Or may be people could just take the jokes for what they are, jokes.2 points

That's because Lexus don't build a car big enough to carry royalties possessions. We've said it for years, why didn't they build an LS estate? Strangely enough, after owning various Lexus cars for about 14 years, my current Volvo XC60 is better than all of them, in my opinion of course. An absolute joy to drive and as safe as it gets!2 points

Hello Lexus owners! Today I am proud to say I have become the owner of this 2004 GS430 Sport. My partner is Canadian and can only drive automatic so we came to an agreement that if I buy an automatic, she will be able to drive it, but I get to choose what car, and here we are. I'm already in love with it. I come from a Mazda background but this feels really premium, I cannot believe the lack of road noise. The gentleman I bought it off has told me it has the Y section and behind with an aftermarket exhaust, as well as TTE rear shocks which neither was listed in the advert, but was a great surprise. The only thing I am not loving is the obvious fuel prices.... However, I am able to walk to work, so it is purely a weekend car. My main query is, should I be running it on premium? For the trip home I decided to opt for Shell V power as I wasn't sure, but I assuming it is the right choice. This example seems to be well looked after, no rust in the typical spots, minimal bodywork damage (at least no obvious damage in the hideous weather today), no knocks or bangs (besides the rigid rear shocks) and a recent cambelt / water pump replacement. Thanks for reading, I cannot wait for the weekend to give it a clean and go for a proper drive in the dry!1 point

Thanks for the reply mate, I do have an aftermarket stereo I was going to put in but didn't bother as my current factory stereo doesn't work. I'll give that a try.1 point

Lexus Link is only available for the MY20 ES models. It doesn't provide remote start (not available on any European Lexus hybrid). https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/about-my-lexus/my-lexus-portal/lexus-link/#features-table For your vehicle: a) No b) n/a, see a) Lexus Enform in the US has had remote start capabilities for years - but they have a different system, and different laws. Sending a nav destination to the vehicle has been a function in Europe for years, but this doesn't need cellular connectivity. The servers hold the trip information and the vehicle uses bluetooth/wifi hotspot from your phone to connect when you start the vehicle. I wasn't aware the MY19 ES sends out it's location. I guess it is using the eCall system.1 point

It was once quite limited and indeed difficult even for professional car hifi installers but there are lots of options to upgrade the audio and nav now. Some simple and others require a fair amount of knowledge and skill. I would say adding tech from a much later Lex with Apple Carplay is just about impossible, I can't think of anything else that's compatible with the SC430's set up other than kit from a later SC430. It all depends on what you want and what's important to you in terms of convenience and quality. There are a few threads on here and some install examples on you tube. Search for Grom, Metra and Beat-Sonic, they are options for interfaces that open things up using the original audio components with or without swapping the head unit. (Pioneer works well with Beat-Sonic) Other owners with some tech know-how and fabricating skill have converted/adapted the nav unit to deliver Carplay and a whole lot more too. see here for the crazy end of the scale.1 point

Just for interest, my wife always leaves a shopping bag (don't ask) on the back seat and when I turn the engine off a warning comes on the dash saying "check rear seat) and when I lock the door I get 5 loud bleeps and a warning flashes up on the screen again. Quite annoying really.1 point

The 2019 ES as a base model is exactly that, a basic spec, sufficient for some and was the car I purchased in August 2019 however I decided to ad the Premium pack at £3,500 at the time taking the overall cost to £38,550 well under that £40K high road tax ceiling. I can say without any hesitation the premium pack was fantastic value and improved the specification off the charts. From my own memory the premium pack adds: Real leather interior, rear side window and rear screen blinds, wood leather and heated steering wheel, full memory seating for front seats, drivers leg extension to front seat, triple LED headlights, real wood veneers, standard heated seats but also ventilated front seats, 18 inch wheels, mobile phone charger in centre console, twin colour trim to facia, auto folding door mirrors. There might be one or two other things I have missed but overall the 2019 premium pack cars have a lot of extras the Takumi models have although the Takumi models do have some nice touches like heads up display, rear audio controls in centre arm rest, boot lid opening by the kick sensor, better rear seats with reclining action. I now have a 2022 ES Premium Edition which is not another word for Premium Pack and has much fewer options. The 2022 base model with a Premium Pack is still available but the pack costs £5500 now and is the only way you can achieve all the 2019 premium pack extras. I can highly recommend the 2019 cars with premium pack. My 2019 car was velvet black with a tan interior and I really liked it. MY 2022 ES is Mesa red with a tan interior. I do miss some of the extras I once had but price was crucial and I wasn't prepared to go over £40K. I would say buy from a Lexus dealer with full Lexus history for all the benefits they give and there are a few to be had currently on the Lexus UK website. Good luck with the search.1 point

Hi all, Thanks for jumping in. @lenT you are talking about the xenon bulbs, D4S, which are the outer ones. I am talking about the inner ones. I'll attach a picture. The inner ones are HIR1, but I am wondering if HIR2 would fit @OldTrout I see, I have seen this explanation before too, and it makes sense. I know it won't be exactly the same, but the difference won't be that big, I guess. @johnatg thank you for the input. I have seen some with changed bulbs, and they still look better than this old-style yellowish light.1 point

+1 on that, this 250 is the first car I have had since 1984 with LESS than 100,000 miles on when bought! ( 4 cars ) Tell a little lie…the second Mondeo I bought had 99,500 miles on it and bloke was selling it because it was gonna get to 100,000 and his Mrs said it had to go! 🙄 it’s got 176,000 on it now😂😂1 point

White coat syndrome has worn off and now back to normal!, I have sent all the photos to Lexus so we will now wait and see. I still have no OTA update showing on my system. Hopefully your right Andrew and the fix is coming.1 point

I was lucky enough to get a 2012 XC60 from a wealthy customer of mine with only 36k on the clock and a main dealer service record for every year. Plus it has many thousands of pounds worth of extras. For those reasons it drives like a new car but still has the excellent 2.4 five cylinder diesel engine, probably one of the best engines Volvo made.1 point

I had a big couple of blows from my Y section and further up…nothing deemed an MOT failure which I found staggering. They were proper holes. I’d recommend fixing the exhaust…maybe an O2 sensor is failing… My LS400 failed an MOT 2 years ago on emissions at idle. I replaced the air filter and ran Cataclean through on 1/4 tank of fuel. Passed on retest and no further problems. Y section was a later issue.1 point

Probably none, but I know it's still out there, taxed, MOT'd and insured, so....1 point

There is a new OTA update today for fixing connectivity issues. Hopefully this update will sort out those problems.1 point

Update: 1 fault found and it is indeed the reasoning for the lights; PO430 "Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2)". It's obviously something to do with the exhaust system and reading online it appears that it could be a hole in the exhaust, typically found around the Y-section. I have cleared the code for now and took it for a short test drive and nothing reappeared, all features including radar cruise control working as intended. I imagine the lights will come back sooner or later but for now I will see how it goes as there is no obvious signs anything is wrong whilst driving (although there may well be a small blow in the exhaust).1 point

I've had the whole front end apart to fit the front bumper and even tried to re-design it using AutoCAD but I haven't found a way to make it pretty yet. I think it instantly looks better with the bonnet chrome painted to match the body colour as it makes the car look lower but the shape of the lower line of the grill is just 'all wrong' to my eyes.1 point

Or don’t really be concerned about people opening windows and certainly don’t insult them or the owner of the car for doing it. The guy wants to know if it’s possible to do it, not whether they should banish people from opening the opening windows. Do what you want in your own car.1 point

Thank heavens so few such arrogant non-caring people own such a Lexus ..... all other Lexus owners are serene polite and considerate ( of course ) ........... except maybe when faced with some cyclists .. but hey .. there's other Posts about such behaviour methinks .......... Malc1 point

Hahaha, yeah not worried enough to not buy it, but coming from a Mazda diesel, I'm intrigued to see how it compares. But yeah life too short was a big reason for the purchase also. Thanks!1 point

Stick with the genuine Lexus filter. £36 over 4yrs is nothing and you will have the assurance it's doing what the designers wanted1 point

I bought my Takumi in September 2021 after just over two years with my UX with a Premium Pack. It drives exactly the same. Would I go into more debt to buy one?, no. I love it but at the time after 18 months of Covid and no holidays I needed cheering up, had a bit of extra cash so went for it and do not not regret it one bit even though I only found out a couple of months ago about the extra yearly road tax. Love the larger sat nav screen, the sun roof (not used it much yet) the electric seats and steering wheel moving away for easy getting in and out and auto folding door mirrors are all great. Not used the heads up display yet. Only you can decide if it’s worth the extra money, depends I suppose weather you are a car person or it’s just a box for transport. I am a car person and it’s costs me tens of thousands in my lifetime 😂😩😂1 point
