  2. Sooooo...... Best news ever, my baby son has been born today!! 7 weeks early and only 4.7lbs but he and mum are both doing fine and recovering well πŸ˜ƒ Which brings me onto the worst news ever, clearly I won’t be there this weekend now 😭 Have fun guys and bring me some photos back. I’ll let Lexus Derby know the score but somebody else will have to be lead driver! I’ll post a simplified step by step route plan later today that I finished off last night so you can all reference it tomorrow if you get lost!! Have fun!!!

  3. A few more, work necessities I had to leave early but a big thankyou to β€˜Dan the Dad’ Lexus Derby and all that turned out. A fragmented day but who cares we all found the pub and a cracking location to 😁 Im definitely coming up this way again the scenery is just breathtaking, combine this with the lakes would be ideal. 6. So after two incidents in a few days of my VSC light and EML/CEL on my IS250 SE-L I decided to investigate, it turns out I had a leak behind the downstream oxygen/lambda sensor this sensor monitors the performance of the catalyst it does not adjust mixture. Due to the ingress of air the sensor picked it up as the catalyst outside of thresholds . P0420 Catalyst system efficiency below threshold Bank 1 This is the right bank sitting in the drivers seat . Please note it does not matter wether you have LHD or RHD car the Bank1 is always to the right from the drivers seat . So I removed the broken clamp see pics and shield and found the culprit a crack exactly where the clamp had been , I cleaned the area after removing shield and treated to the Gun Gum exhaust paste a decent smear all around the pipe , then applied the split flexible repair kit , after tightening which forced out the sealer I spread it evenly over the tube it does look a lot neater than the pics show. I cleared the fault code down and started up very quiet and solid. I will remove this when I can and weld properly at a later date when a two post lift is available and refit the heat shield. This P0420 code was the only code it generated and seeing as the car has only done 83k miles the cats should be ok. I am confident this will last a reasonable time and will give me a breathing space until I can get on a car lift I did this on the floor using a jack and chassis stand .

  7. A pleasantly nice Top Gear review of the UX 250h. Nice to read as a Lexus sales exec. We are very excited about this car! https://www.topgear.com/car-reviews/lexus/ux

  8. Hey everyone who is on the Derby event today. Due to my awesome set of circumstances 🀩 I obviously can’t make it but that means my pre- booked room at the Premier Inn is now up for grabs. I opted for the cheaper but non refundable booking. let me know if anyone changes their mind and decides to overnight it and I’ll transfer the room to you! No point wasting that Hypnos mattress and bottomless breakfast!

  12. Warrington Guy has just confirmed they got lost!! Two weeks ago my wife thought it was ridiculous when I took delivery of four long-range 2 way radios; ”oh my god.... as if you’ll need those”!! Famous last words

  14. Cheers Farqui, I'll give him a shout. It does sound nice if it's silent in the car but with the radio on etc I'd just like her to sing a bit louder for me πŸ‘Œ

  17. Quick update. Paid for an hours access to the tech website Β£3. Found the location of the relays which are with the abs relays in a 5 inch relay box in the engine bay on the drivers side just below the brake reservoir. Used a smallish screwdriver to release the catch on the left hand side, relays are on the left. Removed the INT relay as they are plug in. Now that I know where they are I ordered two relays off eBay, albeit used, for Β£5. The relays came today so I removed the INT relay and fitted the replacement, I cleaned the contacts before fitting with fine emery and contact cleaner. Yesterday I tested the wipers and they didn't work except in fast mode, wetted the windscreen today and tried them and they worked normally put them in auto and again worked normally. Wipers parked correctly. So far so good I will now wait to see if the fix is permanent after a spell of use as they did work before for a while. if everything is ok it is an easy fix in about 10 minutes. I suppose the best thing to do is buy a new relay from Toyota now we have the part number. Hope this helps others with the same problem as it is a quick and cheap fix. I will post if it recurs in the coming days

  20. Hi Dan, that's a good looking car and I'm glad you are enjoying it. I know exactly what you mean about the stock exhaust. Mine was rotten so Tony Banks in Leeds made up a replacement that works well, is well made, has just enough of a note not to drone and didn't cost the earth. You tell him what you want and leave him to it for the afternoon/day. I've some pics in my build thread ;)

  21. You're very welcome. The M4 is an incredible car, as was my last motor, the TTRS, both at the top of their game, the noise of the 5 pot TT made me giggle every time I drove it. But your concern is very real, my TT just blended in with all the others, it never felt special. No one was ever standing there admiring it when I returned to the car park, only one person commented on the car in a whole year of ownership. One of my friends even asked if it was Jills car lol Maybe rent one for a week, see how you feel?

  22. Beautiful car Please don't chop it in for an M4 The M4 may be a better drivers car but don't forget the rarity of your RCF I'd love to stick a picture on here but sadly mine's not a carbon so doesn't qualify

  25. Good evening all I didn't think it would be this long until I posted again but work and renovating a house mean very little time for the Lex sadly 😫 The car has been filthy and I've hated it, I haven't even had the time to fit all the little bits I've bought for it, apart from the new number plates, I fitted these today. So I had a spare few hours to tickle the outside and fit my new naughty tinted raised gel number plates πŸ™ˆ And my new tinted, raised gel lettering number plates, I have these on every vehicle I have, got them on the van too, really freshens things up, they are naughty, and Mr plod probably wouldn't be too happy if they were bored and wanted something to do, but πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Some 'arty' ones Hoping to get a few more bits fitted over the weekend 😊

  26. I have just ordered this, see attached picture, for Β£200 from Lithuania. I have had stuff from them before and they have been fine, we will see. Should arrive next week. From pictures it seems quite straight forward to swop over the surround, so I will give it a go next week when I have a day to myself in case it is a bit more problematical than it appears. I will post the outcome soon after. Any comments still gratefully received, Regards David D

  27. That's great news Clive thanks for letting us all know. I wonder how much that would have cost at a stealer with double labour rates and changed parts that weren't really needed. I would imagine that the fuse blew as a result of the damage to the wiring causing a short circuit either between the 2 wires or the positive wire could have touched the body of the O2 sensor which is negative. It only takes a split second of contact to blow the fuse.

  28. If any garage offers you a "flush" you can pretty much prefix the term with the word "wallet".

  29. Stick to the new engine demand - since if they now decide they can fix it by changing something like the oil pump you have no idea what damage has already been done. What's the mileage on the car?
