  1. Guys, the time finally came today to let the ISF go to a new home. I have loved every minute of ownership but there are lots of cars I want to own and only so much time in which to do it. The car that has replaced it is a 2018 civic type r and although first impressions are epic, the ISF will always have a soft spot in my heart. Thank you to all of the forum friends I have made and good luck for the future. I will still be dipping in from time to time as the banter is just too good to miss!! Cheers guys. Marcus

  2. With regards to ANY RC-F, why are you and so many people hung about weight? The RC-F is a road car. It performs way past what is acceptable on public roads. If you want to drive on the track, buy a bloody track car. You really don't need reversing cameras and lane assist on the Thruxton circuit! Have you ever driven an IS-F in a spirited fashion? Have you driven an RC-F in a spirited fashion? I ask this as it would be a handy comparison. Having driven many miles in both, I don't feel the extra weight. I'd also argue that most non skilled drivers (such as myself) probably couldn't tell if the car was 150 kg lighter or not. Bottom line, don't just accept what you've read in a motoring magazine! Get out there and drive the cars - then see how you feel. There's a real world out there!

  3. Yep, I wonder why they didn't just use the original IS-F and F-Sport wheel colour. Maybe they ran out and forgot the paint code, then realised nobody else had it either so mixed up another colour

  4. Sliiightly off topic - but I guess the car will soon join the ranks of ‘ex-directors car’ sat Outside a Lexus dealer somewhere! Anyhow it reads well and is from this months EVO - end of Richard Meaden’s (who I have muchous respect for) long term test. I think he perfectly sums up why the F is such a good purchase - to paraphrase...its the experienced worldly wise mans purchase!

  5. @Linas.P Now if I could get 4 of those to fit an RcF I'd be flogging them to members for spares..... 🐀

  6. Reading through this thread and as the mods progressed, I wasn't that keen on the new look at all. Not sure if it's the colour change of the wheels but I actually like the overall look now in the latest pictures, the silver wheels look so much better inho. Fair play to you Connor, you are not afraid to get stuck in and have a go, I hope it gives you many miles of happy motoring, they are lovely cars.

  7. It's been around 3/4 years now since I had my 2001 GS300 and stayed with the Toyota family owning a Toyota Chaser JX100. Since selling that and buying and selling a BMW 320D m-sport I've decided to come back with a Lexus IS300h F-SPORT in Sonic Titanium. I've put a deposit on the car, just need to have one more look at it as I first saw it when it was traded in and had some signs of wear. I'd be interested if anyone knows of or owned this car before LM63OLH bought from and returned to Hatfield Lexus. I'm glad to be coming back to a model that I've had my eye on since it came out.

  8. Exclusivity is a massive and underestimated element of car ownership. Loved it with many of my cars. It’s a bizzare but nice feeling when people say they like a car or take interest in it.

  9. Just a thought... Are the RCF, ISF, GSF.... designed for the track, or just developed on the track? As most cars are. Such a small percentage are tracked, so perhaps Lexus wanted more comfort stuff (weight) which would make the car more popular with average Joe... 🤔

  13. That price was with the equivalent of 2yrs no claims discount as a new customer and some more discount for 5yrs as a named driver on my ex-wife’s car!!! I think combination of postcode (not great), marketing director (high risk), divorcee (high risk), new hi-performance car (high risk and unknown quantity) and lack of no claims f*cked me. Anyway - give it a year or two and it’s no problem. I’ve taken out the policy now, but next time I’ll call LV too.

  15. I'm not surprised. Now these RCF's are down to mid 30's they're great value.

  16. It depends on the company. Don't assume that because one company didn't mind that another one won't. Some will cover any factory fitted option, some want to know about all of them (and potentially charge you for them).

  17. So in the states and Europe they have these as well which are very popular........ Not to confuse matters of course.......

  18. The RC-F Carbon wheels did become an option at some point on the Standard RC for about £995 I think. Only 1 non-carbon has had them fitted that I know of.

  20. It does raise a good point. I read on PH )I think) someone could not drive the m4 all the time because it is too twitchy and is hard work. On a blast it was said to be fun but to get the power down and actually enjoy the car the rcf was the better option. There are so many cars with mega power not but it counts for nothing if you can’t lay it down. On all the rcf vs m4 clips on YouTube you can see how much harder the drivers are working in the m4 due to the torque and it wanting to step out. The rcf by comparison does almost identical times with far less harassment.

  26. The odd thing is when folk say ‘nice car’ as if you designed or built it you almost feel guilty for saying thanks.

  27. @Tfp In the last 11 months I've had 4 people pm for information I may or may not have on that car, and all 4 went to view and test drive it, none of whom bought it. The reasons were many and varied not all of which were directly attributed to the car. Big Rat

  28. Well.. again that is not exactly the measure of the style... is it? As for the roads... I think if we would start publicly hanging politician that might help, because in recent years potholes became ridiculous... and it is not like I just noticed. There is sharp increase in potholes even comparing with like 2-3 years ago...

  29. Hi all. Not keen on the ones on the red is like the ones on the isf but with our pot holed roads need more rubber like a tractor tyre to keep from damaging wheels and tyres. 65mike,

  30. Definitely didn't come out of the factory with the carbon wheels. The build spec for that vehicle states the wheels as 255+275/35r19 forged high. Carbon wheels list as 255+275/35r19 forged high+

  32. Because this is a car for ALL purposes and was sold as that! Track, GT and B roads and weight plays a massive role in that. Why can people see that? Having done many miles in both and isf and a lotus Evora both are considered track cars and GT cars both go about it differently. The point being I will track the rcf I am ok with the weight which will be noticeable on track but I also like the luxury so am prepared to compromise. Lexus could have made the car lighter like others did. It’s not a bad thing to say this and it’s not meant to offend anyone.

  33. Thanks, I prefer the wheels now they are silver too, couldn't tell what design they were as it was all a bit dark. In response to the headlight I appreciate the concern and it's not something that I've just cobbled together over the past few days. I've been working to try and get the beam pattern as close as I can to an acceptable level, I have checked the cut off line and it shouldn't be a problem so far for affecting other road users. Essentially these are being made for show use and now I have use of a company vehicle I don't drive the LS much more for personal use, so it spends less time on the roads anyhow. If they do fail mot or are a nuisance to other road users come the end of show season when the nights start to creep in and it's darker earlier I can just revert back to the original lamps anyhow. I appreciate the concern and warning and hopefully I've made it a bit clearer about how the lights will be used. After all, I'm sure we all see some cars about that are definitely unroadworthy yet still booting it around residentials! Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk EDIT: I forgot to mention the main projector that holds the original xenon bulb is of oem manufacturing, it's only the full beam that is an aftermarket projector, so the beam cut off pattern is precise

  34. Sorry to hear that. L V might also be worth a go as they accepted my wife’s named driver NCD to start a new policy of her own. I appreciate this is not quite the same as coming from a company policy, but we were not having much luck for my wife until we phoned LV. Might be worth a call if you haven’t already tried them. Good luck whatever you decide on 👍🏻

  35. A couple of years ago Aviva gave my missus an introductory discount, she'd been on my policy for ever so hadn't got no claims of her own. Worth a try, they're not on comparison webistes.

  36. I have 225/35-19 on the front and 255/35-19 rear , never had any rubbing or bother with them. Lexus always report my tread depth and always state wrong wheel for car( or something like that on my service report)

  39. For me the new RC-F wheels looks very "generic/plain"... almost like spares made from alloy: And I would say same about US/EU wheels - plain and ugly... Obviously, when it comes to anything of style and taste is subjective - I personally think that RC-F carbon 20spoke are the best looking wheels available on RC-F.

  40. Hi all. Alas i am a little late in my posting But i see we have to superb looking cars being shown in the pictures above well done to both off you they look a treat wish mine looked like either off them mine when i purchased it looked superb but i think they used something to reduce the fine swirl marks / scratches. 65mike.

  41. The IS F colour code is 11GY39, but it means nothing to anyone outside of Toyota or the wheel OEM

  42. The 4RX is pretty much as quiet if not quieter than a GS at speed. Ride is about the same trim for trim. Obviously don't go for the F-Sport if you want a smoother ride - the benefit of the F-Sport though is going round bends and roundabouts in Sport+ mode, its a bit unrealistic tbh for such a big, long thing Oh and the power though, nothing really like it in the Lexus range bar the F models, especially with the loss of the GS450h

  43. I do like those wheels - very nice!! Although I’m also a bit partial to the carbon wheels as well - saw those on a white RCF on the Lexus stand at Goodwood last year, which is when I realised how much the RCF’s had grown on me!!

  44. YES HE HAS!!! After a bit of back and forth over the history of the car, I went ahead...can’t wait for the 17th. I’ll update on the insurance premium tomorrow as I’ve got some time to do the ring around. Thankyou all so much for the info - looks like Adrian Flux and Keith Michaels will be the first two phone calls after I get a couple of benchmark quotes from Admiral and Direct Line for them to beat..!
