An update for those who are still patiently waiting for delivery news on their NX350h. Just had an update via Lexus Link to say they have AT LAST started to build it. Ordered Premium Pack Plus in Sonic Titanium with Dark Rose interior on 23rd November 2021.

I think you may be best advised to take it to an auto electrician.Your car ,I think, has a folding metal roof,so you won't be able to fix the rear camera to the inside of the rear screen.That ,to my mind anyway,means you would need to fix the camera to the rear of the car,similar to where you will fix your reversing camera.You need to check if is suitable for external mounting-ie waterproof. I personally wouldn't attempt the reverse camera ir sensors as Frank Spencer was based on my diy abilities. The hardwire of the dashcam may be possible I fitted mine with some difficulty..don't try and do it on a hot day!Lay in stocks of ibuprofen and something to wash it down with as you'll need to get into more positions than the Kama Sutra to work on your fusebox.Watch some You Tube videos see 1 attached link and search for "Craigs car diy" on fitting a viofo dashcam--he's very good and easily understandable. Can i just say that i am pleased we seem to be out of the pandemic now. People still catch it but the element if danger seems to have left and the world has opened up again. We are still in a big economic mess as supply chain and logistics were closed down an had to go full throttle again almost overnight. This will affect the automotive world at least for another year. Before all is balanced and back to normal we could well be in 2024/5!

Blimey they say an easy access behind the front bumper? Plus without causing damage because a damaged car is worth so much less etc etc. That amount of 'shaking ' the car to fold back the bumper surely has to trigger the cars alarm. From my own experience with changing a nearside headlight it took me a good 15 mins to losen the wheel arch liner and to remove numerous screws to access the headlight mounting screws. Very good article though. Something made me chuckle though. Where it said to use a steering wheel lock as a physical deterrent as it probably would deter the 'techno kid' who doesn't know manual things.

I strongly suspect that the availability of a courtesy vehicle is down to the Dealership manager. I'm always offered a vehicle for the day. (I book my service and MOT a month in advance - enabling the team to plan the availability). I have my car serviced at Lexus Sheffield (thanks guys) and am as happy as a sandboy ...... (Strongly suspect that phrase dates me!)

I have gathered together all the items I want to fit in my next project which is flush parking sensors front and rear, reversing camera, front and rear dash cams including a hardwire kit. The pile of boxes and packets look a bit daunting but I now need to formulate a fitting plan of what to do in what order. Any guidance from any of you technical experts would be greatfully recieved (except take it to a good auto electrician).

I will be very careful, any hint of trouble taking them off - I'll stop and re think what to do. The door seal looks to be very tight next to the trims, I'll have a good look at the weekend how easy it is to remove and then figure out if it will go back as it was. I don't want wind noise after cos it's loose or something so if I'm not sure they will stay where they are.

Hi Shachar, I've not the same model as you, (mine's an RX450h F) - but I'll share my experience - it may possibly help. We bought our car three years ago from a dealership, and it had 4 Dunlop Sport 235-55-19, (made three years previously), and, as expected, the ride was fairly hard, (I had no problem 'feeling the road surface' 🤔), in fact, I felt absolutely everything, and the appalling road surfaces near me kept me on my toes. A few months ago - and two years research on this forum,I noted that other members had praised the comfort of Michelin Cross Climate tyres, so I had saved my 'beer tokens', and replaced the Dunlops with Michelins. What a difference! A softer, more comfortable ride, much quieter too. I draw the following conclusions: The rubber is newer, more elastic, and absorbs impact better. The RX prefers Cross Climate's to Dunlop's. So you may discover that a different brand will provide a better result, but it may well not be Michelins, so seek the experiences of fellow GS300 owners , and see what they recommend

All I can add to this is the service plan I've recently bought. 2x Major and 1x Minor and 3x MOT total cost £1035. Plus a free loan car fir each service. Personally speaking it's a no brainer getting Lexus or a trusted independent to do services. To me nowadays its a malarkey to get everything needed for a service then jacking the car up then securing it so it doesn't fall over then getting the tools out then cursing you've got the wrong spanner etc etc etc. I'm of an age now I can't be farsed.

As an update.. I like the Topdon, if is very clear to read and does a lot more than I would need. As for the retirement.. you are right.. I much preferred working from home than the office anyway as got more done without being disturbed a the time.. and currently sat in the huge business lounge in Doha Airport on the way to a 2 week holiday to the Philippines as a retirement present to myself.. could get used to this.

Just had a look at the 3m 2080 satin black wrap stuff, I think that’s the way to go for the door trims and probably for the windscreen trims as well, even if I can remove them ok. Thanks for suggesting it Howard.

The screws for the windscreen side trims are revealed by peeling back the rubber seal along the front edge of the door aperture. I am going to do mine, but I found that one of the screws was seized, so my current plan is to vinyl wrap them in situ. You will need to remove the rubber moulding at the bottom of the windscreen pillar. To remove the vertical trims on the doors will probably involve some serious dismantling. I know that to remove the chrome trim involves removing the interior door trim, glass guide and glass before the fixings can be accessed. OTT! It should be possible to vinyl wrap the vertical trims in situ, with very careful use of a craft knife. I did the little "buttons" in the top corner of each of the door glasses and it still looks good after 2.5 years. I used satin black vinyl.

Perhaps I too could take advantage of this thread Bill has started to address some of Eric's concerns. In particular the NHS use of Midazolam. Unfortunately I don't know how to link this post to the threasd in question, so I'll just indicate the quotes. (maybe these figures explain the surge in midazolam use) They also said the government stocked up on midazolam which wasnt bollox. I'm not clear as to why this might be regarded as a 'bad thing'. I suspect many in the NHS might feel aggrieved that this comment suggests it isn't recognised as the effective forward planning it has proved to be. Midazolam is one of the more effective Benzodiazepines and for the last decade, at least, has been has been a popular choice for 'end of life care'. Patients who are within days - or even hours - of death greatly benefit from its ability to calm fear, anxiety and agitation. Why anyone would begrudge someone in that position such final comfort escapes me. I have been told by someone working in a care home that everyone was told to record all deaths as covid, irrespective of what aliments patients had. Not quite. As I understand it, in order to speed up registration and reduce the number of outside contacts, patients in Covid Wards and those who died with the symptoms of Covid, could have that registered as a cause of death - until such time as it could be confirmed by means of a swab test. As many - possibly most- Care Homes wouldn't have a resident GP this would probably be a popular diagnosis - even if it was actually pneumonia - and often exacerbated by the NHS's moves to transfer Covid patients out to Care Homes at the height of the pandemic anyway. My mom back in Ireland has dementia, however despite that she was well enough to engage in conversation with me every week that was until she got jabbed, she has been mute since a few weeks after her first jab, god knows how many more they gave her and one of my tasks now is to visit her before she passes away You have my sympathy and I've had to deal with a dementia sufferer. It comes in many forms, but it is a terrible condition that robs individuals of their dignity and humanity. I saw a study recently among hospital staff that indicated - perhaps surprisingly - that many were not very good at identifying patients likely to die within days or even hours. Such individuals tended to be optimistic and as a result would withhold palliative treatments eg Midazolam. Naturally, they might also tend to see the use of such drugs by others as 'misuse'.

Just had my annual MOT & service done. Passed and everything good on both the hybrid battery and car free healthchecks, so pretty pleased given that the car is 13 years old and 105k miles. Service at Lexus Guildford was very good too.

Hi guys, I haven't driven the car for over 2 weeks due to illness, but the missus has been out & about in it every few days or so in that time. Last weekend she told me that only the driver's window works fine and that the passenger windows have stopped working, which seems to be the case. However, all the windows work as they should when the roof is opened, but only the driver's window will go up and down, the passenger windows stay down until the roof is closed again. Any ideas? I hope I've explained the fault appropriately. Logic kind of tells me it's not a fuse, otherwise there'd be no movement whatsoever. Is there some 'secret' button pressing sequence that has to be performed to reset the windows? Bear in mind that wifey has been the kiss of death to most of the cars we've owned, and I'm not kidding. Any tips/hacks/help will be massively appreciated, cheers.

With a web address like that, I would think twice about clicking that link even though it is obviously fine in this case. Also, call me old fashioned, but when someone asks for help that I can easily supply, I would rather do so than beat them over the head about the manual, especially in the manner you did. It also doesn't suggest the friendly and generally helpful atmosphere that this forum usually represents, but that is just my opinion.

Headlamps have been bleached by the sun , they will not polish out, would insist on new headlamps fitted as they will look yellow under direct sunlight . yet will look acceptable on an overcast day….new headlamps are around £1300 the pair !

SGS ( well known and well respected ) re-gas gas struts if that's the issue At 3 years young your car shouldn't need anything like this replacing surely No idea what re-programming you need unless it's summat to do with the electronics from switch to strut not reading ................. too complex for me these modern high tech cars I think simply finding out WHY you need NEW STRUTS would be a good start ....... are the struts worn out ( surely not ! ) or is it the electronics that's awry maybe ? If it's relatively corrosion free underneath, it's worth giving the underside a liberal spray with something like ACF 50 before winter. It's about £25 for a bottle, and if you decant it into a hand pump sprayer it takes less than 30 minutes to do and gives some protection against rust. In the winter I also attach a cheap lawn sprayer to a hose and give the underside a rinse every now and then to clear any salt. As for the cracked dashboard, depending on how bad it is you can try and fix it with some kind of flexible filler. It won't be perfect but will stop it spreading. It's used on boats to protect against UV cracking and fading.

Yes, I have it on my 2015 IS250 done by Lexus MK. But as you say, it only works as a deterrent if chummy notices. In fact, does anyone notice? Apart from which, it’s easier to compare the reg. number than the VIN. Many years ago I was taking delivery of a new BMW in Leicester. In the handover chat, the sales guy made a point of saying that as a free customer service, they had etched the reg. number into all the glass. Having thanked him for that, I then asked if it wouldn’t have been better to ensure that they were the SAME number? As this was apparently such an effective deterrent, I asked if they proposed to change all the glass or the reg. number? In the end we compromised on an additional discount to cover the botheration factor and a signed letter from the Dealership Principal admitting the error to show when it was queried. Not once in nearly three years did this ever happen!

2 for 1 nay 4 for 1 I could be upgrading my collection of Ls400s for that price ......... sorry I'm just jesting .... not sure i could ever get in and out of a Sc430 .... let alone the back seats unless the top was off ........... I'm all for upping the keep route of V8s for sure trying to fathom how you'd be driving both amazing cars at the same time or indeed how one would choose which to drive of the two ENJOY Malc

It sems to me to be a bit odd to lump all those service items together. If you stick to the recommended intervals you don't need them together - eg Air filter (Interval 40K miles), Plugs (60K), Coolant (100K then 50K). If my arithmetic is correct the first time you need them all is at 600K miles! I suppose if you bought a high mileage car with no service history you might want to do the whole lot and start again. And oil. Nearly £150 for 7 litres? Come on - buy 10 litres and keep the 3 and a bit for next time. Anyway, there's a lot of nonsense written about oil. If it meets the specs, that's all you need. Maybe one brand is 'better' than another - but you won't notice. I used GM Dexos2 over several years but I've recently switched to Mannol. I've been thinking about what to do about my GS300h major service, due imminently. Lexus want £630 - it takes them about an hour to do (a couple of years ago I had it done while I waited at Lexus Stockport). What I have done is bought 5 Litres of Mannol 0w20 Legend Ultra, 2 Blue Print Oil filters (a deal - one for next time) and a Blue Print Carbon Pollen filter all for less than £45 (BTW Nothing wrong with Blue Print - I've used them on and off for the last 30 years with no problems. They are part of Febi Bilstein these days) (My GS300h only needs 4 and a bit litres of oil) I don't get the Lexus warranties 'tis true, but I've got nearly £600 in my pocket. And I still enjoy doing my own spannering - at least I know it's been done correctly! YMMV!

Sorry Vladimir but there was a post some time back where it was suggested that the thieves had gained access to the car's wiring by removing the wheels arch liner and bypassing the security system to open the car and start it. I just postulated that this is maybe what happened in this case, as the car keys were apparently well protected?

I was referring to 'corrosion' (underneath) as something to check generally, not as related to a dashboard crack...

Not thought of that, good idea👍 I’ll see if the screws on the windscreen trims are seized or not, if they are then it’s vinyl trim or paint them in situ.

Plastics do age and generally become more brittle, I think the only potential warranty cover would be from the supplying dealer if that's where you sourced the vehicle from.

I updated my build thread with my latest work on my exhaust. How owners live with how loud the exhaust is when it is straight through pipes from the 3rd cat to the tips I don’t know. It is OK in the the car with the roof and windows up but is really loud outside the car. To much for me and I am not sure it is even at a legal level so I will be taking the straight through muffler section off again. It certainly gets peoples attention though if that is what you want.

Maybe some sort of heat/smoke sensor could be incorporated along with a sounder. It might not save your car but if you were in it, it could give you early warning more time to get out of it with minimal injury. The same could apply in the cargo/battery area of a plane (if not done already) Additionally, at least in this latter situation, hopefully dry powder could be released to help restrain any fire.

bumped into another Mk3 M reg owner last week at the Walmer Deal Antiques Fayre and we chatted a little and he's just spent £750 at Lexus changing the starter motor ..... he's had his car many moons too and now at 109k miles .... same colour as yours ............... he's had a Ls400 for 23 years too he told me ...... lucky guy eh ! About the same time as me These Mk3s really are brilliant but almost worthless ladies ( of distinction ) and deserving of a little tlc and preservation methinks Malc

I wouldn’t touch a Ghost tbh. I have seen a few that have either been found in less than 5min, ripped out and the car started, or cause issues with the car when driving. Like kicking in when driving at speed etc or through up various warning lights etc. you are better off going for an upgraded alarm and immobiliser system, plus a steering lock as a deterrent.

Just got a new toy. Today is my official retirement at 58 year old. A few months I forgot to lock my RX overnight and someone helped themselves to the cheap ODB2 reader I kept in the door pocket. So for my retirement the company I worked for asked me what I wanted as a retirement present and I selected a Topdon ArtiDiag800. Just got on charge at the moment and have updated all the software on it then will link it to the RX and have a play.

Gents, even after 2030 and the supposed stop of the combustible engine petrol will still be saleable, that won’t stop in our lifetime, as for VED that will probably stop at some point too, electric car are non taxable so the government will look to raise lost revenues on a millage system of some sort, something that we all will pay for on an individual usage......no way round that one......electric cars are not beneficial or a plus on an environmental front until 50k millage, most new cars are rented and not owned making it extremely non environmental purchase in the offset......I’ll be keeping my burial chariot for a lot longer yet. 😂🤣
