Put a deposit down on this beauty today. Ive been reading through this and other forums for the past few weeks deciding whether to take the plunge, ive struggled to find any negative opinions from owners and after considering the usual alternatives (C63/M3 and XF-R) it almost seems the sensible choice (If a 5L V8 could ever be classed as sensible!). I'd be interested if anyone on here has any previous knowledge of this car? Few bits of info, 18k via Private seller, CK11OMG, 83k miles, white leather, Full history etc.. To be honest Silver wouldn't have been my first choice but after seeing the car in the flesh it looks really classy, the mileage was also a little bit higher than i would have ideally liked but its in tip top condition and i gather these cars wear miles well anyway, It felt really solid and drove great. It's also got 2 services left on a service pack so it seemed like a pretty decent deal for a later model car. It's going to eventually be a daily driver, replacing both my leased Citroen C1 commuter and my supercharged MX5 weekend car (owned 17 years!) which i never seem to get any time to use. Im hoping it will tick the boxes for me, the noise alone gave me goosebumps, what an engine! Would be great to come to some meets in the future, i should be picking it up in the next few days so ill post up a few new pic's when i do.4 points

Hi folks. Warrington Guy is right, I did own a mesa red one until June last year. I sold it to a guy from Kent. I've just been in touch with him and it's not my old car that's been written off. There were only 8 mesa red ones left in the country (so I'm told)...... only 7 now. :-(4 points

Whilst trying out some scaffold boards under my jack/stands at the weekend (gravel drive) I decided to clean up the OSR arch/suspension before slapping on a good coat of rust converter. I applied some to the tired rear disk bells earlier this year, didn't coat them with anything else and they've stayed nicely protected. I hope to get all of the undercarriage cleaned, treated and under sealed before too long. Anyhoo whilst I was rummaging around the OSR tail pipe I found that a heat shield fixing had corroded through. I managed to remove the nut and add a penny washer back only to find a second fixing had also failed but in a more awkward position on top of the rear box. This nut wouldn't budge but still had enough thread for me to add a spacer and washer which nipped up the heat shield properly. A bonus of this find/fix is that the rattle I thought was the rear parcel shelf/boot has now gone3 points

Have the engine bay a good clean the other day as it was dire. The pictures don't do it as much justice as I'd hoped but you can see there difference! (Last pic with a feature from 10mm socket [emoji23]) Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk2 points

I'm assuming that 61.885 is a typo? As you say, and as I understood it, the 2JZ-GE and 2JZ-GTE are the same, but if swapping bits about, you'd need to get the correct bearing based on the numbers on the block, crank and rods. Maybe the crank has been "worked" before and the bearings not replaced? If its still under the max tolerance, its probably ok, but I'm sure there are probably folk on one of the supra forums that might be more in the know.1 point

Ill be honest with you, Ive had all the RXs bar the 1st gen and Ive never bothered to put winter tyres on any of them. I find them quite stodgy and the feel of the car is altered. I've also never been stuck and I live in the hilliest area in England! If the RX was an RWD then yes, but its FWD with an effective snow mode and Ive never had any troubles. I ran All season tyres on my 3RX and they were better in the rain than OEM but then it could be that they're just better tyres. Its not the tyres that will save you, its the mushy thing between the ears - stick to main roads, grit your driveway etc etc and don't be stupid - goes a long way in the winter but many people lack a simple thing called common sense1 point

Bloody Hell - Frighten!! is the right word to those of us who are less mechanically minded. Last time I saw one of my cars looking like that, it was an Audi with a huge bill at the end of it. Surprisingly swift progress - certainly shows they know their stuff & great that they are documenting it so well for you. Keep us posted Pete & be great to start a thread on this.1 point

I'm not one of those parasites, I'm a realtor. I have just completed a set of oem wheels should you want to swap those lovely mesh, shiny, disc thingys 😉1 point

I bought my new GS300h Exec at the end of September 2016 and was able to get over 20% off the list price. Since it was the end of the quarter maybe the salesman wanted to make his quota? The Exec spec had all the options I wanted. I had expressed a preference for a particular colour, so they gave me another £610 off for taking the car they had in the showroom (zero miles). (That colour was Deep Blue, so quite acceptable to me). They also included a 'protection pack' - listed at £250 - at no extra cost. I used CarWow to get prices that other dealers would offer and simply asked my local Lexus dealer to match the best price - which they did, plus extra off for the colour and the protection pack was included for free. I was, and continue to be, very satisfied with my purchase. Tony1 point

Wow thanks for the extra info! The car wasn't formally advertised for sale, i found it on a thread on the PH forum and contacted the owner directly. I do love the wheels, saying that the other style i see on most IS-F's also look great. Ill do my best to make the meet on the 19th!1 point

me being a bit " old school " I rather like the unmolested touch Lexus spent billions designing these cars and for that reason alone they are near ( or really are ) perfect at inception and perform at optimum being unmolested I guess I am sure others on here with the Mk4 will have differing views and suggestions .............. best wishes with whatever you decide Malc1 point

Totally agree with Rich. Ran Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme S all year round on a 262bhp Touareg with no issues at all. Same with TS830Ps on a C-class. Either have two sets of wheels & tyres for summer and winter use or just use all season or winter all year round. It's far more sensible than using summers all year round. Here's some videos but they only show extreme conditions. Massive improvements in safety just when it's cold and wet with no snow or ice is the main reason I use them. The fact that they mean you can go anywhere in snow is just a nice to have. It's often cheaper to run separate winter and summer tyres than it is to use summer tyres all year round too, contrary to popular belief.1 point

Sorry to hear that Pete, but as Matt said hopefully it’s the only hiccup & at least caught it before any damage was done.1 point
-
Or just leave the winters on. No harm in that. Unless your wife regularly laps the Nurburgring. I left Nokian WR3 SUVs on my 2014 XC90 year round. I know I keep banging on about this but don't get hung up on the tyre thing. Put some decent all seasons or winters on and forget them. Anything else is marketing and forum pish. #grumpy1 point

Hope that’s the only hiccup. As you say at least it was found early with no damage caused. It’ll be more than worth it when it’s all fitted1 point

Next person to ask where and when will be presented with a special title (and will be asked to append it to their login name) Sunday 19th November 10AM RAF Cosford Museum See you there. All welcome, IS-F or not!1 point

So he might! But did you win your car in a free raffle? I guess not and I know I have worked damn hard to get mine so if some Jeremy Kyle contestant wants to treat it ( my property) like dirt then it is probably gone end up with us both rolling around on the ground and getting a few scratches to say the least, straight after an exchange of expletives has taken place. Sure it ain't gonna fix anything but I'm gonna sleep a whole lot better and mr tricycle might think twice in the future.1 point

The seats themselves, no. The covers of the seats - possibly but not on the F-Sport as the foam is injected into it. Would I do it? No, simply because it looks odd and then you'll have 2 badly worn seats.1 point

Hell of a conspiracy there Linus. I've no idea what you mean with your scapegoating comment but it appears you've just met one of society's many dickheads. A sub-culture that seems to be on the increase. And they can be motorcyclists, cyclists, motorists, pedestrians or people wearing hats. Makes no odds. Individuals who clearly just don't give a toss about anyone else. My commiserations, it's a shame about the dashcam footage. The only thing we can do in situations like this is to take a deep breath and make more of an effort to treat people how we would like to be treated.1 point
-
thanks for all your support guys, much appreciated. At least I know other people also agree with me that Lexus are being extremely harsh with the way they are treating me. I have been on Twitter to vent my anger and Lexus have contacted me straight away and asked for my registration and claim number and stated they will get someone from customer relations to contact me. I have also emailed Paul Van Der Burgh and Richard Balshaw raising my concerns.1 point
