  3. The nearest charging points in my area are at a supermarket at Church Stoke "about 10 miles away", and the last time I was there there were two charging bays with large notices in front of them stating they were for electric vehicles only. Both bays were taken up one with a Fiesta the other with a Golf neither of them modified to run on electricity.. There were perhaps 30 or more empty normal parking places in the immediate area. I parked behind both vehicles blocking them in. I connected the Nissan Leaf I was using to one of the charging points and went to do my shopping, and have breakfast in the store. On returning to the car about an hour later there were two annoyed "to say the least" young drivers balling and shouting at me. At that point the store manager arrived having been monitoring the situation on CCTV. The manager pointed out the large signs directly in front of there windscreens, and the empty parking spaces also explaining that without charging my car I could go no further, and had no alternative but to block there exit. He also said they would have a reason for complaint if a row of electric cars were blocking access to the petrol pumps so they could not fill up. Then he went on to say they were lucky not to have received parking penalty notices. In conversation with the manager after moving my car he said he would have done the same thing in the situation. John.

  5. Had four new tyres fitted today and tracking adjusted Initial impressions on todays wet and cold roads are very positive. Firstly the only negative is lack of rim protection. Now the positives. Firstly the car now feels more planted and the ride is much softer than the OE Dunlops. This is especially noticeable when negotiating speed humps. They are also much quieter. The grip in the wet seems also to be much improved. So initial impressions are very positive.

  7. My works carpark has employed a outside parking co to monitor employees park in allocated spaces ( management and grunts have different spaces) and to make sure its not used by public. A condition of the use is to display a permit. Many people stick it to to window, many put it in place everyday. Me only working four days a week didnt want it on show on my days off. After 9 mnths i finally forgot to put it in place and got a ticket. My fault but hey ho. Approached my management and they had no interest in helping to cancel the charge for a 22yr employee. Thinking £70 is not really a justifieable amount to pay for forgetting to display a permit for one day i decided to research and fight it through the appeals process. I joined the pepipoo motoring forum and taking advice fought my case. With research i proved the ticket was not issued legally and they had not issued a correct notice to keeper. In fact with more knowledge i proved they had failed several statutes in the protection of freedoms act 2012 ( pofa ) and several of their governing bodies code of practice and as such could not hold me liable. I never mentioned the failure to display a valid permit. I fought them on their own terms and conditions which they could not get right as required by law. My appeal was upheld and the charge cancelled. So if you get a ticket on council or private land do not rush out and pay the reduced amount thinking if you dont it will cost more. The idea is to pay nothing. It takes some time and effort ,yes. Parking co's rely on the fact that people panic and pay, when with a little effort you can avoid paying using the law and their own procedures to your advantage.

  8. Reasonably accurate. Remember they are in Euros and add VAT.

  9. A bit tongue in cheek but... With the LC500, the doors are so long and thick that I am unable to get in if anyone parks even a typical distance away from my driver's door. It needs about a 2 foot clearance distance at least. Would it be OK if I park in the mother and child spaces just so I can get in and out? The car is "my baby" after all. I recently used a Park and Ride and parked many bays away from everyone else and right on the line to the left of the space to give myself maximum room. On my return a minicab was parked next to me (what he was doing in a P&R is anyone's guess) and I could just about get aboard. This is a genuine issue meaning you need to plan ahead or just park across 2 spaces and look like a right ****. I wouldn't mind paying for 2 spaces if it comes to it. I know this is a bit of a "first world problem".

  14. Bonnet struts are not an MOT failure or an advisory i would guess a just had my RX300 MOT'd today - he just mentioned the useless bonnet strut on the bill. Another 14 year old Lexus straight through with no advisories!

  15. Ouch!! That’s sounds nasty & a good job it wasn’t any lower - it might have needed more than over styling!! Hope you are ok mate.

  17. I forgot to add that the car had 9 service stamps, all from the supplying dealer and the car had had the plugs changed at the 6 year service so it does not need them changing at 60k. They also serviced it before the sale to me !

  18. I know, I bought mine on 3rd of this month, took it for MOT on 6th, it passed with 3 advisories. I carry a broom handle at the moment so if it needs a mechi to go under the bonnet I'll just give him that & assure him that ''Here! I hope this works''

  19. so are you saying I am an old fart lol? I am rather awkward too and grumpy if my wife is to be believed. I see you have an NX which I thought was jittery compared to my IS300H Premier hence the change to an gen 4 RX. Couldnt afford the Premier and really liked the red with black roof liner of the FSport which is a little harder ride and noiser with the sound generator. Would prefer silence but accepted the trade off. As I get older I want quiet and plush ride

  20. It does unclip quite easily and drops down for access. Unclips from the back if I remember? Mines due to come off again as I need to replace the 15A fuse for my Aux socket in the console. That’ll teach me to use an inferior car hoover which blew it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  21. I would of said exactly as Colin said. It’s a great comfortable economical experience. Mines a 2011 with 84K and it still drives like new and zero problems other than servicing. Rarely use ECO mode but always Normal mode for everything incl motorway which it’s very happy at. As Colin said Sport mode is great for the quick getaway. It’s like driving 2 different cars. Handling is very go kart like with hardly any body roll on corners. Yes mines quite a “firm” ride as is most pre 2014 CT,s are but it’s not off putting to me as I’ve had a lot worse especially with 17” wheels. The boot is shallow and not very big but I rarely use it to it’s full capacity. Totally happy with mine. You’ll enjoy the experience I’m sure. Effortless quality. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  22. Back in 2013 we had a family holiday to France. Two cars, 8 people in total. We left my house to get down to a Ferry crossing into France and got 1 1/2 miles up the road and my brother-in-law had a puncture. Luckily he had a spare which we fitted and then got to a garage and he got two new tyres fitted because the punctured tyre was not repairable. Delayed us by about an hour in total and we still made the ferry in time albeit we had to give dinner beforehand a swerve. Had he just had gunk and a compressor we'd have probably missed the ferry no question because the gunk wouldn't have sealed the tyre and it happened at 5pm so we'd be waiting for a call-out. I've had two punctures on the way to a work appointment both of which were with 100 miles to go. Had a third on the way home late at night. All with spare tyres fortunately. You've been lucky, I've been unlucky and I don't like having a car without a spare tyre because of my experiences.

  23. @DAW With latest one it's the rear to my eye it's absolutely gopping, over styling and heavy looking, I'm not surprised they don't sell to well except to the diehards.......... maybe they say the same things about us and our choices...... Big Rat

  24. I am in exactly the same situation as you, and agree on many occasions I come across vehicles parked in disabled bays without displaying a blue badge. I must admit last year I received a ticket for parking in a disabled bay while displaying a blue badge. My offence was that my badge had expired by 4 days. I had a word with the local council about issuing reminders for renewal of blue badges since they last for three years, and are easy to overlook. I pointed out that even a small increase in price for the badge would be reasonable to cover the small cost involved. They have agreed to look into this. The council also cancelled the parking fine even though I said I would not contest it as it was my responsibility to check the date. John

  25. Never heard this noise before and have had the car for nearly a year now and its been running great (apart from the PCS system errors occasionally) Will monitor it over the next few weeks, seemed to start in really cold spell there. Car now booked in at Lexus Glasgow on 02/04 so will see what mechanics come up with - maybe its normal - hope so.

  27. Currently have a Civic sport as a second car & it’s an absolutely brilliant car to live with & a blast to drive. When I picked it up last year I took the then current Type R out to sort the road tax for the sport. It was one hell of a drive & a lot more refined than the Type R’s of old (exc R track mode of course 😉). Both that car & the current Type R are the bench mark hot hatches, both holding the Ring record for this type of.car in standard production form, & the aero kit all play their part in that. To me the styling makes them look more like a touing car for the road & I like the way they look because it’s not all just for show. That said when I suggested owning one to my wife she said she liked it, but we would look a bit silly getting out of one at our age, so I can see why the styling is polarising. But you only have one life and if it’s what you want go for it!! You won’t care what the styling is like when you are sitting on the inside and are having a blast driving it 👍🏻

  30. Your right about not being enough disabled spaces and you may have noticed that in lots of motorway services they are taking away disabled bays and turning them into electric car charging points, thank you Tesla. I saw a guy sweeping up around the disabled bays and I asked him how many cars a week use the charging points and he said he had only ever seen 2 cars since the bays were put there which was around 10 weeks.
