  1. This is just for info, do what makes you happy... When we had a LS430 and an IS250 they were both left on the drive for 6 months at a time while we were abroad, this was over winter for two years.... Both started and ran fine when we returned, the 430 had flat spots on the tyres which went after a few miles driving, the 250 was fine... Neither had trickle chargers but both batteries were only a couple of years old... My wifes current CT200h sat on the drive for three months and again ran fine when we returned, it even backed off the drive and drove a short way down the road on electric before the engine cut in... So don't worry too much, just get well soon....

  4. The more I read of your contributions my friend, the more I realise that the Rumanian ? Lorry Driver who collided with your Honda Accord on that particular day on the M25 never really stood a chance,did he ? I thought that I was investing for a rewarding life when I spent many fruitful and occasionally fruitless hours watching countless episodes of Perry Mason and Dragnet in order to sharpen my powers of pursuasion and deduction. When what I should have been doing was widening my powers of reasoning by way of introduction to William (of Ockham), Carl (of Comos) and Sherlock (of 221b). I really do like your style Len and feel that you could slot easily and seamlessly into a Prime Ministerial role. Keep it going Sunshine !

I recall debating all this twenty years ago. In fact I was in my office when one of my Partners called me in to see what he was watching on TV. Two things became clear: 1. One of the Twin Towers had been hit by an aircraft or missile. As we watched, a second object – an airliner – hit the other Tower. 2. I was obviously the only one doing any damn work in the Company! But this gives me the opportunity to expand on my earlier moan and point out that, as well as the inability to apply critical thinking, can be added an ignorance of what constitutes evidence. On this, I can do no better than quote Carl Sagan: ‘Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.’ For example, VFR, the statements: How do I explain it. You cannot of course.’ and ‘It had people scratching their heads at the time & still does.’ do not constitute evidence and are not even accurate. As the one making the claims, it falls to you to provide the evidence, which can then be falsified. The Earth is actually a flat(ish) disk. ...and so on ad nauseam! As a final thought re Conspiracies, I suggest that one may not go far wrong if applying Occam's Razor to the problem: Namely, the simplest solution is almost always the best!

  6. Looks a nice car, slightly over-priced for 2001 with 130k miles. I'm a fan of Matt's videos and he does seem to do a proper job and give good advice but at that price point I would want to inspect this car on a ramp to see what has been done about the advisories list, did they service it with Toyota parts and fluids and it's odd that they haven't fixed the sat nav. I haven't seen a follow up video.

  9. When I pre order the NX is showing the same as yours in September. At end of Feb, I only got a notification saying is in Order in Progress showing more details about the location. Another notification in March it started building. 10 days later it left the factory.

That mpg was only on a short trip , so nothing to get exited about , but i drove 700 miles total now and the mpg its still very good im always getting 55+ mpg that thats mix of a,b roads + highways etc today i went from Southampton to Warminster about 100 mile trip and and my mpg went from 55to 56 , 50% of the journey only in ev mode , thats pretty impressive . Only advise i can give to everyone its make sure you check the car through out on the day you collect because after my first wash i found few small scratches on the car and im know i didnt do them myself , but the obviously i never checked the car when went to collect it ...

  12. I couldn’t her mine to save at all then was told the seat has to be run all the way from front to back, up and down and the backrest full forward and back for the seat to know it’s limits. Did that and memory now works perfectly.

  17. The Takumi and some hi spec models have 3-Eye LED Headlamps but lower spec. models have Bi-LED Headlamps, so make sure you test drive the UX with the same spec as you intend to buy.

  18. Just viewed this far and it’s in poor condition. Had an accident in the rear, bumper paint mismatched and rear lights misaligned. Front bumper looks like it’s been off and misaligned. Carpets inside matted, generally worn all over. Engine bay, lots of rust. On the test drive it was very crashy.

My new to me RX300 has been LPG's with a BRC kit, it has a valve lube bottle fitted, the previous owner, who had it converted, admitted that he only used one bottle of oil in it as it made it smoke a bit so he stopped using it... obviously not dialled in correctly when fitted, it is advised at 6-8 drops a minute for the vacuum type system. So mine has run for nearly 70,000 miles with no lube and it has no evidence of VSR... When I was fitting and servicing systems some years ago we found a lot of units fitted by others were not set up correctly, it is easy to get an LPG system to run nice, just set it up to run lean...!!! The car feels fine and does good MPG but the downside is it runs hot and lots of things start to suffer, including the valve seats... I think this is why there are a lot of engines on the "hit list" that shouldn't really be there, I can't see any reason why the 300 should be, as has been said earlier if 1 out of 1000 installs showed VSR for ANY reason then the engine gets put on the list... So what you need is a well set up system with the correct size injectors (we saw lots of cars with the wrong size and even some with different sizes across the cylinders..!!!) that does not run lean. I hooked up mine to diagnostics the other day, which was last serviced 10 years ago, and it is running just about spot on. On the issue of servicing, we did loads, mostly when they were not running well and it was almost always a setup issue rather than failing parts or blocked filters. If your system is running well, and not lean, then IMHO there is no need to service an LPG system, there are a few filters in the system but these last for donkeys years... And as for valve lube... the answer must be do whatever YOU are happy with, if you do use it then makes sure it is dialled in correctly and try to get 5-6 drops a minute which should not make it smoke...

  23. Roy, Herbs had double locked the car so you can't open doors from the inside. You can't double lock them if the ignition is on so you can't get trapped in the vehicle, if the doors are single locked when you are driving and you have an accident then the locks will open so emergency services can help you out...

  25. Thanks to all for your encouraging comments about the Hazel, looks like I made a good choice. The other colours had dark headlining but I wanted a brighter interior, especially after having a full cream leather interior in my IS300h for the past 9 years. Any interior pics would be most welcome, might sway others to choose it too.

What you did was ingenious and Lexus ought to have incorporated your design into the 4RX. It was sunny and warm yesterday but getting at the jump start posts on a freezing or wet day would be quite another matter. Alan

  28. I no longer have the car but found the volume very load on the bluetooh audio much loader than my current ML system. It didn't have the AUX in as I think that came on 08 models so I missed it by 6 months. I think by 10 or 11 plates they had bluetooth audio & got rid of the cassette. GS4 has USB, AUX & BT audio.

The thread is below, Alan, but yes, the 12V terminal in the engine bay fuse box is there for that specific reason and it's exactly what I used the other day when I finally got my jump start battery pack out of the boot. The only reason that I wanted a socket in the cabin was because Sod's Law would dictate that when a jump start was needed it would be on a very cold, wet and windy night, so being able to do it from inside the cabin means I could stay dry.

Flanges are supposed to be loose, the welded branches are where the design flaw is, there is no flexibility on the welded ones, from memory I think the flange/weld are arse about face which is the design flaw, the stress on the welds is the issue, I had mine changed as the only real answer is to tig weld and a pyramid style of about 3 layers, the labour is the biggest expense hence why I changed mine over to the GSF ones, the branches are bigger/bigger bore and the design has been rectified…… mine went at 49k and has never been tracked and only the odd spirited drive……. I think they rectified the design when things were updated during the ISF build….. BUT they are about £800-ish a side from lexus.

  33. OK got m8 thread bar and it was a hassle removing them until I broke it into 2 parts since it was too long. The angle from the break causes a cross thread on the seals and 3 of them pulled out with minimal hassle. There is one ***** soaking in WD40 Unconventional methods alright 🙂👀

  34. Like the others, I'm sorry to hear of your injuries and I hope you make a speedy recovery. As for the car, I think you'll be alright without doing anything, although a trickle charger is a good idea regardless. It's mostly the hybrids that suffer the battery problems because the 12V batteries fitted to these are small when compared to a standard car such as yours. My 2013 RX450h had, if I remember correctly, a 45Ah or possibly 50Ah fitted, whereas yours should be 75Ah or more, I would have thought, which means that it can stand for longer before going flat. Plus, and with due respect to the others, I really doubt that the tyres will develop flat spots or brakes seize up in just a few weeks. A year or more, yes, but not just a few weeks. A few years ago I had a triple heart bypass and wasn't allowed to drive for eight weeks and I was in exactly the same situation; wife can't drive and car not insured for anyone but me. When the day finally came there were no problems whatsoever; car fired up first time, no stuck/binding brakes and no flat spots.

I purchased one recommended by another member on here. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124808047632 It took a little time to install the software but once done connected to the car fine ( import model too!) Did a full code read fine, not had time to delve further into its capabilities but plenty of options seem available. Just be aware that the battery seems to flatten fairly quickly with the device connected and running.

  36. Hi Rob I have had mine for 18 months and asked questions and surfed the net looking for one. In the end there was 2x 2007's in the frame, a blue one in Glasgow or Silver in Bedford both big distances from me in Meltham. It is not the distance but the right car for your day. That is a medley of thing that matter to him like milage, colour of the car and trim which is personal to him. Any corrosion on top and underneath, if everything works. Then trust is a big thing and if he goes for the one at High Peaks, I have heard he is a good guy. It's not so far from where I live. The engines and quality is excellent but a service history is definitely desirable especially if its done by a Lexus dealer. The specification is awesome considering the age of them After buying it some cash and hard work can make any car much better, well it certainly did for mine! Good look to your dad and I hope you find him the right one. I smile and feel happy every time I see mine, start it up or drive it, I hope your dad feels the same. Regards, Anthony

  38. I've now contacted Lexus customer service and asked if I can sign up to 'Support Talk to Lexus'. I like filling in things like this so hope they can help. They sent me a proper reply with a 'please leave this with us, we'll look into it' within 20 minutes which I thought was impressive.

  39. 10 weeks 3 days from order date to driving it off the forecourt seems a world away from a suggestion a dealer is now saying a year for order/delivery. What's gone wrong? Surely the demand of Lexus cars is not the reason is it? Wonder if the supply chain has collapsed for all the stuff Japan imports to build their cars, seems likely.

  40. When I collected my ES last week, the dealer said it was a good job I ordered it in November last year as it is now 12 months delivery from order. Not sure how true that is though. There seems to be big variations on delivery dates.
