  2. @Big Rat Hope so matey. Could have been alot worse as I tend to let the isf rip while overtaking to make sure the maneuver is completed as quickly and safely as possible

  3. 369 days from delivery and just 7500 miles later my RC had it's first service today. All went as expected, no issues, hybrid health checked ok. Dealer was superb, very accommodating, right up to when I requested their LC500 as my courtesy car No amount of cajoling would change their mind. So away I went in a brand new CT200h... If it didn't have a Lexus badge on it I would never have equated the two .. I'm sure the car fulfils a purpose but my word I found the car terrible. The ride was so hard I'm sure I've chipped a tooth. The seat was totally unsupportive, no amount of adjustment helped. What on earth is that gear selector all about? The engine sounded like a rolling tin , half filled with nuts and bolts. The throttle had no resistance behind it, not that it mattered really, there appeared to be no power either! The e-CVT clunked in and out of D, N and R. When the ICE cut in or out there was a hefty jolt. I had to double check the driver's window was closed properly the wind noise was so bad above 50mph. On returning the car I suggested a tech take it out for a drive. All perfectly 'normal' ... Getting back in my RC was like slipping on a nappa leather glove, so smooth, silent, comfortable. I really can't believe how different the two cars are.

  4. There's a crowd of four that I've seen a couple of times congregated in a 30 limit just outside my village. Up until a few years ago the limit was 40 there, it's not particularly built up, just a pub and a few roadside homes. These people need to get a life methinks !!

  7. Might be old news to folks but these camera vans are working in the dark now and will definitely see you before you see them. One might have nabbed me last night in the yaris. He was sitting at the end of a long straight in a 60 zone and I overtook someone doing 40 getting the mighty yaris up to probably around 65 to pass the car. Waiting on the nip now Be careful out there as a simple safe overtake might get you in bother especially the rate the isf can get upto speed.

  8. This is the problem, I can't remember the last time I seen any speed enforcement in 30 zones. Most of the roads up here are winding country roads with multiple tractors elderly driving slow with their nose glued to the windscreen and just some bad drivers. There are few places to safely overtake and where the safe places are ie big open straights they build a special layby and plonk these camera vans on them. The A90 Dundee to stonehaven dual carriageway has average cameras now because six people have died since 2014. The fact that there are very few flyovers a tractor/ truck and trailer can still pull out in front of you , sit in the central reservation with a trailer blocking both lanes while making sure it's clear to go from the other carriageway is completely ignored. Literally drives me nuts.

  9. Whilst stuck in traffic this morning I thought I’d while away the time admiring my cockpit. Although most of it appears beautiful and logically laid out it dawned on me that there are a few anomalies and also some strange decisions made. 1. Why do some switches have a light on them whilst others have the light in the dash? For example, the BSM switch lights up but the auto headlight shows in the dash binnacle. 2. There is also a light on the auto wipers but not on the headlamp control. This is odd because if the lights aren’t on you can’t tell their set to auto unless you crane your neck to look through the wheel. 3. Why is the Parking sensor switch hidden away in the armrest? I don’t like it on most of the time but when I find myself in a tight spot I find them useful and it would be much easier to hit a switch quickly if it were on the dash. 4. Why is the ‘hold’ button hidden away behind the steering wheel? On the centre console would make more sense. 5. Why are the HUD controls also carefully behind the steering wheel? 6. What is the point of the headlamp washer switch? It only works when the headlights are on and if the headlights are on and you use the windscreen washer they clean the headlights anyway! Don’t the designers ever sit in the car, let alone drive it, to test the functionality of the switches? Yes, I know, I really ought to get out more!

  10. Those should be exempt of speeding fines anyway? Are they not? On the serious note.. If there is law it should be enforced be visible, marked cars, signs and officers, with proper equipment and transparently. It don't go much lower than being in un-marked van hiding in the bush at night... such police officers/forces should be publicly punished by ...... and left to .... for future reference.

  15. From the research I did, the radar detectors are pretty much useless, so wouldn't buy one for that sole purpose. I find it useful as the speed is visible without looking down at the speedo and displays the speed on the road I'm travelling on. I have a road angel gem plus.

  18. To answer your first question 1. To give you something to think about in traffic jams 2. TIP -I can tell my lights are set to auto as they switch on without me doing anything. I visually check by looking out of the windscreen when its dark. 3. So you dont deactivate it accidentaly? 4. Hold button? 5. A hud would bug me so dont have it 6. Wow how bored were you? And actually you need to stay in more then you wont worry about your switches! The one thing about the GS that niggles me is, when you get in the car and need to reverse, the camera comes on but your view is obscured by messages dropping down from the top of the screen telling you the phone\portable player have connected. My favourite button is the slfow button.

  19. You certainly need to keep an eye on the speedo when overtaking in an ISF. I find myself using the cruise control more frequently on longer journeys and a road angel to display my current speed and the speed limit on the road I'm travelling on.

  24. My first IS250 was Sable. I'm pretty sure on the V5 the colour was listed as grey, which I didn't think was entirely accurate. Definitely more accurate than silver though!

  25. http://www.toyotareference.com/lexusis/2006-2015 Worth checking out the colour code for your vehicle from the body plate and comparing it to the north american colour names. Seems they are all the same colour pallet but differ from market to market by name only, still share the same i.d code though. Mine is Mesa Red in the uk and Matador red mica in other markets! V5 states Mesa RED for my car.
