  2. David, Mine is in 'ECO' mode and now showing 2.4 mile/Kwh. Note that when in EV mode the car will sometimes make up its own mind to change to HV mode for a short time. I think this may be to keep the 12v battery charged, or perhaps some other reason, but it gives you a false idea of the range you think you are getting in EV mode. I tried a longer motorway trip recently in HV mode, but the car stayed the whole journey with the ICE engine doing the driving and the fully charged EV battery stayed fully charged. So I put it into EV mode for the return journey! Electricity is cheaper than petrol! Tom
  3. I sent an email to my local dealer, saying that Lexus had advised that they would be given details of a security enhancement by the end of April, and asking whether they had received it, and when they would be contacting me. This is the reply I received: My name is **** and I would like to thank you for contacting Lexus ****. Your enquiry has been received and I will be sure to follow up with you directly or pass your enquiry along to the most suitable person to respond. Your vehicle is not affected by this recall. I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce to you Lexus Relax, which is a testament to the confidence we place in our vehicles. Lexus Relax is a revolutionary vehicle warranty coverage that provides you with complete peace-of-mind protection. Lexus Relax is activated through completing scheduled servicing at a Lexus centre for vehicles up to 10 years old/100,000 miles. The warranty is provided at no extra cost following a service and is available to all Lexus models that fall within the age and mileage criteria. Lexus **** appreciates this opportunity to assist with your vehicle needs. Sincerely, That's solved that then!
  4. This is how CVTs behave and I agree, it could be appear a bit counter-intuitive if you haven't driven CVTs before. Unlike torque converters, CVTs don't have gears, so in essence, the transmission constantly adapts to set-speed (cruise control) and road gradients and it does this by varying the engine RPM for optimal performance. This is why you'll find the RPM go down sometimes as you're speeding up. Weird I know but that's the CVT.
  5. Went on the Spanish motorway with the top down. No hats lost again. Noisy at 80 thru the tunnels past the trucks. My ears are still ringing. Think Yorkshire may have been a tad warmer than Spain today.
  6. Toyota’s are getting better. But Lexus will get better too 💫 quality and reliability wise, aren’t they identical? It’s more superficial pleasantness in a Lexus: nicer looks, nicer cabin, better materials, sound deadening, smoothness etc? All the ‘nice to haves’ Personally I’m mad we aren’t getting that new Prius 🙃
  7. Wink wink, nudge nudge, we won't tell where your wife rides ! It's the boot lid (cough).

  9. ….why do people filch these torches, Malcolm - they won’t use them and have no idea of the value ! I have had a flag out for one on EBay for 3 year’s - not a sniff ! have owned 4 BMW’s - only one had the original torch in the the glove box socket! anthony
  10. I've just raised a “complaint” with LV asking what the delay is in insuring the LBX and when it will be added to their list. Will keep you updated with outcome.
  11. The rear window stays surprisingly clean in my opinion. Way cleaner than on a hatchback. The bumper, number plate area and rear-facing part of the bootlid are always the dirtiest parts on my car. There's nothing on the mirrors as far as I know, but the front windows do have a water-repellent coating. You could apply a glass sealant/coating to the mirrors and thd rest of the glass yourself. There's many available, but one of the best and easiest to apply (Soft99 Glaco) can be bought in Euro Car Parts.
  12. I owned this many years ago. Bought it with buggered front air suspension and swapped the front struts with some from a MA70 Supra - I miss this car
  13. BUT BUT BUT …….. I’m expecting my 91 Ls400 to last at least another 20 years 🤔 Malc
  14. Michael hi ……. have you broached this with you usual maintenance guy yet ? Malc
  15. Hi, I never got to the bottom of it, but I sold the car a little over a year ago so I can't be of any help I'm afraid.
  16. My 460 has a sunroof which I have only opened once - to check if there was any rust (there wasn't). One of the reasons I drive an LS is because it is whisper quiet. I have the aircon on all the time and I'm a happy bunny!

  18. Many members over the years have just fitted the space saver spare without the bracket. It’s a tight fit in the hole so no real need to lock it in place . Pull the half circle foam trim out the boot and see how the wheel fits, try it both ways around . when I fitted mine i cut a cardboard template the same size as the grey boot mat, then cut away the cardboard until it fitted flat in the boot around the spare. Then laid the cardboard template over the grey boot mat, and cut it with a jigsaw.
  19. Yes, Lexus is Toyota’s premium brand. The point I was making is that the Jemca dealerships are ultimately owned by Toyota. Most dealership groups are normally entirely independent and not owned by the car manufacturer (e.g. Steven Eagell also mentioned are entirely independent). https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Car_dealership
  20. Hi everyone, Got an es300h with digital mirrors last October. The transition from conventional mirros was painful 😄 but I got used to the location of the screens in a few days and now love all the benefits. But... I know, a lot of people will say "I told you guys". I started noticing that on some occacions the colours would become washed out, mostly in the middle of the screens (when zoomed out), and this would also affect night time view. Heating would somewhat eliminate the issue but it would become the same after the heating goes off. I finally found the cause of it. There is condensaate INSIDE the cameras! That is why heating wasn't really working and the issue kept coming back as when it runs off the camera cools down very quickly, resulting in condensation on the camera lens. Dear digital side mirror owners, have you experienced anything like this? Will be contacting Lexus tomorrow. Let's see what they say...
  21. In America these are side marker lights, amber at the front and red at the back . With LED’s being popular now, they are sold with clear covers and coloured bulbs . They are also available as clear lens with white bulbs . Think they all come from the States 👍🏻
  22. They don't affect the car operation - they are just a warning. All cars 2014 on have to have them working. Originally an EU regulation I think.
  23. Apparently there is no such thing as common sense as you cannot assume someone’s skill set is the same as yours.🙄
  24. My understanding is that both the USB sockets inside the charging cubbyhole should work for AA. I’ve attached a couple of extracts from the manual that may help.
  25. It is ridiculously quick for what it is and being electric I bet it feels even faster than the numbers suggest. Managed to grab one with a decent spec too, has the innovation, comfort and convenience packs (would have liked the upgraded audio but sadly wasn't available) so should be a decent package. Thanks again for your help!
