  1. Each to his own, but I’ve never quite understood why anyone driving on public roads and not a racetrack should want to suffer poorly filtered ICE noises rather than bask in the barely audible purr that traditionally typifies most Lexus models regardless of their power source. The noises made by ICEs do not exist in Nature and, as such, are to be deemed alien to human ears, a principle well understood by Lexus engineers.

  3. Sure thing guys, here it goes! Tomorrow I have to order the summer tyres, the seat bolster for the kid and hopefully I can find a nice set of mats, the rubber ones I’ll use them in the winter 😃

  5. I've just switched to LV because they were £200 cheaper than my AA renewal (this had doubled!) I could have got a much cheaper deal but the excesses were over a grand! I did consider going for one of the cheaper deals and putting the difference in the bank each month to go towards the excess but life's too short sometimes.

  6. I belive sodium ion batteries are a lot safer too, close to lead acid, although as yet without the same capacity as lithium ion. Despite the interest in hydrogen, currently tens (if not hundreds) of billions is being invested worldwide in EVs and battery technology. Condensed matter batteries are being developed for aircraft, and sodium ion batteries are being developed as an alternative to lithium. The problem with EVs is largely around the batteries, and my guesss is that with the money being thrown at it, along with the potential application of things like AI, that faster development of battery technologies will emerge and resolve many of the issues. Just a layman's guess though.

  7. As I don’t have a life until my new car get here, I found an article about Toyota so here is what I think are the highlights . Dated earlier this year. “Delivery delays due to parts shortages are more serious for luxury cars that use many semiconductors. Lexus models use over 1,000, several hundred more than a typical Toyota car. There is a chip shortage for various applications including remote control keys for locking the vehicle and semiconductors for audio equipment.” And “Toyota has not disclosed the production volume of Lexus cars, but they are mainly made at domestic plants and the profit per vehicle is about 1.5 million yen. It is about twice as profitable as other Toyota brands such as the Corolla. The company will look to procure semiconductors under long-term contracts within the group to avoid further supply issues.” Here is the link if needed https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Automobiles/Toyota-limits-orders-for-Lexus-in-Japan-due-to-chip-shortage

  9. Hey guys, new family member here coming with a CT200h, purchased this week. Don't have any photos of it yet, but I'l go through a list of features: 2014 make year, white pearl, black leather heated seats, backup camera, navigation - fixed type. I believe that all other features are standard, I've seen them on all the cars I've checked before purchasing this one. I'm from Romania and the car has been imported from Austria. This is my wife's car, I drive an A6 C7 3.0bitdi, and the Toyota system is 100% new to me, I have absolutely no idea about anything, I just know that the 1.8vvti engine is very sturdy, CVT is a very comfortable gearbox, and went for Lexus as it offers all the comfort needed in a daily city commute. So, I'll start reading about it, maybe ask a question here or there, but so far, the car is lovely to drive. I may even consider replacing the Audi with something else from Lexus :D

  10. It's been a little quiet in here, and as the dismal weather seems to be here for the long run I expect most of us are not getting out to play! So, to brighten things up - share your favourite photos of your LC. 😎

  11. First serious journey with 270 km including 230 of motorways... The car and I are just getting used to it, so it's a case of "qui va piano va sano". The weather wasn't great but the traffic flowed smoothly so it was ideal for testing the adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, lane changing assistance...and the accuracy of the speedometer. Start with 4 passenger, trunk quite full (with its first plants). The battery is half charged and once on the A14 motorway I switch to hybrid mode to conserve energy for my final stretch of road. Driving behaviour: It steers a little less well than the Passat which was longer but all in all it makes up for it in urban driving. Not too big a gap in width and the higher stance helps. The steering is sufficiently consistent in normal mode and it's in keeping with the car's mass for me. No unnecessary effort but I feel the direct link to the wheels...in short a natural and pleasant feeling. There is a recovery, even if it is true that for an old DSG driver, the sensation is fundamentally different and even surprising. The take-off at the toll booth is a joy. No worries on the hilly and slightly turning part of the A13 Motorway (Paris --> Normandy), it drives at least as well as the Passat in "normal" mode A bit of road noise on average roads but no more than with my previous self-sealing tires . Driving aids Finally the HUD helps well and the logic is very similar to VAG's. I will soon get used to the ergonomics. However, the lane-keeping system coupled with the capacitive steering wheel and the lane change assistant is clearly a step above the Passat (which was already very good)... It's great on a motorway with light traffic The lane-change assist didn't surprise or bother me on a country road. Passenger feedback Very positive. Wife took advantage of it to sleep in the cool of the night Consumption: headwind , at 120 kph regulator (118 real), rain, 4 PAX, a small 6.5l per 100 and the end of battery on the last kilometers In one word : Delighted Currently charging, some points of progress noted: - a longer type 1 cable, the one delivered is nice but short (order a 12 m long model after block it will be more practical) - have the electrician connect the reinforced socket (he installed it and the secondary panel but did not connect anything...)

  12. Since October 22nd, 2022, All NX are delivered with only one key fob (and eventually with the credit card key). The second key FOB will be delivered later by the dealership. Timeframe of this delivery was pretty sketchy. LSFT YoTube channel delivers another great video on this topic. https://youtu.be/hJMEv0RBZNw Get ready for another waiting game !

  13. Hi all, Looking for members thoughts on an issue that has arisen with the my LC500h (17 plate) which I've owned for 12 months (select approved from Lexus dealership). I clean the car every 3 weeks or so and mid-April I noticed a small patch of blistered paint on the front offside wheel arch. Not easy to spot as it really only shows when the light catches it and you have to be right up close to it. We're talking roughly a 2cm x 1cm area. I was due a service within a fortnight and thought I'd get the local dealership to advise on the issue whilst it was in for a service. The local dealership advised that they thought it was an imperfect paint finish and suggested I refer it to the dealership where the car was originally purchased from an hour and half away. So I made an appointment and took the car up to them. They've looked at it and state that the blistering is caused by an external chip to the paintwork the size of a pinhead. See photos attached (red arrow is pointing to the suspected chip). The dealership is towing the party line - not covered under warranty etc. and don't seem to be particularly concerned and this doesn't really sit well with me. I've owned numerous luxury and non-luxury cars for varying lengths of time (2 years - 9 years) and I have never experienced such an issue before. Minor paintwork damage from surface stones is inevitable and Lexus must surely apply some anti-corrosion measures in the manufacture and finishing of their modern day vehicles to prevent such an occurrence? My father in law caught hold of a bollard leaving a car park in his Berlingo 3 years ago and the scratches are deep down to the metal. He's never had it fixed and I don't see any blistering occurring (photos attached).. I'd be interested in your thoughts and if anyone else has had a similar issue and how Lexus have handled it.

  15. Gang might be able to tell you but if it helps a friend of mine drives a Tesla model S since 2015. He was one of the first and got it because of big tax breaks if he would set it at his company. No road tax. Those cars had supercharging for life as well so free electricity. He is now at 275k km and no regular service needed. Things he replaced are tyres, 2 shocks, wishbones, wipers. So for cheap motoring only biking will beat it..

  18. Thanks Steve! I thought so too, locally I haven’t found any with this setup then all of a sudden this piece was imported and I was able to get it 🥰 I also ordered the tyres - Hankook Prime 4, they looked like quite good tyres on reviews.

  19. If it just happens on this specific stretch of road then there are TWO options 1. avoid that road and 2. put up with it until you're past that stretch of road .................. both very inexpensive options to my mind and then you won't have to trouble that tyre place again and keep your £££££ in YOUR own pocket 😉 Malc

  20. That’s interesting, Paul. I bought my Lexus from Lexus Milton Keynes - part of the same Group, in fact where they are actually based - and have had the same excellent experience over much the same period. If anything, I’m a disappointment to them. They keep trying to interest me In a new Lexus - but I’m very happy with the one I’ve got!

  22. Yes - when I select Bluetooth as the source, the MAIN i-phone connected is turned on and plays music automatically. Just turning the car on does not start the music on the phone. Hope this helps.

  23. I have to agree about the lack of service just now. Since Covid, service in most areas is absolutely shocking. Not unusual to spend an hour on the phone listening to "your call is important to us" 🙄 At least I can normally get through to my Lexus dealer 😀( even although the news is generally disappointing)

  25. My dealer, Lexus Twickenham / Currie Motors has been very responsive. Unexpectedly they seem to be dealing with a manufacturer who keeps them in the dark. I was contacted by Lexus for feedback on Friday unfortunately I was unable to talk to them. Hopefully they’ll call back this week when I have more time.

  26. I’ve experienced issues at low speeds in my hybrid when running only on electric power. It wasn’t duck murder in my case, but in car parks you have to be careful as people simply don’t hear you coming. On one occasion a jogger on the pavement (running in the same direction as I was travelling) simply ran across the road in front of me. I was only doing about 20-30mph and was aware of her. Fair to say it shocked her when she realised there was a huge RX behind her! I have become even more aware of these types of potential hazards, and as long as both drivers and pedestrians follow the accepted rules and take care we should all be ok. Wildlife on the other hand is a bit trickier…

  28. Thanks for replying. I’ve used them loads in the past. Replaced tyres on my ISF, RCF, C63 and just this week, my S3. I got the impression that as the last job of the day (1930), he wanted any excuse to exit. Within seconds of arriving he said “This is going to be the hardest job of the day”.. With that sort of attitude I wasn’t going suggest Google, YouTube or reading the manual.

  29. Judging by the report in this article in Fleet News, it would appear that the Lexus RX450 is the first Lexus to enter Tracker’s Top Ten list. So that might well account for it being regarded as now presenting an additional risk. https://www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/fleet-industry-news/2023/02/27/first-ever-hybrid-car-makes-tracker-s-top-ten-most-stolen-and-recovered This data from the DVLA probably didn’t help your case either. It shows that the Lexus RX 450 F Sport CVT was the most stolen plug-in last year, with 160 recorded thefts in 2022, compared to 70 in 2021 - an increase of 129 percent.

  30. Personally I wouldn't purchase unknown brand coilovers without reviews - Tein and other quality vendors put R&D into their products to make sure they perform and are suitable for the car they are being installed on. The ones you have purchased might to good though - let us know how you find the ride and handling once you have them installed.

  33. I like it. Did you know on these 5 slat grilles the Lexus badge is removable as it is only held on by one screw so you also have the option to easily take it off for a cleaner look if you wish. On the later models with the 6 slat grilles it is all part of the moulding of the grille so can’t be removed.

  34. I think Mark has already explained that. While it may well be the case that if your car’s stolen and stripped out for parts, then you may well be better off settling the insurance claim than getting a damaged car back. But Mark has already invested a great deal of time, money and anticipation in this specific model and clearly believes that the problem of finding - and waiting - for a replacement is not acceptable. So I quite understand that a comparatively small sum spent to expedite its possible recovery is preferable. After all, the Tracker companies have many case studies in which cars have been traced before the thieves have even had time to work on them.

  35. Totally Agree Chris.. Better spending your Money on Preventative Measures.. Many Years ago chris i had a Car stolen.. When it was eventually recovered What a mess it was in..The B******S who stole it Ripped everything of value out of it Even removed the offside wheels and broke the steering column.. After that i couldnt get rid of it quick enough..Maybe that was just me but although i had spent a lot of money sorting it The car just was,nt, the same If you know what i Mean... Following that experience i rely on Croccy My pet crocodile who circles the car at night..Failing all else i just get my Good lady To sleep in The car.. Even Croccy won,t come near... GRRRRRR.. PS.. Croccy is Thatcham Approved......

  37. You are right. I was wrong. Or? Maybe not. Your way of calculating is first class, but you forgot one very important factor: Human greed. The owner of the parking house is calculating that he has 600 places costing a lot of money each, so he may not be happy suddenly to have only 400 costing only 2/3. 1980 prices are useless today. The question can be asked in another way: When will we accept less profit? Answer: Never.

  38. So legally you should have cover for any major defects for 6-months, take it back to the dealer to fix or refund, don't throw money at it. Go to your local Citizens Advice or Trading Standards if the dealer does not play ball.

  39. Nope Right now ours is showing its exact location right down to the correct house number Sometimes though it can be 40 miles out because the whole connection system in the car software is a pile of junk.
    1 point
  40. Strava hides the start and end location by about 50m but I don't believe it is the case with Lexus. My location is invariably within a few metres. The address is wrong but that's just because of the way my drive and the surrounding estate are laid out. If your location is always out by a similar amount in a similar direction, try recentring it as follows: Go into Settings (in the car) and select 'Navigation', 'Other' and then 'Position/Direction'; does it show the position of your car accurately? If not you can move the map so that the correct position is shown (Press okay) and then do the same for Direction. Having reset the car's position, it would be interesting to know if your car then starts reporting the correct location more reliably.

  45. as in the present and past methinks ............... LPG was and still is an ideal for many ........ Hybrids and Petrol and Diesels and now just EVs and shortly to be Hydrogen powered cars and trucks and buses ........ there is of course just most of the world's terrain where rugged vehicles will be the " norm " and diesel and petrol will remain to the fore . whatever the Conspirators might be thinking and the Green Brigade might be wishing for . ............ the world unleashed on motor transport some aeons back and horse and mule conveyancing really is, in most parts, a thing of the past BUT . if you ever go to Delhi you will see, amongst the norm of utter chaos and traffic congestion, the occasional elephant, camel, horse and mule transport ...... let alone the runners physically moving people in their cycle people carriers and with whole family's aboard their motorbike whatever ..... that's the reality of transport today and tomorrow too I'll wager ... it's called Life 🤩 And the majority of the world's Peoples really don't care a monkey's about Conspirators and Green Brigade .. they've got lives to live and get by with !
