  1. Sometimes it might be better when things don’t work……. my wife used the car yesterday morning, I used it in the afternoon and when I checked last night all 4 trips had been recorded - the 1st “outward” trips from home recorded since Sunday. However when I mentioned to my wife that she should not brake as hard going into roundabouts, and should be more gentle accelerating when the speed limit changed things got a bit frosty…….

  2. Hi I ordered a UX Takumi on 20/10/22 with an estimated delivery date of 30/9/23. Through to 16/5/23 the "My Lexus Build Tracking" web page had the status as "Order in Progress". Had an email on 16/5/23 saying "We're building your Lexus UX". 6/6/23 email: "Your Lexus is now complete". Then, having asked for the name of the ship which is carrying my car, I can now track: https://www.vesselfinder.com/vessels/details/9327748 using: https://www.marinetraffic.com When I last checked a couple of days ago it was south of Taiwan on it's way to it's first port of call, Singapore. Not sure if it then has to call at another port but it's due to arrive at Portbury, Bristol on 13th July. Something to keep me amused for the next few weeks!!! After Portbury a lot of Toyota and Lexus cars go to Derby (the Toyota factory) then on to the dealer. This can take another 2-3 weeks so guess I'll get mine end of July or early August. I've ordered the Lexus front and rear dashcam option. Not sure whether these will be fitted at Derby or the dealer but I guess that could add a day or two to the timescales. Thought this might be of interest to anyone wanting to monitor the status of a UX they've ordered.

  3. I don't have plans to enter any of the zones shown on the official map, but we do go close to one or two of them on this year's holiday and for the sake of a few Euros it would be better to have one of these in case we have to make an unscheduled visit. Just gone through the process, commendably straightforward.

  4. Brodit fit perfectly (just fitted mine) and the part numbers are below that fit your car a Mk3 like mine (?) Once fitted over to the left of the hazard button I can see the car info screen and it does not get in the way of any other buttons The price of these is outrageous IMO but they fit and work as described and are very well made. Just removed the part numbers as you need to select for your phone, with a case or not, what type of charging (if any) needed. If I can remember I will post a pic tomorrow of it in situ.

  8. Hi Roger, I did the same, tracking my Takumi last june, quite interesting following its progress, from memory I don't think mine went up to Derby, it was only a few days after landing at Portbury that I heard from Lexus Bristol, a sones throw from Portbury of course, I had a front dashcam fitted so guess it was done at dealers. Just steeling myself for the downside now as car tax renewal soon due, £560 for no other reason than list price, same engine and emissions as lower spec, a rip off. Getting 54 mpg at moment. Bill D.

  9. If you embed the file like I just did, you will let us all see the video without all the disturbing ads youtube make an affluent life and profit on. Sorry to say that you are right. Still, some might want to pay more for the nicer interior. Why Lexus think that plastic around the wheel arches can exist on a "luxury car" is hard to understand. It looks cheap. Anyway, it does not matter: Le Mans start in 2 hours. https://www.24h-lemans.com/en/news/toyota-takes-the-wraps-off-its-gr-h-2-racing-concept-at-the-24-hours-of-le-mans-57635

  11. I don't believe that this is related to your iCloud account. When I (very occasionally) get this prompt I enter the email address and password that I use to login to the MyLexus website (or the Lexus Link app). That seems to cure it. Have you tried that?

  12. I would imagine that Lexus' reply would be that you have two options:- Take delivery of the car now without the locking wheel nuts and accept the risk that the wheels are more vulnerable to being stolen (and absolve Lexus of any responsibility should that happen) Don't take delivery of the car until the wheel nuts have been sourced and are in place If it were me, I would probably choose option 1 - especially bearing in mind that nothing on a car, no matter how well it is secured, is totally theft-proof anymore. Good luck with the RZ - looks a very nice car.

  13. I would definitely get the view of a trusted independent. Lexus seem to recommend everything gets changed if it's a 'health check'. I would also check for corrosion underneath. It was rust that killed my car, finally - an RX300. It might help you decide how much to budget for etc? Good luck.

  14. I have to say it grows on me. Interior looks wonderful and on second thought the exterior is not bad as well. It is longer and wider than the Toyota derivate and looks much more balanced. This week Lexus also introduced the TX and that has thesame "Lexus DNA"in its styling, call it the new look as you may. Engine on paper looks slow and underpowered but in the real world this could be way different. I drove an IS300H that in day to day driving was just fine but on paper? Wonder how much it will cost though.

  16. I thought they were to reveal this tomorrow before the race. Knew since they started preparing the Corolla for 24-hour racing that they had plans for Le Mans. Actually, hoped they would get permission to have some kind of test car opening first round of the race tomorrow. Will have to wait and see what will happen tomorrow. Cars that can be run at speeds like in this race for 24 hours are cars that can last a long time with speeds that are permitted on public roads. Many things can be learned when technic is tested to the limit. https://www.24h-lemans.com/en

  17. might you have the service records showing when these were last replaced ? That might reveal if they really do need sorting before the next MOT between now and the mileage you're likely to cover, to the next MOT . just a thought ! When mine went on my Ls400 all those years back, the first front nearside copped it at @145k miles and the rest, the other 3 at @ 200k miles Yours must surely have already been replaced ? and I'm assuming with Main Dealer Lexus parts too knowing the history of your great looking steed Malc

  20. 18 months on update: The replacement rear camera has started to flicker on occasion and the quality has lowered slightly, so here I went again this morning: Current: New: Fitted: Image comparison: Old (top) vs New (bottom) I bought the Dorman 590-638 for £111 on 19/04/23. I'm hoping long term this holds up better as it's brand new and a slightly different design. From further inspection of the images, it looks as though the newer one has a slightly wider viewing angle as well as being sharper. Win / Win! Hopefully you don't hear from me again for a very long time on this thread! 😆

  21. Today I finished preparing Bombproof Betty for the Centenary Le Mans. It's taken a while, was a little challenging at times, but has been a highly enjoyable process, I've made new friends along the way and discovered a bomb detector:o) I wanted to restore an already lovely car (thanks Antony) into my daily driver "from here to eternity". The list of work includes replacing rocker gasket covers, auxiliary belt, rear brake pads & shoes, front brake pads, old hoses, fixing coolant and water leaks, adding a new temperature sensor and gasket thermostat, cleaning the throttle body, refurbishing wheels, dent removal, paint restoration and detailing. There's still more work still to be done I'm very happy to say, that will keep me occupied and out of trouble for a while yet.

  22. ŴVHC.pdfVHC.pdfLmafudd yes you are right car is 19 years old, 333000 miles on clock. Body wise it is immaculate even technician on video walk around said i had superficial rust. Bought with known issues for handbrake, so expected issues mainly in braking dept as I had warnings in written and big red triangle on dash. Which I remedied by replacing "cut" brske wear sensors 🤔. Test drive before purchase never gave any indication of wheel bearing or back end feeling "sloppy/loose". The 230 mile drive to dealer from very far north of Scotland to Edinburgh was very smooth and relaxing. Even booting it off the line it went like stink with no tugging or steering correction nesscary. I now understand that technicians that work for lexus as marque err on the side of caution. The sheet listing everything that needed to be fixed comes in 3 different groups. Nesscary, recommend and OK. To be fair to lexus they didn't find a lot wrong. See if I can attach inspection sheet and video of my car.

  23. What did I do with my lexus today, took a huge gamble. Dropped my LS430 off at Lexus Edinburgh, all very efficient and polite. Courtesy coffee given. Went through list of work for approval and mot test. Got a video walk around of my LS430 and faults. Lexus discovered a leaking core plug 😬. Other bad news is condenser on air-con has no cooling fins but still in working order no leaks, steering rack gaiter torn (out of stock so lexus is getting me one from a motor factor 🙄), near side wheel bearing has excessive play (never felt or heard it), brake pipe corrosion, high level brake light bulb out. Now comes the biggy bushes are worn in rear trailing arms. Lexus do not replace bushes only complete arms. Pair fitted is £2500 but not avaliable until July at earliest. MOT is booked in for Friday. Lexus has decided with my agreement carry on with MOT Test and see if a get an advisory on trailing arm bushes. Now in hindsight I should of booked MOT first then decided what to do with my LS430. Knew it would need some repairs when I bought it so was prepared to sink a few thousand into it. A few thousand has turned into a lot of thousands. If my LS430 fails MOT I will have to see if they will let me drive it away, so I can get it sorted at home. If not it's going to fun trying to get to work for Saturday night. One way of looking at this is I could of paid a few thousand for an LS430 and still been in same boat. Repairs will be up to lexus quality standard. Comments good bad and ugly most welcome, blunt comments greatly appreciated as I prefer a straight answer to straight question with no faffing about. A spade is spade 🙂.

  25. Yes, I'm keeping my current 2014 IS 300h going now as long as it's economically viable - it's done 133k miles so hopefully a few more miles left in it yet. Bought it for cash for a really good price when it was 2 years old and 40k miles and if I can get eg another 100k miles out of it reliably over the next few years then compared to buying anything new or even used (at today's prices) it will be comfortable and very cost effective motoring.

  26. SUVs are the same - basically same amount of material and parts just sold in different form for more money. And as long as we (as society) going to continue to buy their overpriced crap they will continue doing it. Hence I have long abandoned any plans to buy new car, not because I can't afford it, but just because I do not consider them worth the asking price. Used car prices are issue now, but I just accepted I will be stuck in ~2000-2010 period for foreseeable future. Or even better - maybe I get daily classic car which not only not going to lose money, but hopefully gain some.

  27. Did you read what Ford said? They'll be dropping most current cars and want to sell high end cars only and become a luxury brand lol.. There will be nothing left to buy by people who aren't earning £50k+ if everyone will start doing this

  30. None of that is CAN. There is some BEAN bus there but most is discrete wiring which isn't an issue. It was around 2016 onwards (depending on specific model) where Toyota changed the lights to use CAN which introduces the method of attack that thieves are targeting - so only the RX series IV.

  31. Whilst checking the undertrays, worked out why when driving over rough road surfaces or speed humps, I can sometimes hear faint rattling from the rear of the car. Give the centre undertray just behind the bumper a tap. More than likely you will hear stones moving about and smaller ones will fall out of or poke out of the small holes. Seems somehow stones larger than these holes manage to get into this space also. When I have time, will drop this undertray to remove the larger stones and maybe work out how they are getting in.

  32. Hi everyone, i just to say, My final goodbye to my GS 450h i use to own gs 450h 4th gen, it was bought and exported to another country this week.Person come test it drive it saw it inspected everything negotiated big discount on the price and thats it. My car was really amazing, 4th generation gs450h with adaptive dampers, big front brakes great fuel economy 5.2 litres best per 100km and worst 7.5litres per 100km. It had night vision, 18 way front seat cooled heated seats , heat window + wipers. Mark levinson adaptive cruise control president line with extra 2 buttons of the passenger seat, led high and low beams with AFS. it was my first Lexus, and it was great amazing car i will miss the car a lot. i owned car for approximately almost 2 years. Due to my wife parting away with me and loosing my job , that was the main reason for the car sale.It was difficult decision to make, i fully serviced the car everything suspention, gearbox and etcs.... all with original parts. Car had really tons of features including drive aware system and electric heater etcs... everything + water package. I always cleaned car with the most expensive and best possible options like cleaning solutions from abroad like USA/Europe, and vacuum clean it with dyson with portable batteries... for the leather i used 5 different chemicals in order to be soft i even bought gs f floor mats. Which i sadly used very few times because car was sold... just after i replaced the whole suspention car was sold at huge loose as well.. The best car i ever had, may be the only good replacement and upgrade for it will be some day LS 5th gen or new generation gs... if they creat 5th generation.. i can go with ls430 but we will see.

  33. Thanks to everyone for the response. I can't really want to put it into a garage and have the expense of having all the interior taken out. I have watched numerous videos on YouTube and tried the trick of pushing strimmer line down the front drain hole it whent down quite a long way but stopped where I imagine it exits in the engine bay.i couldn't find the rear drain but by then I had enough of fiddling around in the drizzle.i did find the passenger side rubber seal was not fixed in place pushed into place as best I could. If it still leaks I will seal it up as I don't use sun roofs anyway.i will continue to post any success Thanks John
