  1. Just wanted to let everyone know my car has arrived, it has been converted and passed its MOT so we are now just waiting on registration. It's had a full service etc. Also and will be getting lanoguard undersealing. IMG_6429.HEIC IMG_6432.HEIC IMG_6437.HEIC IMG_6434.HEIC IMG_6438.HEIC

  5. Ha, ha Alan. I got a communication late last year to say my finance agreement was "nearing the end" when in fact it had 15 months to run. Queried this with the dealer and it appears its all down to the delivery timescales albeit they are much improved. They said that I would be invited to their VIP event weekend and in fact I am going tomorrow. They have an NX450H f-sport en-route at present and have given me an option on it. Gut feeling is that it's just a bit early for me to change but never say never- if the deal is beyond amazing I may be tempted! Alternatively and like you I may look to order early for delivery later in the year and if so will consider a Takumi.

  6. I suspect a mechanic might put it on a hoist and then jack up the chassis so that the suspension is no longer loaded. - which might reveal any source of movement or wear. Next time I'm off work I'll pop round to my mechanic and let him look . Thanks

  7. I only went for the sport because the colour I wanted was the fsport exclusive. having tried the extra takumi as a courtesy car I would probably go for that myself next time as the seats are far comfier than in the sport

  9. Some more modifications done. Managed to find some super rare (especially in UK) 19" Forged F-Sport wheels. Also had to get specific wheel nuts to fit them. Be rude not to get OEM ones, managed to find a new set from a Lexus dealer in USA.

  10. I did it for my 450h. Got a key from ebay £40. Sent it away to get it wiped clean £20. Reprogrammed myself using Techstream £60 software. Still not cheap to DIY it.

  11. Of course your description of the people and their comments overrides your findings. You are right and they are wrong attitude. There are also paranoid trolls that claim being anonymous is necessary for their own safety despite the fact that they’ll come on here to make disparaging comments instead of not commenting at all. It says a lot. I’ve not had any problems with my terrible UX although there are things I’d improve in a hypothetical makeover. There’s a big difference between a car being faulty and finding you don’t like it but there’s no drama in that.

  12. Methinks almost all and any Ls400s now are well maintained and well, sort of " loved " Keeping a 25 years PLUS young car on the road must entail a certain amount of tangible endearment ............ and strangely, with the Ls400, not a huge amount of unnecessary expense compared to other marques ..........😇 Malc

  13. It will stay this way until we, the punters, say no. If we stop accepting their crap offers and refuse the deal things would change in a heartbeat. Sadly like everything else in the UK we just roll-over and let things slide.

  14. I swapped out my standard halogen for Osrams and it did make a significant difference. After one failed I then swapped them out for a Japanese brand with a higher lumen than the OSRAM…. and they were hopeless. My other half refused to drive it on rainy nights. So I then decided to try an LED swap out… going for the Auxiracer off Amazon. Wasn’t that scientific of a choice…. They were cheap at £20 something pounds, plug in and play…no wiring or modifications and I wanted to get a feel ( literally) for any heat issues. They have proved to be absolutely fine with a much improved beam distance etc. Passed my MOT last week ( no advisories 👍) nothing mentioned.

  15. I rarely have cause to lower the driver’s window, so when I did so a couple of days ago the accompanying squealing was a bit of a shock! OK…so not the worst automotive challenge, but still a pain. First thought - grime on the rubber seals across the top of the door. So a vigorous rubbing with a microfibre cloth resulted in …no change at all! So it was down to Screwfix and hand over £7.59 for a can of WD40 Silicon spray. Back home, I prepare the can to spray down the window guides and press the button to lower the window. It glides down with but a whisper! It closes just as silently! Apparently just the mere presence of a can of WD40 Silicon has scared the squeal out of it. But I give the rubber guides a couple of shots anyway. So, was it a delayed response to cleaning the top of the window? Or an instance of a Lexus eerily sensing the presence of the WD40 Silicon? Who knows? Who cares? Either way, I now have a lifetime’s supply of the stuff in the shed.

  20. They got me where I am today ... devoid of savings 🤔 Did you like my 1950's Humber Pig APC with full Northen Ireland mods? £80 a year to insure, MOT and road tax exempt but 4 mpg as its over 7 tons. All this is why me looking for an LS600 is me actually trying to be reasonably sensible.

  24. I believe that some owners in Europe and North America have received an OTA software update for the Infotainment system. Nothing for my car yet though. From what I gather, it's not a major upgrade. A YouTuber in Canada posted the following:-

  25. It’s amazing. It drives so smooth and handles sharp. It’s phenomenal to have an automatic car for the first time. It’s better on fuel than the Avensis. I did a lot of servicing stuff to it, it definitely seems a bit more crusty with rust underneath than the Avensis. But nothing structurally concerning. I think it just won’t last more than 15 years now haha it’s a little rougher paintwork wise too but not terrible. I love the car. I hope there’s a successor by the time mine is done because I never want to drive a non Hybrid Toyota or Lexus ever again for as long as I can!

  26. I looked at this in a detailed way when running an ES. The Lexus UK position is the gearbox oil is for the life of the car and never needs changing. The question is what is their definition of the life of the vehicle? 10 years, 15 years? What if you want to run for longer? In other countries they change the fluid around 50-60k miles which seems prudent and sensible. If the car is a keeper and manages to avoid being stolen changing the oil at 60k miles max seems a good idea. Independent specialists will do this job with the correct Toyota ATF.

  28. It will probably be underneath the dashboard, near the pedals. That's where it is on an IS250. You might have to remove some lower trim panel to access it.

  29. Ken, I'm sure you are living my life in parallel to me!!! 😁 I've been having a similar debate with myself today - I've had 2 emails from Lexus Leeds. One inviting me to have a meeting with their Retention Manager to look at how my PCP is going and the other inviting me to their Priority Access Event where they've got some bonus offers available!! (I don't know which is the 'take it with a pinch of salt' emoji) 🫢 I've been around the motor trade long enough to know they are just drumming up enquiries. Anyway, it did get me thinking. Like your car, mine is 2 years old on March 1st and whether it might be worth finding out how long it would take to build and deliver a new one these days as well as whether I could get a deal that would suit me. I won't be tempted by the F-Sport though - I remember test driving one when the first few cars were in the UK and being a gentlemen with quite a 'stocky' build (fat) !!! I found the bolsters on the seats too snug for me.

  30. Hi Ken, I’m in a F-Sport Prem Plus, previously in a Premium. Differences: Ride, lower profiles and larger rims has a marked affect on handling and urban driving. Feels very surefooted on more open roads of course.. economy is compromised though as a result of Rim/profiles. Big difference in seats too. Very firm but still comfortable. You feel very much planted.. I’m continuing to do long journeys and they’re still comfy but not to the same extent as the prem though. As you’d anticipate no discernible difference in actual performance, very similar. If anything the prem felt quicker.. but that’d be due to the slightly lower weight in the main I’m only 2months in but have already covered 2.8k. Winter too of course.. looks great though tbh… so I’ll cope with the reduced economy Pete

  33. Thank you Bob and Neil. I am very reassured by your analyses and will get those codes read asap. Your comments on the reluctor rings may be pertinent as I've recently noticed a hint of ABS "judder" on gentle braking just before stopping. The last thing I need at the moment is 'sympathetic' warning lights!!

  36. Second hand car prices are poor at the moment and can’t be compared with 2 years ago. I’d guess at £24k which sounds disappointing but it’s not the brand, it’s the market. You can manipulate the deal to sweeten it or wait a few months until the LBX is discounted. What was wrong with the terrible UX?

  39. I solved the issue with some simple WD-40! To maintain the effectiveness of lubrication over the long term, I purchased this SIlicone Lube, perfectly compatible with the trunk lift struts materials 🙂 2'500 EUR avoided from dealership!

  40. Nice Difficult to judge via photos, but mine has colour code 8P8 (Dark Blue Pearl, or Blue Onyx Metallic). I do like dark blue cars but have to admit I was hoping to find a decent one in the dark Purple (3P2, Black Cherry Pearl) when I was looking in 2018. The LS400 I followed for a couple of miles looked well maintained and loved.

  41. Haha "tin mice" made me laugh. Yep there is no danger if a leaky boot over here, there is little rust but all the rubber mounts etc detriorate in the summer heat. I also had a "GCC" spec condenser and radiator fitted. Most of the car washers over here use a duster and call it a "water less car wash"🤣

  42. Hi Andy, Google…. Lexus IS 250 Exhaust should give you plenty of options. My journey below…. Front section…. https://www.onlineautomotive.co.uk/car-parts/Lexus/IS250/2.5L/Petrol/Premium/Exhausts/Catalytic-Converters/LEX5005H/1/34?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD9ghT5R5Th_Qf-P-Qtl9WfnSWRz3&gclid=Cj0KCQiAzoeuBhDqARIsAMdH14EPA5iCzfUZgNIUCJmP_NHRNobRVTfPpqbPKhho6OL2hh2jb3M-MxIaAqPbEALw_wcB Rear section…….E-bay similar to this, fitting was very difficult to align properly. https://www.cats2u.co.uk/lexus/37133-lexus-is250-25-rear-exhaust-box-silencer-08-05-03-13-ety784.html?gclid=Cj0KCQiAzoeuBhDqARIsAMdH14Fg2Xw-l6dn2JqO_Ollp3ClMXfwH_APb9wJlo2oHofR6SXnWdQaBr8aAh4lEALw_wcB Custom made stainless section…..don’t be put off by the cherry bomb address. Jason and the team can fab anything you need. https://www.cherrybomb.co.uk ….and when you’ve mulled over all this stuff, you’ll start the debate of cost & sound etc of going full stainless. 😁 KEEP Your original tips they just knock off….. they’ll clean up and keep you OEM look if that’s what you want. Last time I looked they were £80/£90 each OEM to replace 🙄.

  46. *** Warning resurecting and old post! *** DAMN.....Looks like its my turn for this issue, i've scanned the car, tried all the initialisation procdures and all points to a fault with the actuator....In at Lexus in the next few weeks, I will let you know how I get on. I MIGHT, have a go at disassembeling the unit and rebuilding it....doesnt look a complicated component may just be a motor/bearing issue like the oil pump bearings in the MK3's.

  47. You should let us know how your cars MOT goes with your LED headlight bulb upgrade. As you say they Are illegal to use but also, as you say, the pattern of the light beam doesn't cause a 'blinding' effect. As for the 'standard' bulb being terrible I think that's harsh. I 'upgraded' to the Osram night-breakers on my beloved is250 and that I found was a very good upgrade and is a popular upgrade.
