  1. I have tweeked the website's ECU and now sticking her on the dyno LOL Looking better already.. i will keep tweeking. I am no longer getting reports of downtime, must of had 2000 reports, my phones ringtone was on fire. Funny how it gets fixed at the end of the bank holiday weekend. Just typical

  2. I’m pretty certain that Steve is doing all he can to sort this problem bearing in mind it is a Bank holiday so this could result in delays. Having been an LOC member for over 12 years this is the first time I can recall any problems with the site, upgrades are routinely carried out so please bear with it.

Cars were a little chalk and cheese, Jag very modern, rode beautifully even on 20" wheels with the adaptive suspension and the engine is the best sounding and responsive forced induction v6 on the market imo. Then there's the ISF, well that's the car that will be sitting in my drive in a weeks time 😁 felt about 10 times more special. Bought the silver 09 plate 32k miles with 3 years of Lexus warranty.

  4. How cool does that look? Have to agree with Bob, blue and cream is the best combination. Looks even more traditional with the correct steering wheel but I'm not going back.

  6. For piece of mind try and get the youngest possible and either via a Lexus dealer or purchase a Lexus 2 year warranty afterwards (which may be subject to inspection). Ones that are very cheap tend to have hidden issues.

  7. yes, basically the server was throttled and was running out of worker connections, i increased the maximum workers and it has improved. I will keep an eye on it.

  8. There are several threads on the various forums about greasing caliper pins, what grease to use or not to use.   12. I think my Lexus was a Friday Lexus, and the chap (or maybe robot) did not ensure that the rubberised coating was thick enough at the edges. It is testament that its lasted 18 years, given the salt and mud attack it has suffered from. I was shocked at how bad it was, and given I have scraped out the mud on a regular basis, I had never really had a goods look at the rear arches until this problem. I did notice some sealant applied to the bottom of the boot well, but assumed that was original, but maybe in hindsight I should have had a good look when I bought the car. Still the car is now waterproof, I just need some decent dry weather to clean up rest arch, then Kurust and Waxoyl in the hope that the arches will last another five years or so. Roll on summer, as this Easter has been one big rain-fest

You are correct in that observation it is common practice for manufacturers to dispose of parts enblock when the cost of storing them is seen as negative asset value and they don't see a big enough market for them in the future. The parts are sold to the highest bidder in aftermarket auctions that the general public don't get to see.

Phil The cost of replacement parts is down to volume of sales relative to cost of manufacture,trim is not a consumable and volume will be small the tooling for these parts is very very expensive and cannot be absorbed entirely on the manufacture of the model so any replacement parts because they may sit around on shelves for years are costed for sale at compound projected annual increases.

  17. Michelin pilot sport 4... or super sport if they fit but as said you really need to define “best” ? ...best on price, grip, noise, ..? More often than not best means cheap. And mps4 ain’t that.

  18. The air compressor is working as the suspension is in the air, not on the ground. All 4 height controller sender units may be communicating to the control module but if I'm right, the one at the high corner is stuck. I've seen this a few times before and every time where one corner is very high, it's been a broken or faulty height controller. I haven't been able to confirm the genuine Toyota/Lexus part number for the LS600 front right but I think it's 89405-50100

  21. My understanding of his complaint was that although they had offered to change the part he wanted to vent is spleen on somebody because he had fitted the part , as any business got a department that deals with the customer cocking it up.

Andy I have come across this with uk online sites and not strictly Auto related,it comes down to their logistics set up and if they are dealing with Fedex Ups or corporate logistics the dispatching is down to the carrier and they dictate minimum pricing based on software devised for the customers operations ,anything that falls outside that scope cannot be handled below a certain minimum price. The telephone sales or online sales staff have nothing to do with the item and probably never see it. When the software is formulated seals washers screws and small items are usually assumed to be accompanying larger orders and are not priced for individual delivery.

  24. The RCF without adaptive suspension is pretty good. It is firm and every time I get to drive the car, the suspension reminds me that I’m in a purposeful car. Unlike the journalists, I never found the ISF suspension all that bad. The RCF is however a smoother ride than the ISF.

  26. I just had an 02 sensor from Rockauto in the States which was £52+ £5 postage, then there was an £8 Royal mail handling charge and £10 customs fee. It's a Denso part, £195 at main dealer. Well worth it if you don't mind waiting two weeks.

Hi Mike Downsizing to a V8 with 279/282 bhp, and lots of torque, I think I see how you're playing it Top 5...that's a really good question and the answers might depend on which model you go for. It may also depend on whether or not management will drive it and whether they are inclined to 'get there quickly' or not. So trying to avoid the technical stuff. 1 The most reliable V8 cabriolet money can buy. 2 Roof on or off, fun to drive, it makes you smile every time. 3 Very smooth, quiet, comfortable and well appointed, it is quicker than it looks. (delete any elements that may be counter-productive to the case) 4 No room in the back for passengers so plenty of rear seat space for luggage and shopping. 5 With the top down on a warm sunny day, almost universal appeal to all management. It just makes you want to go out and drive it all again.

Agree, they have a lot of qualities but when you dig under the surface there are some very significant issues that Porsche seem quite keen to suppress for obvious reasons and the general motoring press will rarely pick up on as they are usually just testing brand new models and are more interested in how the car performs at speed and so on rather than the longer term ownership proposition. I guess if you are wealthy enough to buy a new one every couple of years then these issues don't impact you or if they do, the everything is done under warranty and you get a lovely courtesy car while your car is getting fixed. This seems to be quite similar to what I read about Landrovers, I really like the FF Range Rovers but running one out of warranty would be a nerve wracking and a potentially financially ruinous experience and that doesn't seem to be the case with Japanese cars and of course we know from our own experience of the F performance cars that generally speaking you are on very sold ground in terms of the ownership experience, and when you combine this with strong dealer service then for many it will make for more of a satisfying ownership experience even though you may feel that initially you are 'compromising' on the choice of car you purchase.

As a non talented driver, 460+ BHP, RWD and British roads, I’ll take all the help Lexus can give me 👍😀 I love the idea of being able to balance the car on the throttle, powering it sideways out of a corner or even executing the perfect u-turn using throttle ownly. Great if you have the ability and a safe environment, but for me just pipe dreams, as reality says an oversteer moment is more likely to soil my trousers! Far too many RWD ‘hero’ types on YouTube. Love this one. Now, where’s my ECCO mode button.......

  33. Yes it is. Procedure below. I have external aftermarket sensors for the wide wheels. When I disconnected the TPMS module I did also tape the connectors up to make sure they are isolated from everything else. part copied from clublexus - put shifter in Neutral - open up center console - pull the whole heated seat module straight up, it will come up. disconnect - you will be able to pull up the wooden part that surrounds the shift plate (close to center console) - once it's up, the only point holding it are two clips right below the radio - once it's out, you will see the TPS unit right below the radio - unplug BOTH plugs, one small on the right and one bigger one on the left - put everything back and enjoy

  34. I had three Jaguars XJ's. I had a 2001 XJ 3.2 which was a lovely car. I then bought a 2004 XJR which was a brilliant car, and so fast. Then I traded the XJR for a 2009, very, very last production XJR which had all the options that were available to the XJ range as my XJR was one of the last 10 cars ever made. It was a rocket ship, but after a couple of years I decided that it was just too difficult to drive. The last XJR's had around 420 bhp which was a real power pack, especially as the car was aluminium. But it was quite difficult to drive slowly, you had to concentrate every second because you barely had to press the throttle and the car rockets forward. I went to France on holiday in it and we called to the Le Mans museum. Having been to the exhibits we headed south, down the Mulsanne Straight and I decided to give the car socks. I took it up to 170 mph before lifting off. The car just kept accelerating, it was exhilarating, a once in a life time opportunity. I eventually sold both Jags and bought a Merc E220 cdi, and although it was comfortable it had no real get-up and go. It was quite nice but the issue with DPF mode drove me mad and I was glad to get rid of it after three years and buy the Lexus IS 300h. The IS is nicely refined when compared to the Merc diesel, but obviously doesn't come close to the XJR. That's only to be expected, the Jag is a 4.2 litre V8 !! But the I is much easier in town, easier to park, and much more economical. But there the comparison ends, the two cars are as different as chalk and cheese. But I would fancy an LC 500 if I had over £70,000 to spend on a car. Parkman.
