.3

  14. I doubt you'll miss the landline. Due to the fact that I worked in the mobile industry I haven't used a landline in over 20 years. Like some others I'm with Virgin, so have a landline included in the package, but have long since forgotten where the socket is. It just perversely works out cheaper to keep it. The only possible reason to maintain a landline is if you make a lot of international calls, to people who don't have any kind of wifi calling capability, as fixed line offerings for international calls are often a lot cheaper than mobile.

  15. ^^ Or good broadband if signal is patchy using wi-fi calling… ^^ I tell youngsters that when I was growing up, lots of areas were yet to have ‘direct dial.’ Family in London we could call direct, but those in more rural areas we still had to pick up the receiver, tap the buttons to connect to an operator, and ask for a line to the location before dialling the three or four digit number. Good times…and yes, I do miss them regardless of how much simpler technology makes things. Somehow speaking to the operator was more civilised…

  16. Have a look at the video below, it shows updated arms with extra bracing. Around half way through the video is where the guy shows the differences iirc. It is for a LS460 but may apply to yours as well and there are 3 parts to it (this is part 3) https://youtu.be/sgwstvV76Es?si=05urMjkhnSW6_wcM

  17. Forever had that BT landline since my parents on New Cross 0728 back in the 1950’s just hanging on in there with the last gasp of my landline as the people I called in Australia only had a landline …… they’ve “ passed “ I never answer the landline now, it was only ever scam calls recent times …… but it’s there till my contract expires later this year when it will get dumped …… I don’t pay for the landline UNLESS I make any non-existent calls to anywhere relying on our mobiles is fine….. they seem to cover all and any eventuality ALWAYS Strange tho’ My business office in Delhi has several UK landline 020…. Numbers that’s free for UK callers to contact …… but I pay Acefone monthly whatever, my Delhi provider …… Until my UK contracts expire later this year ( I think ) I’m with TalkTalk for home Wi-Fi and. 3.for iPhone mobile calls etc Zen has popped up here and I’ll investigate that at the time ….. it’s not available all over the uk tho’ Cruises, Ambassador anyway now use the Musk Starlink facility and I’ll hope that’s better than the crappy Wi-Fi cruises used to have and charge a fortune for SYNOPSIS for you: Dump your landline and provider PROVIDED you have a great mobile signal of course Good luck Malc

  18. Well. Took car to my rust prevention man and we got it up on his lift. He broke the news to me. "There is nothing I can do". The underside is that good!!! "Bring it back in 5 years maybe". Couple of tiny places that I can treat myself. He was also impressed that no garage monkeys have ever crushed the jacking point seams. Happy days.

  19. I moved into a new build property in 2021, and they don’t fit landline sockets or wire for the landline network any more. I thought I’d miss it, but with fibre broadband and unlimited mobile calls (connected via wi-fi calling when at home) I don’t miss the landline at all!

  20. I also use the YokohamasT215/45/17TOY tyres on my CT200H. I have just renewed my front tyres as I picked up a puncture. They were still legal but they had been on the car for three years and had covered just under 30,000 miles which, given the state of UK roads, I thought was very good. The rear tyre I replaced last summer had covered nearly 40,000 miles since I purchased the car, and may well have covered a lot more before it came into my possession.

  23. One just has to wait until Openreach run Fibre direct to the property ( as opposed to an intermediate copper twisted pair connection ). Then the world is your lobster - up to Gigabit speeds at a price. Openreach have a plan for future builds on their website --

  24. I have just edited my response as Toyota specifically stated that it is only the PHEV that is currently not susceptible. Toyota won't make any definitive statement regarding which cars (manufacturing date) are in which category, but I do know that earlier (2020/2022) RAV4 PHEV's have had the plates fitted.

  25. All such requests go via Lexus servers so the proximity of the phone to the car should be immaterial. My remote climate has been working most times lately though sometimes the climate starts normally well before I get the confirmation. When I have had failures, sometimes clearing the app storage cache (NOT the data) and force stopping the app will sort it, but not always.

  26. Over on the RAV4 forum an owner of a 2024 PHEV vehicle emailed Toyota CS asking for the protection plates to be installed before he took delivery. Their response was that his vehicle does not need them because his PHEV has a different electrical architecture to the HEV and is not susceptible to the current spate of such attacks. As far as the NX 450h is concerned it should be the same situation, what we don't know, is from what manufacturing date this would apply.

  27. We moved over from BT to Virgin media and rook the broadband optoon about 1 year ago, we th the landlines. Quite a few of our elderly relatives have mobile phones so no concern there. Just problematic regarding the NHS. They take forever making the changes you have asked for. The good news, no constant harassing nuisance calls! It'd a big change and everyone has their own way. Good luck.

  30. Yes it's a snip of one of the images for the Silver Morecambe car. The warning lights add up to something like an ABS or wheel speed sensor fault so Bob is guessing it needs new rear ABS (reluctor) rings.

  31. Whilst cold leather seats in the morning aren’t ideal, it’s much more about clear windows for me. Bit OCD about it. I like full clear viz all around before I pull off the driveway, and running the car for a few mins first achieves that. My bonfire’s still good tho’, no worries !

  32. Update from dealer, the 2021 NX300h only has limited functionality with the Link+ app. Namely, service history and car location. Trip data and fuel stats not possible. Sounds like I was following the right process, just the car does not support everything.

  37. I've just had the front lower control arms replace on my 2006 LS460 at 100K miles ( I believe these are the same arms on the LS600). It took quite a bit of research to find the correct part numbers, but this is what I found. Mine are these https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-ls-phase-4-o-s-f-lower-rearward-suspension-arm/ https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-ls-phase-4-n-s-f-lower-rearward-suspension-arm/ After 2010 they are these; https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-ls-phase-4-n-s-front-lower-arm-no-1/ https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-ls-phase-4-o-s-front-lower-arm-no-1/ So yes, the design was revised. I couldn't tell you if they're an improvement though!

  38. If you want to know a bit more about what might be near you then this web site is good - I use it at work a lot to suss out options for my clients. UK Broadband Map - scroll to bottom enter your post code and then tick the boxes in the right hand panel This will give you some idea of whether you can get fast fibre. If you tick the 'Speed Test Results' box then it will pop up speeds of people near you and sometimes who their provider is, which might help. There are over 100 Alt-Net providers in the UK so it can be a faff if you have options in your local area So although the map will show you an Alt-net provider it is not possible to ask the web site just to tell you who that alt-net is.

  40. Perhaps some context is needed. One stolen LC out of circa 520 or in percentage terms 0.19%, hardly a commonly stolen car. With the insatiable demand for SUV's or their ilk, then the LC is unlikely to be at the top of the shopping list and I'd further suspect the one stolen was something of an aberration.

  41. The mobile route is usually the most accurate and usually free. Whack it up on the car screen with whichever connecting system you require, job done. Google Maps OK, Apple Maps rubbish in my previous experience in London, could find a pub that was right behind me and I was very thirsty!) But my preference is Waze with all the "safety" camera info, and more accurate GPS based speedo.

  42. There are already some countries in Europe that pay a lot less than us in the UK so there is definitely some margin to offer price reductions and discounts but it would need sales to slow first and Lexus just posted their best ever year in the UK so I don't think so just yet.
    1 point
  43. The saving grace for LC is that they are simply not in demand to be stolen. The hot on the list are SUVs, that is what everyone wants, the parts are in demand, the cars are in demand for exporting etc. LC is just not that car that is on the radar, it is way to rare to for somebody to try to "legitimise" it locally, it is way to rare that somebody would try to rebuild/re-VIN a wreck, it is too expensive and not suitable for driving in Africa. So although technically it may be prone to CANBUS attack, it is simply not the type of car thief target. I would be highly worried about RX and NX, I have seen few ES stolen (really surprises me as to why ES?!), but LC just not the type of car.

  48. Hi Jason, I have a 2008 GS450H that I bought from a private seller 2 years ago. My suggestion is to check the shock absorbers, the exhaust system and the discs and pads. I had to fix all these in mine last year and only the exhaust was repaired and partially replaced by a specialized garage. The rest was done by the local Lexus dealer for a lot of money. I know I could have probably saved a lot of money by searching for spare parts on my own, but due to lack of knowledge and for peace of mind I preferred to go to Lexus.
