just about to go to bed

when i got a phone call

from my son, saying he had had a crash

rushed down to where it was :crybaby:

unfortunatly on the way down i was stopped by an oncoming car, the woman telling me to turn around as there had been a bad accident, now i know she was being helpful, but that wasnt what i needed to hear :o

anyway got to the crash scene and was so glad to see my son walking around, him and two of his mates all with cuts and bruises and i imagine a few sore bits tomorrow

and to find his nice tidy micra looking not so nice

the accident happened on an unlit bend, as the brakes were applied the car slid, all the way into a tree

temperatures have been down to -3 tonight so were pretty slippery,

airbags deployed, and two hands went through the windscreen

i think he has had a very very lucky escape

so lets all be carefull out there

Glad everything is ok with your son mate.............. it's only metal after all, could have been a lot worse !

Braking on a bend is never a good thing ! :crybaby:

Sheese. That is one lucky escape looking at the state of the Micra!

Hope all is well anyway. Bet you're so glad that your son and co were ok.

It was -3 this morning when I got up!!!

I think braking on bends, especially when you feel like the car is about to give way is a reaction kinda thing. Not good, but sometimes it cant be helped.

Nasty one, glad they are all OK barring a few cuts and bruises, that is the main thing.

Sounds like a simple, turn the wheel on an icy surface and go straight on, it happens.

Parents worst nightmare...... Little Nissan did it's job and saved the occupant from serious harm.....

This not an easy lesson for the lad, but a lesson it is!

I truly feel for you all and i bet Janny is distraught, any help needed with the car i volunteer...

Barrie, just be greatful everyone walked away from the accident..

Things happen, you cant predict, avoid or prevent, I realise as a parent you will find it hard not to worry, but he walked away, he's probably in more shock than you are...

And lets be honest, he probably learnt more from that one incident that every day of safe driving leading up to it - experience is something you cant get in a classroom
