  2. Full spectrum of colours and prices now and here's today's latest addition, looks very very nice 2 years Lexus warranty remaining. Its original registration number is DF08VSJ https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201712182139995?model=IS F&advertising-location=at_cars&sort=sponsored&radius=1500&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=New&make=LEXUS&postcode=ba11rj&page=2 Big Rat

  6. So I’ve learned about 3 more cars today alone thanks to @Toothy and @ollie isf and found one for myself so the numbers are climbing to the magic 211 ! To give you an idea here is the car once owned by @Toothy father pictures taken back in the day and whoever bought it in 2011 still owns it, look at that paintwork 😎 Big Rat

  7. Are there no Engine Management warning lights on, reading the codes would be a good first move. The symptoms would describe a sticking EGR valve (loss of power and plumes of grey smoke) and with what you mention it would seem the service regime is a little vague given the internal state of the engineand so would be looking at an immediate oil and filter change. Also check the 2 breather pipes they can clog up or collapse.

  8. I think I must of heard most that are available for the isF in person now, which in my opinion is the only way to decide before parting with your cash. So if you just want that extra little bit of V8 burble a few hundred quid will just do it. Cutting off your rear boxes is fine for the extra A+B road antics but get on the motorways and the drone for most is unacceptable. Lots of systems available just depends how much you are prepared to pay most are from a little over a grand to five thousand, it's the percentage value to the car that most need to be wary of I guess. Now I posted up about the Uk company Quicksilver and the Rcf,s they did for Lexus and it was Lexus who approached them, I initially listened to them like we all do on line and i thought I need to hear that in person. So as luck would have @Flytvr has had their cat back system fitted to his Carbon Rcf and it is without a shadow of a doubt absolutely stupendous from the build quality to the noise and zero drone at motorway speeds. Just after he had done I took the below couple of clips unfortunately usual iPhone rubbish speakers better on headphones. With the intention of going back to the airfield to get some full chat runs which we did but the weather was appalling and prevented filming but those of us that were gathered there agreed it is a fantastic deep V8 menacing old school system sound with all the pops and bangs that bring the car to life. 9. They’ve highlighted this one I’ve seen 3 Gsf’s Go off the Lexus site in the last week or so......ignoring all the usual hater comments, looking forward to the prices of these and RCF to continue to fall 😉 https://www.pistonheads.com/regulars/ph-spottedykywt/lexus-gs-f-spotted/37285 Big Rat

  11. I might be wrong and might need a more technically minded member to confirm but it could cause a 'slight' inaccuracy on your speedo reading. Also the cautious of us would declare the larger tyre sizes to the insurance company.

  12. I was surprised with the performance of the LS. ive stuck with Continentals. They work but have to be in good condition. You know I own a Jag by now...**** if you don’t have Pirelli’s they’re a handful, If you’re a snail go economy. If you drive sensibly but do more miles then pay...but shop around. Lexus say they compete with others...check them out. I don’t work for Lexus...looking to keep the boat afloat. 😀

  15. Yeah, the paint was super clean. H&S catback without x-pipe sounded awesome too. And it even comes in stay-clean-even-if-its-dirty grey too. Looks like a good Xmas prezzie for some lucky Lexus fan.

  16. I'll be brutally honest. I've seen three different RCF carbon models. Red, silver and white. I wasn't keen on the red, but even less keen on the silver. IMvHO, silver doesn't work on the RCF (or carbon). The morning I picked up my RCF, I arrived at Stoke early. My car was hidden inside, but the silver carbon was outside. In all honesty, when I saw it, I started to panic, thinking that buying an RCF was the wrong thing to do. All was good when I eventually got inside and saw my car waiting there -

  25. @FlytvrI think you are right! But I'm undecided about the Silver on a RCF because they don't photograph well so was wondering if they look better in person? Also the carbon works well with white but not sure about silver...

  31. I've not had to work on the sensor itself before, but I bookmarked this for future reference as you never know!! Have a scan through this it may give you some pointers. Not the same model but it would not surprise me if some parts are common across the range.

  37. Lowest must be mercury grey CE13OAA. Had 16k miles at last MOT. @Big Rat, have you got that one on record? And speaking of which, how many have you got on There? I reckon I know of about 10 IS Fs you could add. And would you ever make it a shared resource to help people when buying? I'm just interested!

  38. Let's hope it's not one very dodgy dealer (Lexuschap + other names of a similar nature) as you have probably been had. Dude.

  39. This seems to have happened suddenly as it was fine for the first two weeks? I had a hesitation and stalling on a Mk3 LS400 - I think it was the throttle body - after driving it for a while longer it cured itself to some extent. What mileage is on the car? Did it have a service history? As you are from the West Midlands, could you have inadvertently bought it off a dealer posing as a private seller? You might try the American Lexus Owners Club site. Keep us informed how you get on. Wishing you luck.

  40. Good honest review. While I can't refute your comments on road noise, ride and lights 2 out of 3 are improved with different tyres and upgraded bulbs. Ride is down to personal preference, I quite like it being on the firm side. I found pairing my phone to be quite easy and while I can work the sat nav, the general infotainment system is definitely not the best designed from a usability standpoint. As Rayaans has stated it is a 7 year old design and some aspects are beginning to show their age. My worry is they dump the CT as they have in the states which would be a shame as it is a good gateway car into the Lexus range and not everyone wants or can afford the NX/a SUV CT replacement.

  45. I use a method thats probably frowned upon, but as I park outside my house, I use a 10 litre container of warm water (tepid not boiling) and just go over all the windows. its quick and have never cracked a windscreen throughout ownership of cars. However my old Clifford Alarm had remote start and 5 mins of the car running outside all windows are generally clear :-D

  47. I've attended meets at Coventry Transport Museum too. They're set up well for it and it's a great day out if you've never been. http://www.transport-museum.com/visiting/car_clubs.aspx If not for the 10th anniversary. Maybe something for the future. Especially if we start to see greater number of people coming, like at Cosford.

  48. Rising the topic again :) I have just fixed my front headlight leveling sensor so I just wanted to share this with you. I took the rear sensor from Honda accord 2003-2007, they are the same as mine on IS200. Also you can find one from Toyota prius 2004-2005 or Mazda rx8. Just be careful because there are two different types, look the same from the outside but they are "mirrored" inside. I also replaced the main cause of leakage, the seal. For some reason they put the seal wrongly and that is the main cause of failure. I ordered new seals 10x21x7 with dust lip and put it as it should be (dust lip towards the ouside of the shaft). I also put some metal-free grease all around the seal. Now it looks good and works great! Here are some pictures:

  49. I have an SC430 that had levelling sensor problems - now fixed for pennies - The sensors are on the front and rear nearside suspension. They can be removed with a 10 mm & 8 mm spanner. These sensors often get water in side which causes their failure. Rather than pay Lexus £300 to fix try this. Remove sensor ( try the front one first) take it onto a clean table. Unscrew the 4 cross head screws. Inside you will find a variable resistor. There are 3 wires going into this sensor. First with either a meter or bulb circuit tester check that each of the 3 plug contacts are conducting to one of the 3 springs ( see photo ) Often the sockets where the springs fit are rusty and sometimes the springs themselves are disintergrated by rust. Pull each spring out using fine nosed pliers and look at the condition of the gold plated contact at the bottom of each socket. If there is rust present use a small screwdriver to scratch away rust until shiny and bright. Clean each spring - replace any that look past it - Recheck each spring for electrical continuity. If all ok replace cover and 4 screws and refit to car. If you can not clean up then consider soldering a wire from the lead between the plug and the sensor and feeding it into the unit and soldering it to the dodgy spring. If you need help call me on 0161 707 3968.
