  1. Apologies for keeping you all waiting! 😜 Haven't bothered with any ride height pics for now as they just look like it did before the install but here's a few aired out shots for you. Rides like a magic carpet. Unreal. Go out and buy this product right now 😎😎 She...... Low!!

  2. Hi Wayne. Only driven it on motorway back to mine at normal ride height and I have to say, its an unbelievably smooth ride considering its sitting a little lower than it was when I had it on Tein Springs. Feels like an S Class Merc. I'm sure I'm going to lose a bit of stiffness in the corners, especially compared to yours which gets stiffer in the corners if I remember right? You can wind the shock lower and higher like you can with a coil but then you've got infinite adjustment between 0 and about 125PSI on all four corners. I've got 3 presets saved so far at 25PSI which is as low as you see in the pics, 75 which is a little lower than my old ride height and 100 of 110 (can't remember which) which is speed bump height. The more air you have in the stiffer the ride is, the less you have in the softer the ride is so if you want low and stiff you can wind the shock all the way down and still have a lot of air in the bellows but then you lose some of the drama in terms of a big drop when going from ride height to aired out. I'm no race driver so this was mainly a looks and comfort thing for me but at the speeds I typically reach it feels far more solid but just as composed my old set up. It's cool as f### in my opinion so that's my main box so and truly ticked 😎😎😎

  5. So, it's been exactly a week since I purchased my 2014 IS300h on 37k miles and with the F-Sport trim. I know people on here like to hear about the experience of Lexus 'newbies' so thought I would share my thoughts for those interested: What I like/love: - The refinement - It's so quiet and civilized in the cabin that now the slightest rattle (from my children's baby seats) catches my attention (and also mildly irritates me) :-D Even when you floor it and the engine revs, with windows closed its not that bad. A drastic change from the previous louder than normal 2005 diesel. I also like that it feels solid which was something my previous car lacked. - The convenience and tech - love the double edged sword of comfort entry (convenience v security - though I have bought a faraday box). Really enjoy the seat memorization and their comfort as well as the smell of the full leather (dark rose). Enjoy using the rear camera (and wonder how anyone can do without it as visibility isn't great through back window). - Styling - still loving the F-Sport styling and the look of the dash when it's dark and it all lights up (though I don't like it quite so much in the day). - Fuel economy - so far getting mid 40s which is good I think. It's similar mpg to the much smaller, much less refined BMW 120d I had prior. My wife drives it as well and I notice every time I come back to it after she has had it the battery seems lower than when I have it (perhaps she's not braking early enough for the regeneration or just using it more pottering about at low speeds). What I've noticed: - Acceleration doesn't feel as brisk as my previous BMW 120d. Accepted, it was a much lighter car and has a turbo but on paper they weren't too far off and this one has +40 BHP (at 220bhp overall) and a lot of people say the IS300h is quite fast in sport mode. What I notice though is that it doesn't feel fast or you don't get that push into seat acceleration, but then when I look at the speedo I'm doing 70mph so maybe it's a perception thing? I do notice a definite lag though between putting your foot down and the acceleration. Another thing to mention is I haven't found this 'kick down switch' people talk about on autos in this. Kind of like a notch for extra power at the bottom of the pedal. Floored it today to see and felt no such thing. Am I doing something wrong? Oh and finally on this topic something weird I've noticed. In sport mode if you release your foot from the accelerator pedal (to coast) , weirdly it seems like the car almost instantly slows down a little and loses a bit of momentum - much quicker than if you were in normal mode. It's really weird, I tested it a few times this morning. Has anyone else noticed this? - Sound from Dolby system - unfortunately for me, the car I found with most of the things I wanted and at a reasonable price point doesn't have the Mark L sound system. I find the Dolby one a bit lacking in bass and when I turn it up sometimes there is quite a bit of resonance and I feel like I may damage the speaker. Funny thing is when I play certain music it sounds a bit better so not sure if its because I'm streaming from Spotify when its bad and better when the song is downloaded? Wondering if I can fit a small active sub or if I shouldn't dare with all the hybrid electronics? - Navigation has an ugly light brown background on the map during the day but looks nice at night when it changes to the 'night color scheme' which is much less in your face. Is there a way to change the background color in the day mode anyone? Even my wife doesn't like it and she is quite easy going on such things. I on the other hand...:-D - Cup holders in weird position - just makes it uncomfortable for front passenger but someone provided me with potential solution of a cup holder bin (its for an Auris, but may fit). - Music currently being played via Bluetooth doesn't update on the screen when next song comes on (but some helpful people on here tried to help me with this). One said when you plug it into the USB and use it in that mode its up to date, you get slightly better sound quality and screen art - which is true. But its a bit of a faff plugging the phone in each time - which they also acknowledged. Well those are my thoughts after week 1. Would love to hear what you think! Cheers Ken

  6. Good morning, everybody! I have just placed a deposit down on my first Lexus with the Bolton branch! Needless to say, I am very excited to be giving myself a 25th birthday present next week! I am not new to the Lexus brand as my progenitors currently hold a selection of three, however with the lack of manual transmission options I have stuck to other manufacturers thus far. I have, however been in a market for a new commuter and have considered every brand under the sun with regards to practicality, boot space and fuel economy. Having been close to purchasing a 5 Series, I have taken my options back to Japan and couldn't resist the facelifted F Sport GS offering. Plus with the ever pleasant service of the RRG Group (my weekend warrior is a GT86 which had been under RRG Macclesfield's very capable hands for a few years), I have been persuaded into following my father's footsteps and sticking with the well-known and reliable brand. Very excited to join the community and hopefully pick the car up very soon to start taking her on my long journeys!

  7. My Lexus is now back in the driveway. After over two years of not seeing the car (was in storage) and some recommissioning and many pound notes later... the car is now running well again and ready for some occasional wafting! The ECU is now fixed (special thank you to Avilec Ltd on the Isle of Wight) and the car is driving much better. I still have a few jobs to do and I was hoping to gain some advice from other board members who have experience and knowledge with these cars (and just some general common sense advice too!). I collected the car this afternoon from Lexus hoping to find a report of all the 'issues' or supplementary work but sadly one was not done. They focused there time on just getting the car to run right which I understand. I then for the first time drove the car again while on route to the pre-booked Mot. In short the car drives great, but not perfect. 1. My air-con was supposed to have been gassed a year ago but it was blowing warm today and come to think of it I can not recall hearing the motor kick in or notice a change in revs like a/c normally does - will need to double check this. 2. Once reaching 30mph or so and above the car pulls to the left (I think) when braking. Its a weird feeling, as the back feels like is pulling one way and then the front goes another. Then sometimes it just feels like its the front. Strange? This will need to be done next for sure as it feels wrong and not reassuring. 3. Hearing the odd clonk up front and on the rear. 4. The drivers window feels slow to go down. I am wondering if its just dirt over time that has found its way in perhaps? Never tried the others yet. 5. Climate control screen is blurry. I asked for this to be fixed by another garage and its still the same. I am sure they sent it off to a firm but its no use and unreadable. 6. Speakers - not all are working. 7. Steering is a little off centre (had asked for this to be aligned as well but not perfect enough) 8. When driving along the motorway after a few miles and on a slight incline, I felt as if the car was ever so slightly hesitant. When under load on the incline on the motorway it would take off but as I began a little easing of pressure on the accelerator pedal it felt like it was giving a very very slight jerk or a hesitation more like. The car had not went this sort of distance in ages right enough but just curious what that could be. So, went for the Mot and it failed. However, just on the number plates which I will sort out for the re-test. The rest of it was fine according to the garage. No mention of any of my observations which surprises me a little (brakes and suspension). That's all the main mechanical bits at the moment that are annoying me. I would like to get these addressed as I want this car to be the best it can be. Any advice as to where to go or what to look for etc with regards to the above is genuinely appreciated. Too much money and time spent on it to just let it go. I could probably of bought a much newer one or a better example with what I have paid out so far, but that is life sometimes. Before the cars are banned completely I want to enjoy some time behind the wheel of it. Anyway, here is a photo as it stands now. Oh, and thank you Steve2006 for the clear indicators - they are looking rather smart!

  12. Hi Quincemeister, you really have to get your head as close to the pedals as you can to find it. I would be interested to know what tyres you got from Costco?

  13. above the pedals there is a panel where the foot light is located you will also see a tpms button this needs to be pressed and held for a few seconds for the system to be reset.

  15. Hi Paul, Does the Lexus Dealer have a record of the fact that your vehicle is covered by the Extended Warranty ? If no,then tell him. If yes, then ask him to explain why the front and rear suspension links are not covered by the Warranty. We will all be waiting with baited breath for the answer. Good luck.

  16. Looks awesome Dan although some 20s would get lost in there nicely now😁,most importantly whats it like in the corners I know they've come a long way over the years but I don't know anyone with them fitted so be nice to hear your views incase my current set up accidentally breaks, I love the idea of being able to raise it up for ruff roads and speed bumps perfect I can't imagine you getting bored of the car now 👍

  18. No idea about 'Find my car' but that's definitely the fusebox lid. I'd hazard a guess that they installed your dash cam using a piggy-back fuse tap and now it's too big for the lid to go back on. You could cut a notch into the lid to allow it to go back on or some people just leave them off and in the glove box. The fusebox itself will either be up behind the glove box or up inside the driver's footwell. Sometimes they are quite a way up and you have to get on your back to look up towards the dash rather than kneeling outside the car and looking towards the engine bay.

  19. Well it’s 2019 and I’m still using the old girl. The V8 Fiat was put on hold when I couldn’t get the engine to physically fit in the space I had. It’s just too tall. I really didn’t want to cut the bonnet. so that Fiat Coupe is currently being restored and the “spare” one has a VVTi 1UZ sat resting in the engine bay waiting for a decision to carry on at some point. In the mean time I’ve been doing bits and bobs to the LS400, every time I got ready to fit the turbo the MOT loomed so it didn’t happen..... However, now I have come up with a fool proof plan to extricate the catalysts while still being able to pass an MOT. Since id been pretty horrid to the old girl over the last couple of years with the mindset of “it’ll be broken up at some point” so it’s seen some abuse for which I was feeling bad about. The Grey interior having been treated like a work van was looking terrible. So deciding I now had a few 1UZ engines and looms kicking around now, I figured I was rather attached to this car. I felt it needed rescuing and so procured a complete interior in lovely black. After a good while I also treated it to a nice black carpet courtesy of another forum member. And before I begin to finally get around to upping the power I feel it’s best to start replacing the many soft and worn out bushes and other little bits and bobs. I will put up some photos of how the car is currently soon. In April started on the YouTube, where there are now a few videos on this car and my three others. More info very soon 🙂

  20. And if it were a push bike, I'd be even better off. You pays your money and you takes your choice. And as for buying a diesel ?! LOL

  25. I have a friend in the motor trade who has been through just about every car imaginable, he currently runs a beautiful fully restored E type. He had a Bentley for a couple of years and complained that it was one of the most unreliable cars he's had, mostly due to electrical issues with the same duff components being shared with Audi. Stick with the LS, there's literally nothing like it!

  26. its a little more work but you could get a plastic bag and press it into the cupholder holes spray some expanding foam into the bag once dry you would have the perfect shaped plug over the top you could then cover it in vinyl / leather. the long panel the cupholders are fitted in unclips easily hold the panel at the back and give it a good pull upwards until the whole panel is free, remove wiring plug for the controller then turn panel upside down and you will see 4 screws that hold the cup holders in place, remove holder and then apply the cover over the top and refit.

  27. Just had my 2014 NX for about one month during summer. Having owned a hybrid Auris 2016 avg 53mpg, Prius 2018 avg 65mpg, I consider myself a gentle reasonable good hybrid aware driver. I try to accelerate gently without trying to annoy other drivers and try to anticipate in advance the road ahead to perform as much braking with the electric motors as possible. The NX is a large heavy SUV and I was never expecting Prius mileage. So far in summer I'm getting 35-40mpg around town with some short motorway trips. I just completed a long motorway drive to Cornwall from South Wales and averaged 41mpg. NX is about luxury cruising. I find if you put you foot down the mpg falls dramatically. Drive sensibly and enjoy the comfort:)

  28. There's no real need to get hung up about service history, or at least not about having a full Lexus history. I used to do all my own servicing and most jobs on the car when I was physically able to, but I couldn't put a stamp in the book. What I could, and did do, was to keep all the receipts for parts and mark the mileage on the receipt so that it tallied with MOT history etc. Also, Lexus servicing is not cheap so when a car gets to a certain age (maybe 9 or 10 years old) there's absolutely no point in spending extortionate amounts at a main dealers. As I've said in many postings, it may be a Lexus but it's still just 'a car' and any reputable, trusted, garage will be able to service it. There may also be people who have a close family member in the trade. For instance, if you have a brother who's a good mechanic and he says, "You buy the parts and I'll do the service in exchange for you looking after the kids this Saturday night", you're not going to turn him down in order to spend a few hundred quid at Lexus are you? And finally there's people like me who buy a car and run it for years and years until it dies, so resale value and stamps in the book mean nothing.

  29. I wonder whether there is a way for all of us LOC Members to petition Lexus UK to have the upgrade - if indeed it ever comes - retrofitted to our cars where compatibility exists.
