  1. So far so good. Took it into Lexus Cheltenham for its annual service (intermediate) who gave it a clean bill of health. However I had asked them to fix the alignment on the headlights as part of it. They did the dipped beam, but not main. When I called them to point it out, they said main beam can't be adjusted. So I sent them some detail from the US forum on how to do it, and took it back in. Despite the unbroken Lexus service history it's going in to Osaka next year - they are just so much smarter on these cars. The paintwork was in good nick, but felt a bit matte. 15 years of London air, I guess. Eventually I got a clay mitt onto it and it is transformed. Much quicker job than I expected too. Jon PS Just realised most people won't know the back story. After 4 years with my Irish 430, I decided I couldn't see myself driving anything else, so this year bought the best one I could find, for huge money. One owner, 42k miles, full Lexus service history.

  2. https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/?utf8=โœ“&q=lexus+rc&commit=Search It looks like there are 202 from 2018..not sure how accurate but there were 172 registered with DVLA in 2015.

  3. I've had a metal piece fitted by a local independent that serves a lot of the Prius taxis in London, it cost me ยฃ70. Not sure how sturdy or resilient it may be against an angle grinder but my hope is that the added time it would take to cut an appropriate hole through it might dissuade any thieves. 4. I started a job in a house this week for what looks like a fairly wealthy family On the other side of the house is a blue 02 reg ls430. 4 flat tyres ,suspension low and covered in moss. I mentioned it to the lady and its her old car and they just dont use it. I did an mot check and it looks like it ran out in 2017. On around 65k miles. Good mot history too. Ive not so subtly mentioned im a jap car nut and ill be interested. Am i being a bit daft not wanting a once nice car left to rot

  6. Yes this is an issue Iโ€™ve also made an offer for the black 2018 as I realise I may need to be more flexible with colour with such a rare car and it is the one I test drove and was immaculate

  7. And I'm sure you'll agree with me that despite the fairly regular negative comments the LS430 is a superb car, certainly the best I've ever driven, and I've had LS400's, but for me the 430 trumps the 400.

  8. Its a module I got that works in a daisy chain with the TPMS receiver. This module enables the cluster to show the pressures.

  9. Drove my Lexus through some torrential rain today, plenty of surface water and spray. Had to drive through a flooded underpass, water was approx sill height. I waited, much to the annoyance of following cars, for a gap in the oncoming traffic then drove very much on the opposite side of the road not because the water might have been shallower there but to prevent any oncoming vehicles entering the flood and causing a bow wave. Car went through without problem. Not something I would want to do too often...

  11. Updated my navdb_version this afternoon to 2019 v2. Very easy process but having the engine running for exactly an hour is a chore. Noticed Audio is 1010 and Nav is 1520. Do any ES owners have different versions to me? Cheers Habu

  13. Lexus V6 2.5 and 3.5 litre engines are prone to slight knock on start up (as are many other engines), caused by the hydraulic valve lifters sticking. That's caused by not-frequent-enough oil changes. Oil should be changed much more frequently than Lexus (and manufacturers generally) recommend in their service schedules - I'd recommend every 5K miles. And use an engine flush every time. As long as it clears within a couple of seconds it's not particularly harmful - just irritating. But it may get worse over time and eventually cause problems so better to adopt a more frequent oil change regime - maybe do it yourself or engage an indie in between Lexus services if you'll be using the dealer.

  14. Not a snowball`s chance in hell. Driver`s seat looks like it has done 116.5k miles and the pictures are extremely limited. Thanks for the link Lee. It should have been contained within the first post.

  19. So, I'll preface this by saying that Caffeine and Machine is awesome but it's often so overcrowded that it loses any sense of intimacy and you are just one of a massive crowd. I'm looking fir a different feel what we are the showpiece. Leave it with me.

  23. Day 2: Despite much trying, I can't get photos on a FAT32 USB stick to display on the screen (it plays mp3 from the same stick - I've posted my woes on another thread). I also can't get Lexus Link to work - where's the serial number for the navigation system? I checked a video on YouTube and my nav doesn't have any "online" options which I can find. This is not an issue though, I can live without it. I've put my LOC stickers on the rear quarter panes. This meant sitting in the back for the first time. Now, I'm 5'11" and have probably had more than my fair share of pies, beer and wine over the years, so I'm quite a lardy chuffer. Even with the driver's seat in my normal fairly reclined position (not quite Detroit Leaning), there's still acres of legroom behind in the back. I was very impressed. Took the Bread Knife to several garden centres this afternoon to look for Christmas ornaments. As we were paying for some old tat in one of them, I saw my IS out of the window waiting in the car park and it really did look the business. I'm still a very happy bunny. Oh, and the other good thing is the instant boot opening. Press the button on the boot lid and it opens, not like my Gen 2 which had a few seconds delay. Tick VG.
