  1. At the half term break just gone, the family and I went up to Skye. We were so very lucky with the weather and the midges were not so bad. 3 bikes on the back (plus one in the boot!), picture is the Glenelg to Skye ferry, a very romantic way on to the Isle. Over 1000 miles with the rack and bikes and it felt very solid, so I can really recommend the Saris. My LS never missed a beat and I averaged about 26mpg. Car photo is at the house where we stayed in an area called Waternish, the house being in Loch Bay. It is a beautiful place and our fourth time there but never with such great weather. Didn't see another LS all the way there or back but amazingly a 400 overtook me just outside of Dunvegan. Love my LS.

  3. I imagine if it was sold with 2 and 3 litre diesels and the 2.0t and 3.5 petrol engines with the 8spd auto it would have done a lot better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. In the 16 days I've owned my car I've averaged over 35mpg in 907 miles according to my phone app. This is measured tankful to tankful. This is my 3rd lexus since October 2016 so I'm used to driving hybrid. My 2015 gs300h averaged over 44mpg over 27000 miles. Driving a hybrid is totally different to a conventional car. Watch the Lexus YouTube video that will help.

  6. Don't use manual EV mode, it is really just for moving your vehicle on/off your driveway etc. The ICE will always fire up quickly, especially when cold. The trick is getting better economy is to get up to speed, say 40 mph, lift off the throttle so the car switches to EV mode and then lightly press the throttle to maintain speed without needing the ICE to restart.

  7. Plug in Prius exists. That battery I bet will see it’s way into a Camry and Lexus at some stage. Me, I’m a dinosaur I just want petrol powered rwd saloons with a nice north south mounted engine and reliability inbuilt Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  11. @Stuno1 Stu I agree with you the ‘F’ Blue is the classic 1st choice and probably many on here would agree with us. And I did consider it....... But I am really fond of the ‘Brembo Yellow ‘ and have settled on that and matt black wheels. They are going to do one wheel and one calliper and forward me some pics just to make sure, I’m happy with the look first. Big Rat

  13. Interestingly this just came out: Quite relevant to the tread, first of all the comparing under-powered car, which is basically what IS300h is and the several different width of the tyres. Now obviously he uses 18" as a reference, but my take from the video and why I think it is relevant - is the balance. Square vs. Staggered and as you can see on dry that is what matters (that is what I said previously was an issue with RT2's). Goodyear Eagle f1 Asymmetric 3 is basically the same tyre as RT2, it is sister brand, it is same HP tyre, same ratings, same soft side walls (that is to make walls thin and light for better fuel economy). Anyway, my point was that key to your issue was lack of balance in high speed corners (just my opinion on the issue).

  14. Also, I’d be keen to hear how much they charge for caliper painting as it’s a very involved job. To do well they are removed, stripped and then painted before being reassembled.

  15. Hi mate, I opted for the copper grease. As you said, it’s better at preventing seizing. I just put a small amount on the valve making sure every groove on the thread was filled with it. Put caps on wiped away any excess, only a small amount. Jobs a gooden. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  16. I have just followed that link above to Amazon and watched the video for that boost jumper and it does indeed look like the dogs doo Dahh's and hopefully will get you ( and others you may find!) out of a flat battery predicament! Not an extortionate price either, about the same as a new car battery actually! paul m.

  19. Personally I would go blue callipers to tie it in to the f blue theme of the car. Definitely all dark wheels though. I can’t believe how much it changes them. I really don’t like them in srmtsndatd guise but dark I love them. I really don’t like the chrome badges, window trim or front grill smoke colour thing so they will all be going black as well.

  21. Hi just to inform you my windscreen was repaired by Auto Windshields and they replaced with the dealer glass as it was covered by the lexus insurance during the 3 day service. Lexus Nottingham had reimbursement the excess fee.

  22. I don’t think the OP is looking for advice on this subject, it’s a rant, and there doesn’t seem to be room for “The other persons viewpoint” I’m out of here. 😞

  23. main differences - steering response is much better, the car isnt rolling in the beds or corners, just feels tighter in general. Seems to have shaved years off the cars age. I would recommend others to get them changed too if that havent already done so, gives the car a totally different feel. havent tested the brake vibration yet as didnt take it on the motorway. The car is still at the garage, waiting for the radiator to arrive so that can be changed with the gearbox service and pipes.

  24. id say its an import. 1- on mot status co2 is showing as 0g, this only happens when you register a vehicle on DVLA as PLG (private or light goods) when you dont have a EU type approval certificate of conformity. 2- the advert says 2018 on the model which means this was registered with DVLA at that time, id say Jan 2018 as thats the date of registration on mot status. The way to plate a vehicle is to use a V55 form from the DVLA, I have bought some ex MOD cars before and they never issue me the number plate for them unless I provide them with a valid MOT certificate. This has to be done on the chassis number.

  26. @Stuno1 As regards the wheels question you posed Stu my car goes in tomorrow to Lexus Cheltenham for a major service and some personalisation, my wheels have been diamond cut once before so I want to preserve 'the one more cut ' for the future so I'm having them fully stripped and powder coated in a dark Anthracite with a slight satin sheen to the surface I didn't want a glossy finish. And the calipers are going from black to 'Brembo Yellow' I'll post up a thread with lots of pics when I get her back. 🐀

  27. The Mark 4 is twenty years old in November and I have just done a clean and refurb of the wheels as a birthday treat, see pics The wheel wells were scrubbed clean and sprayed with new underseal and the suspension hardware arms were coated with protective corrosion resistor, the static beams and fixings coated with a slight film of sprayed underseal ,this prevents atmospheric corrosion. The rest of the under floor is rust free as it was like new factory finish. I did the underside with Dinitrol 6 years ago when I bought the car and it was a good move as the area around the diff and above is still corrosion free.
