  1. Please be aware of the new pothole warning signs now being placed in certain areas giving advice to drivers.

  2. Sorry - not really had a chance to use it with only a few local journeys recorded and mileage still below 300 completed almost entirely in EV mode. It's extremely comfortable as expected and I'm getting to grips with the technology. Currently getting around 35 miles on a full charge but temperatures are not helping so expect over 40 when they rise to the seasonal norm! Feels MUCH bigger than the NX and more than the actual additional dimensions with supermarket car park spaces tight. The parking aids (camera etc) a huge help. Excess speed notification is a bit of a pain particularly when 20mph signs are misaligned at junctions to 30/40mph roads as the camera picks them up! Have taken up the offer of Lexus minor repair insurance just in case it picks up some scars in car parks etc and considering alloy wheel insurance as well because the rims look particularly vulnerable. More will follow once a get the mileage up.

  3. I’ve been telling Mrs Finchy about your adventure. Trying to convince her that we could do that. She’s comparing ages of SC’s and because ours is older with slightly more miles, she thinks we’ll break down. I don’t think I’m going to win this one but I can live it through you guys. Have a great time. 😎

  5. FYI I’ve found that the EV range has gradually increased over time. Mine now shows 48 miles on a full charge.

  8. All pre booked. I think I have found the source of my boot leak. The rubber seal is bonded to the car...some has come unstuck at base of rear screen. Wedged with a bit of cork....survived last nights rain.

  9. Thanks for your update Ken, it’s always interesting to hear from other drivers about the RX. I’ve been driving mine sine July last year and have pretty much managed to train myself to mute the excess speed warning sound (although I do like to have the visual warning still on) each time I set off. As I’ve stated elsewhere I also find supermarket car parks challenging and that’s after downsizing from an L322 Range Rover! I suppose that was rather slab sided and a higher seating position, but I also think that there’s a lot of information being sent to the brain in the RX with all the camera angles, warning symbols and sounds plus good, old-fashioned mirrors going on. I need to spend some time in a quiet car park and use the automated parking function. I’ve tried it 4 times to date and each time it’s not been a comfortable experience so have ended up overriding it.

  11. Thought I would gather together my owning experience in one place. GY08UWW Windsor Blue with cream interior and walnut. Bought just before Christmas 2023, as an actual present for me. 107,000 miles, last owner for 12 years who had it regularly serviced but neglected to get the book stamped. There is enough surviving paperwork to make me believe it was looked after. The owner ran a successful business, but he did use the car to commute to work down narrow Kent country roads. Him and his wife were in their mid 70's and there is the odd scuff as testament. Owner agreed to have a Lexus Canterbury service before I bought it for some peace of mind, and a near 12 month MOT. He still did not stamp the book! ( I have the paperwork) However, I decided slightly scuffed 2008 trumped a shiny on top 2003 model. Pics from Facebook advert. He wanted £10,000 which I thought was reasonable for a late model. Managed to whittle him down to £8750 knowing there was stuff to do to improve the car over time. No rush as those things are all cosmetic.

  13. It's only a warning with the speed sign flashing and audible notification so it doesn't automatically reduce your speed. Electric range is less than what I was achieving in the NX but should improve as the temperatures hopefully rise. Boot space is bigger than the NX although I find the various compartments beneath the boot floor not quite as useful. The retractable load covet is a big improvement over the NX.

  17. MPG sounds fine for a 4.3ltr V8 👍 Me…. Mostly B&Bs, tiny hotels that sort of thing ……. often started looking about 4pm or so for that night …… and that evening spent chilling, relaxing in the, or a bar …….. never failed to find somewhere ok for that night …… rarely “ do “ posh hotels anywhere ……. over priced …… and food etc always ok in local hostelries, cafes, eateries whatever ……. breakfasts too of course ……. and lunch on the hoof …….. sometimes courtesy of the local Aldi too 😂 Malc

  19. Exhaust Centre. Bower Lane Maidstone Kent ME16 8EH 01622-672798 It’s a large back street exhaust place, but challenging to find tho’, that has tons ( and I mean tons ) of different stock parts and can make-up anything you need …… they have some imaginative creative guys working there some of whom are amazingly helpful ……. I’d be shocked if they can’t sort you out ok BUT like with my complex Y section, they had the car for 2 days to manufacture and fit the complex set-up So you might need to pre-book and leave the car with them ! Mine, a year or so back was £360 incl vat whereas the stock Lexus part at @ £700 was just no longer available from anywhere ….. they had my Ls400 an overnight / 2 days Very helpful and honest guys ……. with good coffee 🤞 Good luck Malc

  23. Sorry to hear that @HighlandJohn on my LS430 which I run on a shoestring budget I've a hole (literally) right in the drivers view. The hole is at least 2mm which is where someone previously must've done a shoddy repair job. Had the windscreen people out many many months ago without disturbing my insurance. Cost was in the £200s but when he attended he said it was suitable to be able to give me a warranty. The repair is still going strong and the 3 cracks either side of the hole haven't gotten any bigger. Anxiety causing indeed. Hope your replacement goes well...

  24. Well, all things point to the VVT oil valve solenoid for Bank 2. We removed it and flushed it with brake clean. It wasn't open circuit but since researching it should have ~ 7 ohms, but I didn't take note, so I'll have to re-check it. I also viewed a video where the guy connected a battery and operated the solenoid which could be seen altering the inner slider and ports. He suggested lowering the working section into a mug of Liqui Moly cleanser and cycling it with the battery for a deep clean. Other videos showed a second port which houses a conical filter but this is not obvious to me on the car. I rang my local dealer's parts department 3 times without answer, so drove to a Toyota dealer nearby. The part numbers have been updated. He has Bank 1 but Bank 2 might arrive by May 1st . Priced at around £190. I said I'd try a cheap or used unit just to confirm it solves, or even improves the situation before ordering both new. He was great and after some chat I was offered a further 12% trade discount. After getting home Lexus parts dept were still out to lunch! I left the battery on charge overnight with my noco genius5 which was still pulsing green this morning. There was enough to start her (reluctantly) and it took a minute or two until the timing seemed acceptable. I may need to flush out other components. With all the rain I'm not surprised that the O/S cubby in the boot is very wet, as is the spare tyre well. The rubber at the corner of the back window is a little proud so I wonder if that is the point of ingress?

  27. Ken, that was exactly the point I was trying to make to the wife when we were changing from the RX to the NX. The RX only feels much bigger when in fact it is only slightly bigger. I think that the more curved lines of the NX on the bonnet and from the mid doors upwards is the reason why it feels much smaller. Oh, and I do miss the boot space of the RX and the retractable boot cover. On paper the RX and NX are similar but practically the RX can consume more.

  29. Many thanks Ken, I appreciate that and look forward to more when you can. The speed warning, does it actually reduce the speed automatically or is it just a warning? Many negative comments on this subject.

  30. My goodness, nearly £49,000 for a Takumi🤔 I think the UX is now an awful lot of money for not much car, lovely though it is. That is what I was always struggling with wanting to change from my Prius to a UX. I would be spending a lot of money to buy a car that was smaller and less practical than I already had. In the end I have just bought a new NX which seemed much better value and feel I have got a lot of car for the money. Still going to be interested to see what the Gen 2 UX will be like whenever it arrives.

  34. Finally gave up with the Ghost. Despite 4 visits and refits/mods it was still discharging the battery. Autowatch have apparently had problems fitting them on some Lexus and RAV 4's. Had it taken out and had a Shadow system fitted. No issues since,

I was going thru this unsettled phase about this time last year …… seriously looking at Jap imported Lexii but couldn’t settle on any coz there was zero availability to get EVERYTHING SANS JAP hieroglyphics, signs, buttons whatever …….. so in August I bought my wondrous 91 Ls400 from a Member here ……. maybe keep your Ls400 for ultra comfy trips but use her every other day to keep all in fine fettle Yours must be worth at least a £zillion to the discerning buyer Malc

  42. Picked up some front end pieces. It slowly taking shape. Coilovers are going on this weekend if the weather holds. Android Head Unit is on order too, arriving next week. I went for the more OEM looking model this time. Also doubled up on the RAM (4GB. I had the 2+32 spec last time and I had no issues with smoothness of it etc, but I used it for about a month before I sold the green Lexus so I thought I'd future proof it a little with this one. Wheels from Japan should be with me at some in May and then it's more or less done.

  43. I must be lucky somehow. Bought new in 2020 NX300h with premium plus pack, list over £40k at £42,500. Actually paid only £37,500. Paid my VED as you have to. Just paid VED back in February, only £170.00, the highest I've ever paid so far. I was warned by the dealer of the "envy" tax, and was prepared for it. So far in 4 years of ownership haven't been charged the additional Posh-Payment.

  45. One of the mods did spot this first thing this morning. It's very difficult to identify these posts automatically. We do have other meaures in place such as members outside the UK registering but they are using fresh gmail accounts and VPN ip addresses that show them from the UK, but looking at their timezone they are from Lagos. Trust me we do filter a lot of stuff and usually posts are filtered to new members, but the clever part is they post non scammy information to bypass the new post limits, so they get through. We don't want to try and inspect every post as many members are legit, it's just the new members we inspect the first few posts. Last 7 days we have cleaned over 1000 attempted spammy sign-ups and 107 were allowed, you can see the level we have to deal with. Colin is like lightning when it comes to banning them out. if the emails are too much you can reduce them to once every 24 hours and you can get a digest of the day.

  46. I asked a mechanic I know up who works exclusively on hybrid cars and he said hes done afew of these and told me to get the diff pinion seal from Lexus as the copy parts tend to leak again so ill give Lexus a call tomorrow and see what the seal cost. He told me it should cost under £50 so we will see. I will keep this thread updated for anyone else that runs into the same problem

  47. Purchased Gliptone colour coded touch up dye for dirty worn bits. Lexus paint touch up set for little scratches. Driving it in the dark last night I did note that the headlights are a bit on the weedy side. This was mentioned in the only advisory on the MOT. Simply a case of new bulbs? I understand that it is a bumper off job to replace them. I guess that is first option. Maybe ballast resistor? Car is off to https://ccautomotive.co.uk tomorrow for underside rust prevention work. Got my priorities right. Then it can have a good wash to assess whether it needs to pay a visit to the body shop for paint correction for the scruffy bits. Would be perfect time to replace bulbs if bumper has to come off any way for painting.
